We spent at villa two weeks in this September (2009). It was my family (with two small children) and two of my friends. I have to say that it was the greatest holiday I had during last few years. Villa is equipped with everything one may need. It is only 5-10 minutes walking time to the (great) beach. Supermarket is on the way, so we were shopping on the way back from the sea to the villa.

Weather was great - there was only one rainy day. Water was hot enough both in the sea and the pool.

We barbequed almost every day. Food is good in Spain. One thing to know about shops is that lunch break is from 13:00 to 16:30! The good is that almost all shops are open in the evening.

Please note that villa is on the hill and one part of the road (about 50-70 meters) is going up quite heavy. If you are an old man walking this part of the road may not be very easy.

Funny thing is that taxi driver was not able to find the street even by using his advanced GPS. What was even funnier that people leaving on the neighbouring streets were not aware about name of the villa's street. Hopefully villa owner provided good driving directions so there was no problem. I suggest you print the map of Mas Vila (e.g. google maps) with the street/villa marked on it and have it with you.
We had one equipment accident at villa and I have to tell that owner reacted really promptly and his people fixed the problem quickly. By the way all these people were very nice.

I definitely recommend this villa to everyone. If we visit this area again in the future we are going to rent this villa again for sure. Enjoy!

P.S. Oh, yes... there is no Internet at villa. You'll need to use Internet cafés - I found three of them in some 10-minutes walking distance.

We had a fantastic holiday . Good location, well equiped .
The village is quiet , not much to do in the evening , but for that you can go to Playa d 'Aro ( 2,5 km ) or Palamos.
We can recommend the house to everyone , it's great !!

Our family (six adults and 5 children) had a wonderful time in this villa. It was big enough for all of use and had enough badrooms. The kitchen was well equiped en we enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace. We could even catch the evening sun on the second terrace. The environment has a great variety for everybody. Medieval town villages, shopping boulevards in Platja d'aro, lingering paths along the coast, plenty of restaurants, very good mountain bike tracks, the sea and the relaxed spanish people. A superb holiday location.

Recommended for: Age 55+, Families with Young Children, Sightseeing

What a great holiday we had.....
We stayed in your villa with 2 families, but there was space enough.
Location, equipment,facilities, service, pool..... everything was perfect!!!!!!!!

Our stay in Mas Vila, St Antoni de Calonga

We stayed in this property for a week from the 20th September. The villa is around 30 minutes drive from Girona Airport and is easy to find if you follow the directions provided. The location is set back from the town on a hillside and is very peaceful. We were a party of 7 adults, 5 of whome have learning disabilities. The access to the Villa from the road is quite steep but there are steps which make it easy enough. The Villa is spacious enough and provides all the equipment you need for a self catering holiday. The BBQ got plenty of use during our stay as we spent most of our evenings around the pool.
The villa is well placed for sight seeing trips and the roads in the area are excellent, I was pleasently surprised by the standard of driving and quietness of the roads. I used my Sat-nav and was able to get into and out of Barcelona, around 1 hour away, without any difficulty. The town of Calonga is fairly quiet with a long promenade, around 20 minutes drive away is the busier resort of Tossa de Mar.
There are plenty of shops nearby and you can walk to the closest one, Carre-for in about 5 minutes.
The highlight of our holiday was a visit to Girona town, about 30 minutes, which has a beautiful historic centre.
I would recommend this Villa as a base for those looking for a peaceful setting whch is close enough to all the main attractions of the Costa Brava.
