Alicante is just 11km from the holiday properties in El Campello. It is famous for the lovely beach and long promenade which back it, but there is more to see and do in the whitewashed town of Alicante. The nightlife and range of restaurants are the best in the region, and draw many people to enjoying a drink and a meal overlooking the Mediterranean. There are also many parks and open spaces which give Alicante its relaxed, fun atmosphere.

Calpe has a magical combination of beaches, culture, historical monuments, luxury accommodation and lively nightlife. Many first time visitors to the Costa Blanca rent a holiday villa in Calpe to explore the region from, and end up either staying or buying property here!

Things to do in El Campello, Spain

El Campello’s main beach, Muchavista, is the envy of many of the resorts in the region. The vast sweeping 7km stretch of blue flag recognised sand, Muchavista, attracts bronzed bodies from all along the Costa Blanca to relax with the sand between their toes. Water sports enthusiasts can get their fix of windsurfing, sailing, water skiing, snorkelling and scuba diving almost all year round, due to the excellent provision of facilities found at the marina and El Campello Yacht Club.

There are two golf courses within walking distance of a self catering apartment in El Campello. Bonalba golf course and Alicante golf course are both open to members of the public.

The old town of El Campello has much to offer, and is certainly worth investigating for a day from your El Campello holiday rental. The Town Hall and House of Culture are stunning whitewashed buildings, and the House of Culture has regular displays of local art. The Church of Saint Theresa is a beautiful sight with a backdrop of the Mediterranean coastline. Taking a self catering villa in El Campello is a magnificent option for food lovers as the smell emanating from the restaurants around the port are inspiring! Along this coast, people do not seem to snack; time is taken to prepare and really savour food, and meal times are highly social occasions. There is a wealth of historical sites in El Campello too. The Tower of Illeta stands proudly at the end of the beach. From the top, you can see the Iberian remains to the south. The Canelobre Caves hold the largest stalagmites and stalactites on the Costa Blanca.

A great day trip can be started from El Campello. There is a tiny gauge railway which takes you on a delightful ride along the Costa Blanca to the resorts of Denia, Calpe or Benidorm, or you can go in the other direction to Alicante City on the tram.
