Date Submitted: November 03, 2009   Date of Stay: October 2009
All we think that this flat was the perfect place to stay in London.
The property is clean and very good mantained. it is like a new house, full equiped as described in the web page, and much more: cds, dvds, games, computer, wifi....
Quiet zone, walking distance to Oxford Street and Notting hill. Very near bus stop across the street to everywhere.
The owners were very kind and they had everything ready for us when we arrived, there were also some food essentials for the first day. We had a very nice stay at this house, do not hesitate to choose this one, you will enjoy this place.

Warmly recommended apartment

Date Submitted: October 19, 2009   Date of Stay: October 2009
Excellent apartment in a very good location. Like new, very well equipped, very clean and quiet. Owners are so helpful and they really know their neighborhood and where to dine.

Only the stairs from the street to the apartment are not suitable for everybody. Our family of five had no problems with them.

Our sixth or seventh homeaway and clearly the best so far. Warmly recommended base to explore London.

Whay a wonderful vacation!!!

Travellers from Glengarry   near Ottawa, Canada.
Date Submitted: September 01, 2009   Date of Stay: August 2009
We just finished up a great family vacation in London. It was our first time and we couldn't have stayed in a more ideal apartment.

Fred and Iris were extremely helpful; giving us 'first-timers' the lay of the land with advice on restaurants and how to get around in London. A very nice touch was to have a few basic's stocked in the fridge so we didn't have to go out as soon as we got there. We were able to relax right away after our journey.

The apartment exceeded all expectations. It's in immaculate condition and with plenty of room for a comfortable stay. It is close to what's important and quiet.

London is not a city that I would recommend having a car in. This apartment is in an ideal location to see London that way it was meant to; walking, the tube and the bus. Paddington station is one block away with ready access to the city and Heathrow.

We can't thank Fred and Iris enough for all they did for us and we look forward to seeing them again.

Great base for

SJA from Shropshire   Shropshire.
Date Submitted: August 05, 2009   Date of Stay: July 2009
We found this flat to be just what we needed as a quiet base to return to after sightseeing and theatre going. It was spotless and well equipped. Fred and Iris were pleasant and efficient to deal with and had given a lot of thought to what weary travellers would need; right down to milk, bread and eggs in the 'fridge, lots of toiletries and towels, masses of leaflets to help plan your trips and even oyster cards ready to go. It was very handy for the circle line and taxis at Paddington- just one street away and there were convenient shops there to if you wanted a night in with an M&S dinner.
They do mean it about access being unsuitable for the elderly - you'd need to keep a firm hand on little ones too but by the end of the week we were practically skipping down the steps! I would be happy to recommend this property to a friend so long as they didn't want the same week I did!
Thanks Fred and Iris for a great stay

Excellent basement flat in a great location. Very very close to Paddington (ideal for transfers from LHR). Fred and Iris keep the place in an immaculate condition and are great guides to London too.
While you're staying, check out the Thai River restaurant (a five minute walk) -- probably the best local place to eat.

London Revisited

Briskiwis   Brisbane, Australia.
Date Submitted: June 07, 2009   Date of Stay: April 2009
Finding a central London location for my wife and I, plus daughter, son-in-law and 3year old grand daughter was no easy task. I searched countless websites before locating Fred and Iris' Paddington/Bayswater property.

Having lived in London some years earlier I have first hand knowledge of the perils of flatting in London so I did have some qualms.

Happily, everything promised in the property listing was spot on, from the wonderful location - just five minutes from Paddington Station (and the Heathrow Express), ten minute stroll with grand daughter to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens (with the Princess Diana Memorial providing the best kiddies playground ever).

Buses and tube to everywhere in London right on the doorstep meant 10-15 minutes to West End or Knightsbridge.

A couple of pubs, and a host of restaurants within easy walking distance.

All extremely important attributes for our stay in London but the most pleasing thing was that the property provided everything we needed.

Top quality appliances, a fully (and I mean fully) equipped kitchen, top quality furnishings and linen, toys and books, two beautifully appointed bathrooms and three generous bedrooms.

London was the first port of call for us on an eight week holiday in Britain and France, so it was a joy to have a week in such a great flat.

We would rate the property overall as the best we stayed in taking into account location, presentation, facilities, spaciousness, quality of fittings and furnishings, and cleanliness (spotless).

The only drawback for some might be that it is a basement flat and with steps down from street level it may not be suitable for elderly or disabled people.

We loved

George and Amy   Milwaukee WI, USA.
Date Submitted: June 03, 2009   Date of Stay: April 2009
We found this apartment to be perfect for a visit to London. It's in a fairly quiet residential area only a few minutes walk to the Paddington tube stop. Fred & Iris, the owners, were there to meet us on our arrival and gave us a nice walk-through. The gave us some tourist tips for getting around London, and seeing things in town. Don't be afraid of using London's tube system. It's amazingly clean, safe, and efficient. We started each day at Paddington tube stop and from got everywhere in the city in very short order. For getting in and out, the Heathrow Express train will get you between the airport and Paddington in 15 minutes.

The kitchen was wonderful and Fred & Iris had pre-stocked in a variety of food items, drinks, and wine for us. There are several grocery stores within a short walk from the unit which made it easy to catch a relaxed "breakfast in" before venturing out for the day , After a day of sightseeing the comfy living room was a great place to unwind, and watch TV on the large flat screen set. The internet-attached computer was a really nice plus! It allowed us to make some on-line reservations and do some e-mail. My daughter had her laptop, and was able to use the wi-fi in the apartment too. There is a phone in the apartment with free local calls within London and mostly free (some restrictions) service to the USA - an unexpected pleasant surprise!.

We found the beds to be very comfortable and the bathrooms to be clean and tidy, with plenty of hot water for showers. If there was street noise, we certainly didn't hear it from the quiet bedrooms. There were plenty of towels, linens, laundry & dish soaps, and other logistic supplies provided which made for easy living. By using the washer & drier our packing was made lighter by about half. It was nice to have a "home" in London for our visit.

We would certainly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting London!
Please say "Cheers" to Fred & Iris for us!

Great location, really nice apartment

Merridith   St. Louis Missouri.
Date Submitted: March 24, 2009   Date of Stay: March 2009
The owners greeted us at the station and showed us the block and a half walk to the apartment which is amazingly convenient. The apartment is very clean and pleasant with lots of privacy for each bedroom and nice modern, tasteful furnishings. Lots of TVs and tons of DVDs to watch at night - the teens were happy. The kitchen is lovely and FULLY equipped, including a washer/dryer. The owners were great at communication and anticipated many of our needs. We found plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs in the area. This apartment is very comfortable for a family of four. On the negative side, the bed in the master is only a double and we Americans are not used to so small a bed. The two bathrooms, one ensuite to the master, leave a little to be desired - the shower in the master sprays the entire room so you can't keep any stuff in the room or it will get wet. If you have a problem going up and down stairs, you should know that there is one rather steep set of stairs you must go down to get to the apartment. But this makes it all very quiet and private. I would definitely go back here and I highly recomment this apartment.

Your perfect home from home in London

We are just back from a wonderful stay in london. My mum and I arrived late on thursday evening the 12th of March and were met by Iris as we made our way to the apartment which is a very short walk from Paddington station. I didnt know what to expect when we arrived at Westbourne Terrace, but any expectations we might have had were greatly exceeded. Iris made us very welcome and the apartment was lovely and warm on arrival. Iris gave us a tour and instructions on how to work the appliances. She couldnt have been nicer. The apartment is very well kitted out with everything you could possibly need for a short or long stay. Iris had milk and bread and biscuits for us and the fridge and kitchen were full of all sorts of groceries, jams, cereals etc. The apartment is very spacious and was spotless. It has been newly renovated with great thought and is extremely comfortable. There are three bedrooms, two doubles and one single. There is a huge TV screen (and DVD) in the lounge and a futher one in the master bedroom. There was also a portable DVD player for the children to use and as extensive a collection of DVD's as I have ever seen! There was also some rechargeable Oyster cards and a phone from which certain international calls can be made for free ! There is also a computer which we were happy to have to book another bag on the plane. I would heartily recommend this apartment to you and only hope that it will be available the next time we return to London ! Renting this apartment is a much better idea than staying in a hotel and far better value. There were six of us (three adults and three children) and we were very comforably accommodated. The stairs down to the apartment is a bit steep but nothing my 74 year old mother couldnt handle with ease. The apartment is very well situated and only a short bus ( from right beside the apartment) to Oxford Street. There is great shopping nearby and of course Paddington tube station a couple of minutes away.

Best Inner-London Accommodation

Date Submitted: February 23, 2009   Date of Stay: February 2009
This basement apartment is a perfect place to stay as it is close to Paddington Station (300m) where you can catch the tube, taxis and national rail services. There is also a Marks and Spencer Food Outlet located there as well for all your food shopping needs.

With two double bedrooms and a single bedroom, it is the perfect place for for friends and families to stay.

The well laid out apartment has all modern features and new kitchen, bathrooms and dining areas.

Well acquiped lounge room with i-Pod speakers, dvd, Sky cable tv and cd player. Is a perfect place to chill out after a day of site-seeing or shopping!

We stayed for 11 nights and had a fantastic time. Please note that it would not be suitable for people who cannot go up and down steep stairs.

Only three tube stops to High Street Kensington and is very close to Shepherds Bush Westfield London (Catch tube to Notting Hill Gate and change to the Central Line to Shepherds Bush).

If you are going away with friends as we did, it is the perfect place to go as it has space and privacy.

The property manager Lucas was a great wealth of information and gives a thorough walk-through of the property and all the information that you may need while you are there.

Our group has already recommended the property to all our friends and family that want to head over to London.

Lovely retreat from the chaos of London

Ali, Dom and Dad   Paris, France.
Date Submitted: January 13, 2009   Date of Stay: December 2008
This property is absolutely immaculately maintained and the beds are super comfy. The photographs on the site are an accurate reflection of the property and as we stayed during a very cold snap, I can confirm that the central heating was a welcome relief from the bitter cold outside, as was the unexpectedly large collection of DVDs!

The entry stairs are rather steep and awkward, especially with heavy luggage or shopping, so not ideal for elderly or physically challenged guests, but if that is not an issue for you, you will certainly enjoy your stay.

The property is excellently located for all the major tourist attractions, tube and national rail are very close as are a number of good bus routes.

We were met and warmly greeted by the property manager who waited for us for a long time due to a miscommunication on my part, and we settled in comfortably right away.

The owners were very obliging with any extra information we required, and were very quick to respond via email despite their being on holidays themselves.

I am sure you will enjoy your stay at Westbourne Terrace, it truly is a home away from home!

The perfect location for a Christmas holiday!

Katie and Don   Atlanta, GA.
Date Submitted: December 30, 2008   Date of Stay: December 2008
This modern, comfortable 3 bedroom flat was the perfect location for our family's Christmas holiday in London. Only a 4 minute walk to the Paddington station, we could easily take the train from the airport and then the Tube to anywhere we wanted to go. It is located in Zone 1, so major tourist sites are very convenient. The flat is newly updated and clean, with a fully furnished kitchen, including a clothes washer and dryer (although the dryer takes a very long time to dry all but the smallest loads).

The beds were very comfortable with thick duvets and adequate space for clothes and luggage. Even though it is a basement-level flat, the windows are very large and the rooms felt bright and airy. At night, occasional traffic noise could be heard, but it was not loud. However, the steps down to the front door are very steep and not suitable for the elderly.

Make sure that you are clear on your arrival time, as we had to wait almost an hour before the property manager met us to let us into the property. I relied on the owner to pass on our arrival information, but in hindsight, I should have communicated directly with the property manager. However, once he arrived, he was very helpful and made us feel very welcomed.

The living room was comfortable with plenty of seating and a large flatscreen TV complete with plenty of satellite channels. Movies are provided by a large catalog of DVDs and the selection was very good. However, no pay-per-view movies were accessible through the satellite receiver.

The bathrooms functioned well and there were plenty of towels available, along with shower gel, shampoo and other supplies. However, there is only 1 hair dryer supplied. Don't forget to bring adapter plugs if you have appliances with US plugs.

The internet access provided by the computer in one of the bedrooms performed well, and the ability to make free calls back to the US was a definate plus!

If you don't want to start every outing by walking to the Tube stop, Whitely's is a large indoor mall just a short walk away and provides several restaurants, shops and even a food market. The market at Paddington station is also good for picking up milk and snacks.

I can enthusiastically recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet but central London location for their holiday travel. It made our Christmas holiday very comfortable and relaxing.

The beds are comfortable and all the extras like DVD's, free internet, books and games make it great for children. We were met by Lucas who made us feel really welcome. He also brought along some essentials like milk, bread etc, which was very welcome at the end of a long day. If you have any plans to go to London you must consider this rental flat. Myself, and five friends just spent 4 nights/five days in the property and it could not have been better. There was more than enough room for 6 adults, spacious bedrooms, clean updated bathrooms, and great (and very useful) kitchen. This flat is also close to great pubs, restaurants, tourist attractions, and a major tube station. Whatever our needs were, I never hesitated to contact the owners and they were always more than helpful. My friends and I were both impressed and delighted with this flat, and are looking forward to our next visit.

It had everything we needed, as a family of 6, to make our stay comfortable - there were games, books,DVDs and computer access, and plenty of room for us to spread out. Also - lots of practical info about the surrounding area and London in general.
The owners really have gone the extra mile in providing a fantastic holiday apartment and we would stay there again in a flash!

We found this to be a beautiful spacious flat which was well located for sight seeing, shopping and theatre going with loads of information in the flat regarding events, attractions etc. With the flat being in close proximity to Paddington Station it provides an extremely handy location for access to all parts of London by Tube, Train, Taxi and Bus. We found everything to be as described on the website and would have no hesitation in recommending this property to friends.

The flat is very modern, clean and maintained to a high standard with all mod cons required for self catering.

The owners gave us an excellent introduction to the flat and amenities in the area.

Our holiday was very enjoyable and made even more so by having this apartment as an excellent base.

Towards the end of August our family went to London for a week and stayed at this beautiful apartment. The apartment was very comfortable and had all the amenities one would want in an apartment. The description provided by the landlords were bang on.

To me the best part of the apartment was the nice size and the small garden out back. A big plus was its proximity to the paddington station and thus to transportation.

The owners have taken great pride in decorating and maintaining this apartment. It was very clean with abundant supplies from detergent to cereal alreday pre-stocked in the apartment.

The holiday turned out to be perfect and we couldn't have been happier with the apartment.
