More about Thailand

Make a holiday rental, home or holiday accommodation in Thailand your home away from home

The Kingdom of Thailand is the most popular tourist destination in Southeast Asia, due to its staggering beauty, inspiring religious sites, delicious cuisine, excellent natural facilities and notoriously warm welcome. Taking a holiday villa in Thailand is an amazing experience, and there is no way that I could give anywhere near enough information on this fabulous country on this page, this is merely a very rough guide to Thailand.

Places to holiday in Thailand

The broad alluvial plains of Central Thailand sit in the shadow of the dramatic Phetchabun Mountains, where Bangkok, Thailand’s capital lies. It is a modern exciting city, and the cultural, spiritual and commercial centre of Thailand. The city, having never been colonised retains its distinct culture, with 400 fantastically decorated Buddhist temples dotted around the city.

Thailand’s largest island, Phuket, is the pearl of the Andaman. The white powder beaches and immense tranquillity and deep tropical forests have made Phuket the most visited island province in Thailand. A holiday rental villa in Phuket is a perfect spot to unwind and explore some of the hundreds of islands scattered around the seas.

Ko Samui (Koh Samui) is the original island paradise. It is a resort island, which boasts a sample of everything Thai. There are white powder beaches, unbelievable diving, fishing, water sports, golf and mountain biking, as well as some of the most awe-inspiring scenery in Thailand. A Thai holiday villa in Ko Samui also lets you visit the close island of Koh Phangan, the location for the renowned full moon parties.

Things to do on holiday in Thailand

Thailand has emerged as a magnificent place for adventure sports. The white water rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, wakeboarding, canoeing, windsurfing and jet skiing possibilities are enormous, and you will be hard pushed to find anywhere on the planet where you can enjoy these adventure sports in more striking scenery and better weather. Golf is one of Thailand’s most popular activities, with over 200 top quality courses which have sprung up across the country.

Thailand also has some of the best fishing in Asia. The south coast, in Phuket and Krabi Provinces is a marlin, sailfish, tuna, garoupa and shark hot spot, where fishing tournaments have become well fought battles.

I could not mention the activities in Thailand without talking about the trekking and walking. It is the most popular outdoor activity in Thailand, and for good reason. The trekking through the undiscovered wildernesses of Thailand can last anything from a soothing day trip to a week long adventure in stunning scenery.

Thailand is also a Mecca for well-being. The famous Thai massages, spas and meditation centres provide all the atmosphere and age old treatments to relax you to levels you never thought possible. This, added to the delicious cuisine and fresh air make taking a holiday rental in Thailand or any Thailand accommodation a real treat.

Weather in Thailand

There are two distinct seasons in Thailand, the hot season from November until April, with average temperatures in the low 30’s (°C), and the rainy season from May until October. February and March are the best times to visit, when the monsoons have gone and the weather is good.

Flights to Thailand

There are a huge number of airports in Thailand, the main one is in Bangkok, all receiving flights from the UK. Thailand is only a flight away, and there are so many great Thai holiday rentals, resorts and activities that there really is no excuse!
