Great Apartment

Date Submitted: January 05, 2012 Date of Stay: December 2011
We enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment was exactly as described, with everything you need for a short / long stay.

The location was great with a nice easy run going directly behind the apartment block so access to the slopes and back to the apartment was very easy.

It's only a short walk down into the village which is fine on the way in but can be a pain on the way back. Luckily there is a Skibus running from directly out the front of the apartments during the day and a private one for the apartments running during the night.

The support provided from Clive was great and very helpful, so thanks Clive.

The village in Flaine is not the most beautiful in France but what it lacks in beauty and charm the mountain makes up for in snow and terrain.

I would recommend the apartment to Small familys or two couples, and more than this coould get a bit crouded. If you get a chance you should head up the L'Ancolie for dinner, we had Christmas dinner there and the food and service was great.

A great property with good access to the slopes

Date Submitted: June 27, 2011 Date of Stay: February 2011
This property was well managed, in perfect condition, and with great access to the slopes. With 2 couples and a toddler it was important to us that we had good facilities in the appartment and this place did not let us down. There is a bus stop outside the front but walking to the town is not too far. Everyone had a good holiday.
Thanks to the Saunders for letting us use their home.

Ski Holiday Feb 2011

What a fantastic apartment! We have just returned from a wonderful ski holiday in Flaine. We stopped in the Saunders' apartment which is everything advertised and more. The modern rooms are beautifully furnished, well maintained and equipped with all the mod cons. The views from all rooms and the balcony were amazing.

The transfer time from Geneva was only 50 minutes which is perfect when travelling with children. Clive helped to organize a transfer for us to the resort, and also gave recommendations for ski hire.

We soon felt at home in the complex. The staff were friendly and those at reception dealt with requests politely and efficiently. Our children attended activities from the weekly events calendar and made daily use of the outdoor pool.

Being able to make use of ski in-ski out was a dream to my husband. No more walking about in boots! Regular buses stopped outside the complex to transport 'beginners' or non- skiers to Flaine Foret. The ESF ski school were present at the complex during our first evening, so we were able to organise lessons for our children with ease. The instructors were excellent, and a presentation evening was held for the children at the complex at the end of the week.

For daily provisions of food, we made use of the two local supermarkets. Although small, they were well stocked but on the expensive side. Breakfast was bread and croissants which we ordered daily from reception - arriving freshly baked at 7.30am from the local bakery! Orders for pizzas could also be places at reception, with delivery direct
to the door. We also found a couple of good local restaurants for dining out and the complex provided complimentary transfers to these.

All in all, we had a fantastic holiday. The Saunders' apartment gave us the creature comforts of home, whilst the complex provided the 5* facilities of a hotel. We would like to thank Clive for his assistance and recommendations in the planning of our holiday. Our return to Flaine for next season is already being planned - only 49 weeks to go and counting!

The apartment had everything you could wish for. There was a feeling of home with some personnel touches which are always nice in a privatly owned apartment. It was clean, well maintained and in excellent decorative order, exactly as described. The location was fantastic for the skiier with the ski/boot room was next to the slopes for ski to door access. If you needed to take the ski bus this stopped in front of the apartments so very little walking involved. The facilities within the complex were of a high standard although the jacuzzi was rather busy at times. The staff at the apartments were friendly and very helpful. The option to order bread etc. from reception was an excellent idea, this could be collected from 07.30hrs every morning. The apartments also provided free transport into town for those evenings out. Everything about this holiday was great. I look forward to visiting the area again and if the Saunders apartment is available I would love to stay there again.
Thanks for everything Ray

Date Submitted: September 06, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010
Our Family stayed a Week in this lovely apartment with excellent facilities. When we arrived it was raining and only 13 degrees and our eldest daugther was crying and announcing"This is not what you promissed, this is not a summerholiday". But then she saw the apartment and the pool/jacuzzi and she was happy again. I used the fitnessroom every second day with a fantastic view over the mountain, though very hot no airconditioning. We took the carabinlift to the top and there you have a perfect view of Mont Blanc, we walked down, took us 2 hours with children age 6,9,11. We would like to come again, could be interesting staying in Winter, looks like a perfect skiarea.

It's reassuring to hear that even if the weather is bad our guests are still enjoying the comfort of the apartment and the wonderful facilities on offer at Flaine Montsoleil. Now you have sampled a summer season and have seen the mountain in all its glory, I am sure you would love it if you were able to return for some winter skiing.

Stayed here week 20-27 March 2010 with wife and 16 year old daughter. When we arrived the reception staff were extremely friendly & helpful and this was the case throughout our stay.
We found the apartment perfect in every way; its location on the first floor is ideal for access to the luxury pool facilities and gym. The south facing balcony overlooking the slopes. You can also walk into Flaine Foret to the local shops or drive down to collect skis or heavy items(free parking for 1.5 hours).
We were able to ski in the mornings and relax by the pool in the afternoons.
All in this is the best ski apartment we have stayed at in 20 years of skiing and I would choose Flaine again just to stay here!

Owners Response: Many thanks for your review, we are very pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. It's nice to know our guests are finding the apartment location very convenient for all the wonderful facilities. Also, thanks for mentioning another very worthy point about the free 1.5hr parking down at foret. Very handy for pick up/drop off of ski equipment at our recommended rental shop. As of 2010 season there was also a free shuttle service arranged by our ski shop partner.

Ski in, ski out from a beautiful apartment with amazing views! This was by far the best ski holiday myself and my family have ever had. The staff at reception were excellent and the information provided by Clive and Anne-Marie helped to make our whole stay run really smoothly. We loved the luxury of being able to order fresh bread and croissants at reception each day and the free wi-fi access was very popular with our two teenage sons. The views from the south facing balcony are stunning, making our lunchtime breaks from the piste extra special! I cannot recommend the apartment highly enough. Thank you Clive and Anne-Marie for a holiday we will never forget.

Fantastic Holiday!

I can't recommend this apartment enough. We stayed for a week and everything was perfect. The apartment was spotless when we arrived and the welcome pack was greatly appreciated.
Everything was so easy, from the locker room to keep all your kit in to the ski in ski out access. The lift was really close to the apartment and the skiing and boading was amazing! The resort staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, everyone spoke English which makes life so much easier!
After a long day on the slopes the heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were fantastic and were kept spotlessly clean. There is a gym which we didn't use due to the amount of time spent on the slopes!
The apartment itself has a balcony overlooking the mountains and there is a table and chairs supplied so you can sit outside. It's also very well equipped and there is ample space for four adults especially as there are 2 en-suites.
Flaine does get bad reviews on some websites but we thought it was fantastic. There is a spar shop just down the road which will deliver bread and croissants to reception in the morning (this is arranged through conceirge) or you can have your food shop delivered to the apartment if you drop a list into them. There are plenty of bars and restaurants( our favourite was L'Ancolie) and an added bonus is the shuttle service which is provided by the resort. It's available from 6 p.m. till 11 p.m. and the drivers are fantastic, they will drop you off and pick you up from anywhere you want (within reason!). The other good thing is that most places were within walking distance from the resort.
All in all we had a fantastic week and can't recommend this place enough. In fact we are hoping to go back next year!

APARTMENT FLAINE MONTSOLEIL RESORT

Pete O Pontefract.West Yorks.
Date Submitted: September 03, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Unlike most previous reviewers we rented the apartment for the w/c 8/8/09 as part of a three week holiday touring France .We planned to use the week for a break from travelling and to do some walking, as we are keen walkers and are used to walking in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.
On arrival we found the welcome from resort staff very friendly and helpful. Our first impressions of the apartment were very positive, as it had been serviced to a very high standard with a welcome pack for the kitchen, complimentary towels (including pool towels) bathrobes and slippers and sufficient supplies of high quality toiletries etc to last the week
In the compact kitchen area, we were able to self-cater for four adults for breakfast and the evening meal every day, and the compensation of eating both meals with the stunning view from the balcony morning and evening, was a definite highlight of the holiday. The generous provision of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils, meant we could make full use of the dishwasher provided.
We found the bedrooms very comfortable and with two en-suite bathrooms adequate for the needs of four adults. The facility to have a hot bath or make use of the Jacuzzi, pool, steam room and sauna after a strenuous days walking was a real pleasure .The resort gym and the equipment was of a high standard and whilst making use of it you were able to enjoy the same stunning views.
The free classical music concerts given at the Auditorium most evenings were an added bonus, these were given by students from the international classical music school

Summer Stay - July 2009

J & A H Dublin, Ireland.
Date Submitted: July 16, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This is the view of a family of parents with two boys, 18 and 15, who stayed in this apartment for a week in July 2009.

The apartment is exactly as described on the website. We expected a very high standard and were not disappointed. In addition to the very comfortable and clean accommodation we enjoyed the setting and the view. The balcony was large and private with a lovely south facing aspect. The beds were comfortable and the bedroom layout afforded all of us peace and privacy. The kitchen was well equipped. Wireless broadband was free and worked well. As well as all that the owners were very pleasant to deal with.

We arrived on the day the Residence opened for the summer season. Reception staff were very welcoming. Despite having a relatively low occupancy during our week the Residence organised a varied activity programme which was free and catered for all age groups. We concentrated on guided mountain walks (very knowledgeable and friendly leaders). Facilities in the Residence are as described on the website - outdoor pool at 30 deg c. Teenagers liked the fitness room.

Flaine itself was very quiet during our week. One of the grocery shops was open and a couple of restaurants. There are enough restaurants nearby (e.g. Les Carroz at 13km). If walking nearby is not enough then there is plenty to do and see within 30 mins by car. Make sure to have a good map. Teenagers had enough to do without even trying the golf course.

This apartment was perfect for us. We enjoyed our walks in the immediate area (don't miss out on the farm/cheese shop/restaurant at the artificial lake) and our wider explorations (don't miss out on Sixt Fer a Cheval and Annecy). If the area suits then this apartment comes highly recommended - by us, at least.

First time in Flaine and only 3rd time skiing but definitely chose the right resort for spring skiing and what a superb apartment to stay in during our holiday - a luxurious complex with such comfortable accommodation and facilities.
The locker rooms on the 3rd floor were ideal and the opportunity to ski-in/ski-out was ideal. The staff were so helpful and they even managed to accommodate our friends in the apartment next door. We used the bakery delivery service each morning and the shuttle bus service one evening to take 8 of us to L'Ancolie. Expensive but we deserved it after a hard days skiing!
The four of us were so comfortable in our apartment. Our two teenagers shared the twin-bedded room with en-suite shower and we had our own facilities in our double room. We were just delighted by the apartment as soon as we arrived. The south facing balcony was a real bonus as we had beautiful sunny weather so were able to spend late afternoons/early evenings enjoying the last remaining sun rays whilst looking at the spectacular views over Flaine and chatting over the days skiing stories.
We drove to Flaine (staying overnight in Reims (going) Dijon(coming back). The journey was stress free and enabled us to bring lots of provisions with us so we were able to cook in the well provided for kitchen most evenings and then enjoy the rest of the evening drinking copious amounts of red wine/beer!
This apartment is so well placed for all the amenities that the Mont Soleil complex has to offer. If you fancy some wild apres ski evenings then both Flaine Foret and Forum are also walkable (although the shuttle bus service is a much more civilised way to travel). Have to say that we were too tired in the evenings to travel far but as the apartment was so comfortable that was no hardship.
The Mont Soleil complex itself is the perfect place to stay for skiing in the Grand Massif area. We will definitely be back. Can't wait.

My family and I spent a wonderful week at Montsoleil. The apartment is very well thought out, comfortable and well equipped, with welcomed little extras like white fluffy towelling robes for use after the outdoor heated pool. Being able to ski straight out of the complex and back was a treat. We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a fabulous skiing holiday, great views and a home from home. We will be back.

The apartment is well located with respect to the ski slopes. It is a true ski in - ski out apartment with the main ski Flaine area just one lift away. The apartment fits really well two couples. To our surprise it was well constructed, in such a way that you do not hear any noise/sounds of other apartments or fellow travellers. The property was clean and it was a nice surprise that it was cleaned half-way the week. The supermarket is close by and the reception also allows you to order bread for in the morning. Great experience!

For the ski holiday of a lifetime !

Fine-weather skier ! Tamworth - England.
Date Submitted: March 14, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
First impressions were of a warm, comfortable and welcoming apartment - very clean and new-looking.

Very convenient access from the car park - on the same level and only half a corridor away. Brilliant that it had indoor parking - we watched unfortunates digging their cars out of two feet of snow at the end of the week!

Kitchen very well equipped - compact and a pleasure to use - multi function oven good - but a microwave would have been a good addition. Dish washer good - fridge nice and big.

We holidayed with our daughter and her partner - so the completely separate bedrooms with ensuite facilities were perfect. We had the double bedroom with bath/washbasin/wc and there was a shower over the bath too - while they had the twin bedroom with shower/ washbasin/wc. Lovely views from the bedroom windows.

The living area was comfortable - great to spend an afternoon with a book when the weather closed in. There was plenty of storage space for ski jackets in the hallway. The balcony was a very good size - with table and four chairs and still space to build a snowman ! The views over Flaine were spectacular when the mist permitted ! It was lovely to look across the valley and see the pistes we had skied.

It was also possible to look down and check how many people were in the pool before racing down to take advantage of quiet times. The pool was lovely and warm - amazing to swim outside with steam rising around you and snow falling !! My daughter and I were inspired - after two days of falling snow - to get out of the pool and make "snow angels" in the snow at the side of the pool - a truly exhillarating experience !!

The jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were also good - if you timed it right to avoid peak times.

Access to the ski slopes was brilliant - up in the lift to level 3 - into the locker room - and straight out onto the snow - a short distance to pole along - then a gentle drift down to a chair lift - which took us high enough to ski down into Flaine to connect with all other main lifts and routes. The ski home was good too - truly ski to door !

Reception staff were helpful - and the service of being able to pre-order bread etc for the mornings was very welcome.

Supermarket (Spar) ten mins walk away and 15 mins back (uphill) - one on site somewhere would have been really good.

All in all - this is the best ski apartment we have stayed in in 17 years of ski hols. Highly recommended !

We stayed in a fantasticly decorated appartment. Everything was clean, lovely made beds, big luxurious towels and bathrobes. From the car to the apartment was 10 meters, from the skilocker to the snowpiste was also 10 meters. You could just ski away and return, without having to carry your skies. Everthing in the apartment was lovely. Nothing was missing. Even tablets for the dishwasher were provided. The children and adults loved to stay in the pool and the sauna after skiing all day. The walk to the village was nice, just 15 minutes. Great way to relax after dining out. But staying at home and cooking was also very nice.
