Grimaud stands in the shadow of the imposing ruins of an 11th century fortress. Although it is a quite steep climb, it really is worth the walk from any of the typically French villas in Grimaud. The rest of the village has been wonderfully restored, mainly privately, which has meant that there is a genuine atmosphere in the village which is completely authentic, not having been restored for the tourist market. The low-vaulted alleys and medieval streets of Grimaud are perfect for walking, especially as you discover new little fountains which are found sprinkled through the village, dating back for many centuries.

Grimaud is surrounded by fantastic terrain for walking and cycling. The hills of the Maures Mountains provide almost endless trails for walkers and mountain bikers, with three excellent national trails as well as the many local routes passing between Grimaud and accommodation in Port Grimaud. You can also take a hireling and enjoy some of the fantastic guided rides into the mountains, lasting from anything from a few hours to multi-day trips.

The golf course at Beauvallon offers those in the French villas of Grimaud 18 holes of excellent golf, located just a few miles from the centre of the village. Arranging a tee-off time is very easy, providing you can produce a handicap certificate. There are also tennis courts and bowling alleys available to the public.

Lazy days on the beach are easily taken from villas in Grimaud, as the beaches of the Cote d’Azur are within 6km. Water sports also thrive in the area, with sailing and scuba diving trips readily available from Port Grimaud, and almost any other water sport, including deep sea fishing, on offer from St Tropez, 10km from the centre of Grimaud.

Port Grimaud is a hugely famous seaside resort just 5km from the French villas of Grimaud, perched high on its hill top overlooking St Tropez. Accommodation in Port Grimaud has been designed to be authentically Provencial, although amazingly more than half of the Port Grimaud French villas are actually floating in the Golfe de St Tropez! This is one of few places where you can park your boat, right outside the front door of your self catering accommodation! Port Grimaud is worth visiting, even if your are staying in the old town, as it really is a unique destination, where no two houses are the same, designed to age as a traditional fishing village might.

Weather in Grimaud, France

During the summer, temperatures are very hot, with daily peak temperatures in the 40’s (˚C) during July and August not uncommon. The beaches are a hugely popular during this period, for obvious reasons.

Travel to Grimaud, France

Toulon Airport (TLN) is the closest to the self catering accommodation in Grimaud. There is only one scheduled flight to Toulon from the UK, a Ryanair service from Stansted (STN), but the airports of Nice (NCE) and Marseille (MRS) are roughly equidistant from Grimaud, taking roughly an hour to reach.
