A wonderful place to kick back and relax

CW   Springfield, Missouri.
Date Submitted: January 07, 2011   Date of Stay: December 2010
The best part of our trip was the climate and relaxing at Villa Tabuba. Our trip to Brazil was a long, overdue getaway, which was delayed by nearly a year, becuase we didn't have VISA's on our first attempt. Warning to US travelers, you do need a VISA to enter Brazil. Somehow, we missed this even though my husband and I have both traveled quite a bit. Richard, owner, and host of Villa Tabuba is there for you when you need him. His main concern is that you are comfortable and that you enjoy your visit. We did not speak any Portguese and found it a little difficult the first night trying to order at the barraca on the beach; a little adventurous, but the dish was wonderful. We rented a car so that we could venture out and see some of the nearby coastal areas. We traveled north and visited a couple of local beaches, Paracaru was our favorite. We also took a trek up onto the mountains. It was fun to see the bananas, mangoes and papayas growing in the trees. I highly recommend Villa Tabuba for those looking for a place to kick back and relax. The beaches are empty and the local people quite friendly. For us Americans, who like to reheat our food in a microwave, I did suggest Richard purchase a microwave to reheat the plentiful leftovers we had when we dined out. The main drawback for US visitors is there is no longer a direct flight from ATL to FOR. When we first booked our trip there was a non-stop flight, which was canceled. Unfortunately, we then had to fly 3 hours south to either Rio or Sau Paulo to turn around and fly 3 hours back north to Forteleza. Maybe, in time when this wonderful destination becomes more popular with American tourists they will resume flight service from ATL. My husband and I loved the design of this home so much, we took many pictures possibly to incorporate into our retirement home someday on the beach in a wonderful climate. Thanks, Richard for sharing your dream home with us. If you want to see more pictures of our trip, you can visit my Facebook page. Please send a message stating that you are interested in the Villa for me to accept your request to view my page. Christine Watkins VanHoozer

Greatest Brazilian beach villa! Richard rocks!!

Carol   Athens, Georgia USA and Sao Miguel, PI, Brazil.
Date Submitted: October 05, 2010   Date of Stay: September 2010
We (9 adults and teenagers) spent a week there in September 2010, and this has to be one of the best vacation homes I have ever stayed in. Richard is undoubtedly the best host you could ask for, and every morning when he came by he made sure we were comfortable and happy with our arrangements. He also was available by phone for any questions we had. We enjoyed the beachside grills as well as one particular little restaurant that had recently opened. The prices were unbelievably low and the food was great at all of the eating places. Richard's villa is clean, breezy and so comfortable, and his lush garden is well maintained. He got us coconuts from the trees by the pool and we had fresh coconut juice. There are hammocks everywhere and the clean pool was perfect for our families. We spent more time inside the villa than we did at the beach because of the pool. The temperature was pleasant during the day and very cool and breezy at night. We had Brazilians and Americans in our party, so not everyone understood each other, but that did not put a damper on our fun! Richard speaks several languages so he can help you if you don't speak Portuguese. This villa is very safe and your car is parked inside the property. We went to the dunes for their "ski bunda" and if you have children, teens or young people this is definitely a place you wouldn't want to miss. I think this is the best vacation we have ever had away from the U.S. and you will be glad you stayed here!!! Feel free to contact me by email if you have questions about this villa.

The Best Relaxing Vacation

Camiantunes   Dubai, U.A.E..
Date Submitted: January 23, 2010   Date of Stay: January 2010
During our vacation in the Northeast of Brazil, we were surprised with the kindness and helpful assistance of Mr. Richard, the host of Villa Tabuba. His only concern was making our holidays the best ever and for sure the mission was accomplished. At the arrival time, he was waiting for us at the airport and dropped us at the beach house in Tabuba, a lovely and quiet place, one block from the ocean. The house is big and spacious, where we could enjoy the warm and refreshing swimming pool or rest in the typical/local nets while hearing the coconut trees noise due to the warm wind. The temperature was perfect, 29 degrees Celsius everyday! <br/>During the 6 days stay, Mr. Richard was advising and helping us to plan our tours to: Beach Park, Praia do Futuro, Fortaleza (Capital) and the sand dunes tour in Cumbuco (the tour guide and buggy driver, Mr. Jorge is excelent!). There are small supermarkets near Villa Tabuba but we recommend to pass by at Pao de Açucar Supermarket, one of the biggest in Fortaleza, were we could buy the food and drinks for the whole stay. Mr. Richard drove us there while showing the Capital's main tourist attractions such as the Central Market (Mercado Central) and Beach Avenue (Avenida Beira-Mar). <br/>We also were provided with a rented car (for a very good deal) which is a must! We could drive to buy fresh bread everyday and go to Cumbuco restaurants and tours much easier and fast. <br/>By the end we were sad of going back home, as we could really use some more days of relaxation at Villa Tabuba! Congratulations Richard for all the work done to my family, we hope to go back to Villa Tabuba someday!!!

Family Vacation 2009

Jon M   Little Rock, AR USA.
Date Submitted: August 18, 2009   Date of Stay: July 2009
Welcome to beach paradise! Our family and friends spent almost 5 weeks at Richard's Villa Tabuba. Located just steps from one of the most naturally beautiful and secluded beaches we have seen, this getaway is perfect for ANYONE! Richard spares no details at making your stay enjoyable, from transportation to/from the airport, coordinating day trips to Fortaleza, introducing you to the best eateries, helping you shop, arranging local fisherman to bring you fresh Lagostas & Camaroes and even personally cutting fresh coconuts from the palm trees in the yard! <br/> <br/>If you like to relax, swim in the ocean, bask in the sun, stroll on the beach, eat fantastic seafood, ride horses on the beach, watch or even kite sail this is the place to go!!! Great for families!!! Everyday we had sunny skies and no hotter than 85F (29C) with cool evenings and some of the best star gazing on the planet from Richard's private rooftop. Mix up some Caipirinhas and watch shooting stars from hammocks up top, or from the beach while listening to a roaring surf. Can it get any better than this?? <br/> <br/>Enjoy all of the local beachfront Barracas, each having their own unique spin on tasty seafood treats and be waited on while the surf rolls up to your feet. Cumbuco is just a few short minutes drive from Villa Tabuba, where you can enjoy massages on the beach, take up kite surfing, enjoy fantastic dune buggy trips on the Dunes of Cumbuco, or enjoy the local hotel fresh water pools and restaurants. The smoked Lagosta at Hotel Golfinho is a must! While staying at the Villa Tabuba, spoil yourself and have Clarissa and Luis clean the house, do the dishes, wash the clothes and keep the pool and yard spotless. <br/> <br/>Richard - Thank you for making this trip truly FANTASTICO! Adeus para agora meu amigo!

Vacation Destination #1

Frederick Rector   Little Rock, Arkansas, USA.
Date Submitted: August 13, 2009   Date of Stay: July 2009
The only place to start is the host Richard. Finally is perfect weather, great beaches, awesome food, and gracious people what you are looking for in a vacation? Then Villa Tabuba is the place to vacation. We were lucky enough to be invited as guests and what a spectacular vacation. Thanks Jon & Sandra! <br/> The vacation started with Richard who owns the wonderful home picking us up at the airport. He navigated us to Tabuba and gave us a great start to understanding the culture and our surroundings. He was there to help when the VISA network went down world wide, took us to shop in Forteleza. His only worry was that we all had a great holiday. He takes the worry out of visiting a country for the first time because he really cares about his guests. He created an atmosphere that we were there to relax and he would worry about everything else, and he did! There were four kids under the age of ten and he made sure everywhere we went and did was something the children would enjoy also. He is also great at finding places to visit and eat. Bottom line, Richard is exactly what you want in a host when you are not at your own home. Fred, Grace, Madeleine and George have a real and sincere thank you out to Richard. <br/>Now for the house, it had a nice layout and the floor plan is open with more than enough outdoor seating with hammocks within arms reach, even on the roof! Might I add the views from the roof at night are spectacular and unobstructed. If you like star gazing, he has the set up. <br/>The weather is perfect, 85F during the day and 75F at night every day. The beaches are wide, clean, and a refreshing 80F sea temp. There is always surf and the wind switches off the ocean like clockwork at 11:30PM. <br/> The restaurants and food are all casual and welcoming. Chef Rulio's is the place for pizza and very kid friendly. There are a bunch of really good restaurants around Cabuko which is right down the road. The grilled lobster is must have before you leave. If you want to stay in and cook, the house has a built in BBQ that cooks great steaks! <br/> If you want to go to a great place for vacation and have a host that cares, a wonderful house, consistent and great beach weather; then, a trip to Villa Tabuba is the place to go. <br/> I cannot stress enough that Richard makes going to a new place in the world, enjoyable, relaxing, and a place you most want to go back to again and we will!

Hello, <br/> <br/>I stayed at this wonderful oasis for a week and i am very sad that i have already left. With the combination of this beautiful house and the beach right outside the front door, i can only say that this was the best vacation of my life. Richard the owner, is the nicest most hospitable person you will every find on a vacation. If you would like to travel around the area but dont know where you are going then Richard is at your side. He took me to fortaleza which is the closest city and introduced me to the nightlife and the culture yet all i asked him to do was drive me there. He is an amazing person and i will be going back to this mecca every year for the rest of my life. Thank you Richard and thankyou Brazil.

We had a week at Villa Tabuba in December 2008. There was nothing about the villa or the location that we didn't like. The Villa itself was perfect for our family and Ricardo was very kind, and a great host. We loved the area, particularly the beaches and the various bars and restaurants, and we all felt that our week at the Villa was truly magical. We hope to be back to vist the villa and explore the area again in the not too distant future. I would definitely recomend this property and the location to anyone who wants a relaxing and laid back holiday destination.

This villa is situated in one of the most beautiful places on this earth. Every single beauty that can be imagined is sitting here on Villa Tabubas doorstep!! The villa itself is unique, spacious and beautifully designed and decorated. It is a true relaxing and joyous experience to stay there! The biggest cherry on top was the host Richard. He gave us a holiday of a lifetime! Richards’s knowledge, friendliness and kind consideration made us feel like the most welcome people in Brazil! There is no better a holiday and experience as Villa Tabuba and Richard (even including the Maldives and Mauritius!). We will be back!! Thank you Richard :) See you soon!

Perfekt also!

Date Submitted: October 22, 2010   Date of Stay: September 2010

(Juni 2008)
