Famous across the globe for its art and architecture, Florence’s historic city centre was declared a World Heritage Centre by UNESCO. The domed Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore or Florence Duomo, together with the Campanile, is one of the most recognized features of Florence, but there are an infinite number of extraordinary and beautiful structures to marvel at from holiday accommodation in Florence. The vast majority of sights are in the Centro Storico, which has more artistic treasures per square metre than any other destination.

UNESCO estimate that over 30% of the world’s most important artistic treasures are in Florence city centre alone, and there are a number of excellent tours of Florence which allow you not only to avoid many of the queues, but get to see far more of these masterpieces than you usually could.

Florence has attracted a large number of excellent international restaurants, but for the authentic Florence dining experience, you must find a classic trattoria, which still hide amongst the shops and boutiques of Florence.
