As a famous fishing port, there are a huge number of opportunities to head out into the Mediterranean to catch a record fish, but it is the beaches in Garrucha that really capture the imagination. The palm lined bay is lined by wonderfully soft sands, perfect for a host of sports, or simply relaxing on, soaking in the Mediterranean sunshine.

The glorious sandy beaches in Garrucha stretch as far as the eye can see, and this is the only town beach that has been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness and safety. There is a 2km promenade filled with Garrucha jet ski and boat hire centres, cafes and little shops selling all the equipment needed for a full day of fun on the beaches in Garrucha. Snorkelling in Garrucha is particularly good fun due to the wealth of marine life and clear waters of the Mediterranean. If you would like to try scuba diving, there are some fantastic Garrucha snorkelling and scuba diving centres to choose from too, catering for all levels of ability and experience.

The restaurants in Garrucha are absolutely magnificent, famous throughout the region, and very proud of their wares. The seafood restaurants are particularly special, serving the freshest red prawns you will be able to find anywhere in Europe. The irresistible smell of cooked fish spills out over the beaches in Garrucha during the evenings, which is almost impossible to ignore! If you would like to try your hand at cooking Mediterranean seafood, the daily fish market in the evening is the only place to start.
