A family of 4 (2 daughters aged 10 and 13), we stayed for 1 week in August in this lovely accommodation. Although the weather was not too kind to us, the owners of this property made up for this with their wonderful thoughtfulness and hospitality. This accommodation is the spacious ground floor of their house, plus access to washing facilities and the garden via the basement.
We were very late arriving (midnight!!) but the owner insisted on waiting to meet us and welcome us to her property and show us around and make sure we had everything we needed. There was everything, including complimentary chocolates on the pillows, glasses of a spirit (sherry?) awaiting the 2 adults, and sweets on the girls' beds. Everything had been thought of in advance, including freshly laundered dressing gowns and a hair dryer in our bedroom, an internet connection, a telephone with free local calls, a choice of coffee machines and much more.
We LOVED the garden and the garden furniture and hut provided. Unfortunately for us, the weather was not good enough for us to appeciate this more than once, but this would be gorgeous to sit and admire the wonderful views in more sunny summer weather.
The owner was very keen to help us locate activities and restaurants, and certainly recommended a wonderful restaurant only metres away in the same street.
I would recommend this accommodation to most people wishing to explore the Harz mountains, except perhaps those with very small children - unless you are prepared to move many beautiful ornamnets on to high shelves! Also note that the second bedroom is a sofa bed rather than a fully sized bed. We did not notice that we could separate the two single (quite narrow) single beds until our girls were squabbling on our last night - then all was resolved!
