Make a holiday rental home or villa in Guaro, Spain your home away from home

Guaro is a small village in the Malaga Province of Andalusia, Spain, which has history dating back to Moorish times. With narrow, winding streets, whitewashed homes and almost no tourism, Guaro is an excellent place in which to experience traditional Spanish village life. Known as the ‘White Village’, Guaro accommodation offers a relaxed setting, with panoramic views of the roaming Andalusian countryside and surrounding mountains.

Things to do in Guaro, Spain

The main purpose of anyone heading to Guaro should be to relax. The village is the complete opposite of many of the large tourist centres that can be found on the Costa del Sol, and many people are quite happy to soak up the Andalusian sun from the comfort of their holiday rental accommodation in Guaro.

Although there are not a great deal of tourist facilities in the area, there are several shops, cafes, bars and a post office. The picturesque main square of the village is an excellent place in which to relax with a cold drink and admire the many fountains lining the square. As well as drinks, the bars around the square also serve traditional Spanish tapas and basic but delicious meals.

The main monument to visit lies at the top of the village, and is the parish of Saint Michel, which dates back to the 16th century and has a two-bodied tower. This can be reached via a short walk uphill from the main square.

A great month to visit Guaro is during September, as this is the time of the village festival, when the streets are lined with candles and the locals come out to enjoy themselves. The main economies in the local area are olive and almond production, so expect to see plenty of these and other delicacies during this time.
