Make a holiday rental home or farmhouse in Fosciandora, Italy your home away from home

Fosciandora is a 15th century town located on the border of Tuscany and Emilia, situated in the Lucca Province. The municipality of Fosciandora contains a number of villages and hamlets, meaning that by visiting one place you will get to see many others, without having to make long journeys to do so. Holiday rental accommodation choices include idealistic Tuscan villas and secluded stone cottages.

The small centre of the town has a medieval castle, church and tower, and one of the most important monuments in the area, in the form of the Santuario della Madonna della Stella, which has be standing since 1662. The area is also home to several fortifications, including the Fortress of Ceserana.

Heading for the outlying areas of the town is rewarded with an excellent scenic drive (or walk). The road climbs gently uphill, past the castles of Palleroso, Perpoli and Fiatonne, and into the surrounding countryside of olive groves, chestnut woods and roaming fields. If you have ever dreamed of a true Tuscan experience, then this is it. Make sure you take a bottle of local wine to enjoy when you stop to relax and take in the views.

Summer is a great time to visit, and there are a number of festivals that take place during this period. These include the festival of the ‘emigrant tourist’ in the Moscardini Villa, and the pilgrimage to the shrine of the Stella of Migliano.
