Hidden away in a rural area of the Province of Terni in the modern Italian region of Umbria is the beautiful, tranquil town of Giove. A Giove holiday means that travellers can rest and recuperate away from the tourist masses yet be situated close enough to enjoy all of the sights and attractions to be found in this part of Italy. A Giove holiday rental villa is the ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area as well as a comfortable place to relax in the evening with a glass of wine and a stunning sunset.
As the emphasis of a Giove holiday is to put your feet up and relax, there is a limit on the activities that visitors will find available in the town. If you feel like burning off some extra energy then you can indulge in pursuits such as swimming, tennis, football, horse riding, walking and cycling.
If venturing out from your Giove holiday rental villa is an option, then you are encouraged to visit the ancient town of Terni which is approximately forty-five minutes away from Giove. It is believed that Terni dates back to the 7th century and was conquered by the Romans in the 3rd century. As a result visitors to Terni can see the remains of a large Roman amphitheatre which was capable of holding 10,000 spectators, as well as a restored Roman gate which controlled entrance to Terni.
Also a must-see in the town is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. Built on the site of earlier religious buildings in the 17th century the cathedral it has an 18th century bell tower and an organ in the interior which was designed by the Italian artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
We all like to have wonderful weather on our holidays and so you will be pleased to hear that if you book a Giove holiday rental house you can expect to enjoy hot summers and mild winters. July and August are usually the warmest months of the year, which sees visitors relaxing in temperatures of a maximum of 30°C. The winter months of January and February see the daytime temperature drop to anywhere between 9°C and 16°C. The annual rainfall amount for the town is 19 inches.
Travellers on a Giove holiday can start their adventure by arriving at Rome Airport (FCO) which is approximately 68 miles away from the town. Air operators that can offer regular, cheap flights to Rome include Ryanair, Jet2, British Airways and Alitalia. Passengers can leave the UK from several major airports such as Belfast (BFS), Manchester (MAN), London Gatwick (LGW), Heathrow (LHR) and Leeds (LBA).
