Great basic well-located apt for all ages

Thank you Elena, we had a lovely holiday. You were very helpful and didn't mind us calling you for advice/guidance during our stay.
Garden Ville Residence consists of 4 blocks of apts sharing the gardens and pool, we had a 2 bedroom apt on ground floor & our group consisted of Gran, Mum, Dad & 2 girls (10&5). The apt is very well located with both local and regional bus stops a few minutes walk. We regularly took the local bus in the evening to Sirmione Centre for a stroll and ice-cream! We also used the regional bus to Peschiera, Desenzano and Verona. We had lovely trips across the lake to other lakeside towns - note that there can be huge queues for ferries, esp. from Sirmione, as they are like buses picking up and dropping off at various ports and if the ferry is full you can't get on! There are great markets in the area: Lugana market is a very short walk from the apt and Desenzano market is huge. There are several restaurants (incl Pizza takeaway) and 3 supermarkets within easy walking distance which supplied us with everything that we needed including delicious local cheeses and wines.
Swimming pool is large, very clean and generally quiet as most inhabitants of the Residence appear to live there and don't use it very much. However, during our second week, a group of Italians arrived and for 1 hour in the morning and afternoon took over the shallow third of the pool for Aqua-Aerobics and so we were forced to the deep end with our children or tended to go shopping then! The gardens are well maintained.
The apt itself is very clean and well-kept with newly-fitted kitchen area, sturdy table and chairs for family meals and a good sized fridge. Crockery was mix and match, but as Elena says things get broken and can't replace the set each time - adequate for us, but if there had been more adults, another couple of bigger cups would have been good. We made good use of the Coffee Pot. Bedlinen is very different to that used in the UK (actually quite 70s), but perfectly clean and serves its purpose well. Bathroom is newly refurbished - took a while to balance the hot/cold water in the shower, but we got there! The apt has a walled terrace where there is a table, chairs, umbrella, sunloungers and clothes-drying rack. We spent a lot of time here eating, drinking, playing, watching the children in the pool or just admiring the pool when it was lit up at night while enjoying a nightcap.
Overall, each one of us had a great holiday in a fantastic location.

Suggestions for next year

Voyagers Brittany.
Date Submitted: October 15, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We gave the owner a list upon departure of suggestions for next year. We had a good holiday but it could have been better :
No pegs, iron or ironing board
Blankets had holes in, paid extra for ancient bedding, un-ironed
Wall covered in squashed dead mosquito corpses
Mixture of plates, some chipped, cups chipped, no wine glasses
Chipped shower tray, cracked washbasin and bidet
Disgusting shower curtain
Property described as 'budget' but desperately needs an injection of capital or complaints will flood in.Don't regard the price we paid for a studio off season to be particularly 'budget'!
We loved the area but in all honesty despite its convenient location, could not recommend the property as it is. We would not rent it again.
We pointed out to the owner the issues above, plus a few more.
Owners Response: Glad that these guests had a good holiday loved the area and find the location convenient. With my surprise at the end of their stay they gave me a long list of complaints to which,as their holiday was finished,I could just answer, being impossible at this point to satisfy their wishes.I was disappointed because if they had complained before I could have made their vacation better,as it’s important for me that my guests are satisfied.
My apts are not equipped with iron and ironing board.I’m surprised they expected to find them as it’s not specified in my advert. There is a peg for coats on the wall and some pegs in the wardrobe.
I rent bed linen and towels on request.Of course at the end of season they are not new.Every year before the new season I check linen towels blankets bedspreds and I discharge the old pieces.Anyway bed linen and towels are checked everytime as I wash them personally, and they are clean and dignified. In the apt there are 3 blankets, sorry that at the end of season 2 minuscule holes were found in one of them.
The studio is equipped for 4 people. There are plenty of plates cups glasses, but not chipped,I don’t leave broken things. Some pieces (not all) are different as the original were broken by guests.I usually don’t charge for broken glasses cups or dishes, but I can’t change the whole supplies every time someone breaks something. There are 10 glasses of 2 different kinds (5+5) and they can be used for water and wine. These guests wanted stem glasses, which I don’t supply as they are very fragile.
It would be nice to paint the walls and renew the bathroom every week. This can’t unfortunately be done in the high season when the apt is busy. It’s normal to do the main mantainance in winter. At the end of season, before the mantainace, an apt can look not perfect.
They forgot to say the apt is clean, everything works and the installations of gas water electricity are new and certified.Caring about the “lack” of wine glasses they probably didn’t note the new gas boiler, one of the best and most expensive you can find in Italy, the new air-co,the new gas heating, the new micro wave and the size of the apt+terrace, which is about twice the size of the studios you normally rent.
Probably these guests expected to find everything new,and things I’m not supposed to supply,as in their list they also denounced the lack of sat tv+Sky,internet ADSL,washing mashine+dryer, all in a budget accomodation, which costs daily per person less than a pizza.

Holiday with Mum & Mum-in-law

Barbara from Scotland Barrhead, nr Glasgow Scotland.
Date Submitted: September 23, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
I first visited Garden Ville apts in 2006 with my husband when we stayed in Elena's Studio Apt. We enjoyed our stay so much that I had no hesitation in booking again, this time to bring my Mum & Mum -in-law to see the wonderful area and sights Lake Garda has to offer.

This time we stayed in a two bedroom apt and found it very spacious, clean and well equipped for our needs. The Apt we had was exactly as described and ideal on the ground floor for the two well over 70 yr old Mums.
The surrounding area is very flat and when walking listen for the tinkle of the bicycle bells, some of the cyclists were older than the Mums.

Elena provides an excellent information folder regarding bus, train and market information. There was also a lot of info on nearby family attractions and there was loads for families to do. Wish I had gone there when my children were young.

As arranged, for a fee, Elena's lovely husband Walter picked us up at the airport and thoughtfully stopped at the local supermarket to enable us to do a shopping as we had decided not to hire a car. The local transport service is excellent and we used the bus to get to Sirmione & Pescheria to link up to the boat and train service. We visited several resorts on Lake Garda as well as Verona & Venice. The Lake itself is very close by, offering pleasant Lakeside walks. Also nearby are several good restaurants, fruit and grocers shop as well as a take-away Pizza and not forgetting the tobacconist which sold the Mum,s their cigarettes and our many Bus Tickets.

As our holiday was in mid September we didn't use the large pool as it was too cold for us however we did use the lovely garden area around the pool and felt secure and safe at all times as there is a locked gate entrance to the complex.
I would recommend this property to any would be visitor and hope to go back again if I can get a cheap flight.

PS If going please take Elena some British Tea Bags - of course Scottish ones are the best. She says Italian tea is not so good !!!!
Thanks Elena , Walter and now baby Peter for a wonderful holiday, Barbara XXX and the Mums XXX

Family Holiday July 2008

Family holiday for 2 adults and 3 children (14, 13, 11 years of age). Have already been to Lake Garda (just outside Peschiara) and wanted to try a different area.

Property was a little dated but clean and well equipped.
Double bed in one room and bunk beds plus single bed in other room. Plenty room for all. Sofa bed/futon was old and uncomfortable so we didn't use, too soft for even sitting on but dining room chairs and garden furniture were all we needed. Bathroom and kitchen looked like they had recently been updated.

2 fans provided and once we got the hang of what times to open/close the shutters for the breeze/sun we could keep the place fairly cool. Air conditioning woud have been good though, especially at night.

Lovely swimming pool with time restricitions for siesta but open until 10pm, rules for bathing caps and no inflatables but worked well for us. Grounds beautifuly kept and nice to sit in under the trees or in the sun. We were one of only 3 non Italian families here and it was nice not to be surrounded by other tourists.

Local area with shops for groceries and restaurants dotted about nearby once we found our way around. Lake shore easily accessible. We are used to being able to walk to more of a town centre in the evening so drove to nearby areas like Sirmione and Peschiara a couple of nights to stroll around.

We had a good relaxing break here, ideally suited for visiting other areas of the Lake by car. Have ticked the box to recommend for people with disablities as it was all on ground level with no steps from the road or into the building or in the property.

We moved to another property (79064) for the second week and in an ideal world would have preferred the other property in this location!

Thank you Elena for a lovely holiday in your apartment.

Owners Response: Thank you too, it was nice to meet you and hope to see you again in the future.
Just a little note to say that the sofa bed is not new but still good. At the beginning of June I changed the bottom wood and I bought a new very good Ikea matrasse. Sorry you found it uncomfortable.

alles da, was man braucht. Vor allem die Vermieterin
ist sehr freundlich und nett und spricht sehr gut Deutsch.
Alles in allem, kann ich die Wohnung und die Anlage
insgesamt nur empfehlen.
