When on holiday to the Egyptian Mediterranean Coast – or any part of Egypt – there are going to be plenty of sites to see. There are ancient buildings, ruins and statues throughout the area. Guided tours are available or you can explore on your own. Consider a day trip to Cairo where you can try your luck in one of the many casinos (you must be at least 21 to play the games) or visit the many museums in the city. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo boasts the largest collections of antiquities in the entire world. Visit the mummy room and see amazingly well preserved bodies from thousands of years ago as well as many artefacts found within the tombs.
The weather is comparatively mild all year round. The annual average low temperature is about 14 degrees and the annual average high temperature is about 37 degrees. Typically, the nights are cooler while the days are when you can expect the heat. Unlike the desert regions of the country, the Egyptian Mediterranean Coast is quite humid which can make the heat a bit more uncomfortable.
The closest airport to the Egyptian Mediterranean Coast is El Alamein Airport (DBB). Another option is to fly into Cairo International Airport (CAI) and then choose a connecting flight or take a train for the rest of the journey. Cairo is about 200 km from the Egyptian Mediterranean Coast, so be sure to plan accordingly.
