The 18th century Palacio do Visconde is peach coloured and beautifully decorated with ornate tiles, showing the old wealth of the village, with huge ornamental gardens adorned with lakes, statues and decorative fountains. The Milreu Roman ruins can be reached in 10 minutes by car from an Estoi holiday rental villa, and is one of few sites where visitors can wander around the villas completely unrestricted. If you are staying in Estoi accommodation, or indeed accommodation anywhere in the region, a trip to Milreu is almost essential.

There are plenty of restaurants within Estoi, some of which draw Portuguese residents from many miles, such is the quality of both food and atmosphere. Many hours can be spent doing very little in Estoi, with plenty of shopping to be done after a long, leisurely lunch or cup of coffee in one of the timeless cafes that surround the main square, dominated by views of the stunning Church of Sao Martinho.
