Accommodation and Facilities for the apartment in Egypt

Transport.

You can arrange for a taxi from Hurghada airport to El Gouna and back to the airport at the end of your stay. The journey takes about 30 minutes and is very inexpensive. Details of taxi firms can be sent to you on request. Hiring a car is an option and scooters or bikes at El Gouna. To get around El Gouna you can buy a weekly bus/boat ticket which allows you to use El Gouna's own internal service, which regularly services all parts of El Gouna. This costs just £1 (10LE) per person for the whole week No vehicles are allowed on the marina, but the little open bus passes by at the rear of the property and at each end of the Marina. Alternatively you can ring for a tok tok (little motorised rickshaw) directly from the apartment (on El Gouna's own internal phone service). There is a little shop and a serviced and inexpensive laundry just a short stroll away, along with wonderful restaurants, cafes, bars, pools and two excellent dive schools. .

Scuba diving and snorkelling

Altogether there are 8 accredited dive schools in El Gouna, two of which are located at Abu Tig Marina. The closest is at The Turtle's Inn and the other between the 2 Ocean View Hotel buildings. All levels of diving are catered for from basic training through to advanced technical dives. The quality of the reef is said to be surpassed only by the Great Barrier Reef. The area is also renowned for wreck diving such as the Thistlegorm. The BBC 'Holiday' programme has featured learning to dive in El Gouna. If there are members of your party who don't wish to dive, they are able to join you either to snorkel or just to take the boat trip. An excellent lunch is served on full day trips.

Kite-boarding

Situated on Mangroovy beach, there is a well-equipped kite surf school with qualified instruction. There is a large shallow area (useful for beginners) and a boat on standby in case you get stuck too far out. Trips can be arranged to try out kite surfing at a nearby island. El Gouna has wind throughout the year (less so in October and early November), and is one of the few places where there is both excellent diving an kite surfing in one location..

Golf Information:

The golf course is about 10 minutes drive from Abu Tig Marina. This 18-hole USPGA golf course was designed by the famous architectural firm of Fred Couples and Bene Gates. Whatever your standard, from professional to beginner, you will find everything you need at this excellent course. USPGA Course Rating 68.8 - 73.7, the course offers men's and ladies tees, ranging from 4334 - 6269 metres with 3 different tees on every hole. The Golf Club also has an aqua driving range with 30 tees, pitch chip and putt areas, and rentals of golf clubs, electric carts and trolleys. Minimum handicap of 45 is required. El Gouna Golf Academy has qualified PGA golf professionals and offers all levels of instruction both on and off the course.
