Even if you do not surf, you will find that the beach at El Palmar is long, sandy and clean – making it perfect for families, and one of the finest beaches in the area. The nearest town is Conil de la Frontera, just 7km up the coast, which is rich in local traditions and the home of some excellent restaurants. 14km inland from El Palmar is Vejer de la Frontera, which rises up almost 200 metres above sea level, and offers panoramic views for miles around. The historic city of Cadiz can also be reached in under an hour.

The climate along this area of the Costa de la Luz typically consists of hot summers and mild winters. The daily mean temperature rarely drops below 12C during December, January and February, and then really picks up from March onwards. Rainfall is at its lowest during July and August.
