Things to do on Fuerteventura holidays

There are also golfing facilities at Campo Golf Calete, with a 5 star course, community swimming pool, bi-lingual cinema and leisure centre.

Much of Fuerteventura’s landscape is off limits for 4x4s, so cycling is a hugely popular way to investigate the area away from the beaches. Volcanic craters, river mouths and dramatic coastal views can all be found by bicycle, and for those who require a little more speed, there are off-road motorcycle tours too!

Places to Holiday in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands

Corralejo is probably the most famous town of Fuerteventura. There are lively bars and restaurants playing live music in the evenings, and the marina is the departure point for cruises and day trips to Lanzarote, half an hour away.

Betancuria, the old capital of the island, was largely destroyed by pirates in the late 1500s, but was re-built in 1691, and still maintains much of its original architecture. Traditional craft shops and restaurants thrive in the area, and the cathedral has been turned into the Fuerteventura Museum.

Calete de Fuste, is purpose built for tourism, except the old fort which still stands proud amongst the new developments. Calete de Fuste is also the sight of Fuerteventura’s only 18 hole golf course.

Fuerteventura Weather

There is never a bad time to take a holiday villa for rent in Fuerteventura. Average temperatures go from 32˚C in the summer, and only dip to a minimum of 23˚C in January. There are almost constant breezes which bless the Canary Islands with a refreshing yet hot climate, and both the beaches and pools at the holiday villas in Fuerteventura are a luxury all year round.
