It is a long, steep and winding drive up to Ovronnaz. Chalet Brown is nestled into the mountain side and our first views from the balconies are stunning. The chalet has an instant welcoming and relaxing feel - traditional but with every mod con needed to make a home from home - a small but well equipped kitchen, barbeque, a monster of a patio heater (which we didn't need as our evenings spent on the balcony were warm), CD player and a large, deep bath in which to soak away aches and pains after a long day mountain walking. There is even a fondue set, complete with instructions! In fact, Vari and Jamie have gone to a lot of trouble to supply detailed information on how to use everything in the chalet and to make the stay as smooth as possible. Ovronnaz contains all the basic shops, cafes and restaurants required and has a friendly atmosphere without feeling too touristy. There is a wealth of fabulous mountain walking to suit all levels on the doorstep, often through beautiful meadows filled with wild flowers - and all with continuously breathtaking views. The icing on the cake is the local Thermal Spa, a great way to relax after walking or on a cloudy day (of which we only had one). There is no need to travel further afield, except that one would miss the numerous nearby attractions that are well worth the drive - Sion, Grade Dixence and, an absolute must, taking the cable car up to Plein Morte from Crans Montana - to name just a few.
Vari and Jamie could not have been more helpful - even taking the trouble to email friends for recommendations for a suitable venue for a special celebration. The care taken to ensure you have an enjoyable stay is unsurpassed. A very special place and a truly magical holiday. A must for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, mountians and walking. It was great to find the Chalet Clean and tidy on arrival and felt settled straight away. The chalet has all that you would require and little more if you wish to venture into BBQ and fondue territory. The views from the balcony are superb and the area quiet.
The chalet was an ideal location to visit sites locally and further afield like Zermatt and Lake Geneva.
The local walks were great for all the family and the Thermal Spa a treat.
We would recommend the Chalet and can't thank Vari enough for supplying all the infomation required and making us feel welcome

Owners Response: We are really happy that our guests found the Alps a great destination for families in summer. The village is a great environment for teenagers to walk around on their own. Let them loose in the thermal centre and leave Mum and Dad to enjoy some "me" time!

From the moment we stepped into the Chalet, after our drive from Geneva Airport and the fantastic switch-back road up from the motorway through acres of Swis vineyards to ovronnaz, we all felt at home. The chalet was in a fantastic setting high above the Rhone Valley with snow capped mountain vistas in every direction! We sat out every morning on the terrace for breakfast; had G&Ts late afternoon after our trips out to Sion,Vald'Herrens, Leuk and Leukerbad down the valley; AND ate our evening meal as the temps dropped in front of the log fire (including an authentic Fondue!) with the occasional eat-out at the local hotel restaurants pricey but excellent fod and loacl wine - highly recommend the local red Gamay wines and Cornavin du Chamoson (next village down!) We all returned home relaxed, chilled out and wishing we could have stayed longer. The place is brill and the owners Vari and Jamie could not have made our stay any more welcoming. The owners made every effort to help with key pick up, advice about places to go, facilities on offer in the village and have kitted out the chalet with everything anyone could want to help them chill out in the alps including comfy beds, spacious living and sun rooms; barbecue/patio heater; fondue set (the works); fantastic and easy to use real wood fire; washing machine/dryer; excellent kitchen crammed full of kitchen appliances and crockery and much more besides! We are brother and sisters in our forties who go away together each year in May/June to have fun, chill out without our kids AND partners and to reminisce about the good old days. We have been doing this for over 15 years now and collectively we think that our break in chalet brown and the Valais region has been by far, the best trip so far. We hope to return some day soon. We spent a wonderful snowy week in Ovronnaz. The chalet was fanatastic - spacious but warm and cosy. We especially enjoyed the log fire. It was well equipped - a real home from home.The decor and furnishings were very atmospheric and fulfilled our notion of true swiss charm. We couldn't have wished for more. Highly recommended.
The ski-ing was great and the ski school perfect for out first timer 4 year old

This chalet is perfectly located to enjoy the best of skiing in Switzerland. The area provides a large area of mixed skiing with all of the advantages of living in a beautiful quiet village up the mountains. The local hot water spa allows you to end the day relaxed in the outdoor pools that steam away beautifully as the sun sets. The house is well equiped with everything you could need to enjoy this piece of paradise. We have been to Ovronnaz in the winter and enjoyed it so much that we went back to enjoy the fabulous mountain walks in the summer...... perfect!

The chalet is idealy positioned to enjoy all of the fabulous features that Ovronnaz has to offer with the open air hot spa baths just a few minutes away to allow you to sooth away any aches and pains that you might have after climbing up one of the many alpine walks that are on your doorstep.
