Things to do in Paphos, Cyprus

The mythological birthplace of Aphrodite is marked by Aphrodite's Rock (Petra tou Romiou), a large boulder which has been the call of pilgrims for centuries. Also to be found in Paphos are the ruins of the Temple of Aphrodite, the Turkish fortress which overlooks the harbour, the baths, and magnificent tombs carved into the rocks at the Toombs of the kings, and the World Heritage Listed archeological site at Kato-Paphos, where large Roman mosaic floors have been discovered.

On the other hand, there are fantastic beaches and sheltered bays for safe swimming. Coral Bay is considered one of the best beaches in western Cyprus, and is just North of Paphos. Here, the glassy waters mean that conditions are perfect for scuba diving or snorkeling, or simply having a swim. Golf courses, tennis centres and health spas are also easily available.

Tala is also still highly traditional, with tavernas and coffee shops providing spectacular views of the coast. The twelfth century Monastery of St Neophytos is found here, and the town is no more than 5 minutes away from some of western Cyprus' best golf courses.
