International Wine Fair - In the spring, Ljubljana hosts an international wine fair. Producing quality rather than the cheapest plonk, wine aficionados quaff and compare along with mere amateurs. Later in the day a little barbershop quartet singing may break out to entertain visitors.

Famous as the capital city of Slovenia, Ljubljana is a delightful Austrian-influenced city. Charmingly designed bridges and ornate architecture are in baroque and art nouveau styles. Rebuilt after the 1511 earthquake in baroque style, and again after the 1895 earthquake, the city showcases a mixed history.
The 12th century castle dominates the skyline above the Ljubljana River. St Nicholas Cathedral, the Triple Bridge and Robba’s Fountain are just some of the treasures in the town worth seeking out. The Dragon Bridge has four green dragons on its corners and makes a great photo opportunity!
Take a trip from your Goriska villa accommodation through the lovely Vipava Valley countryside. Vipavski Kriz is one of the most interesting towns, clustered around the castle inside the 15th century defense walls. The Capuchin monastery has a rich historical library and is open to the public.
