First - to say we had a wonderful holiday in every respect. Your apartment is superb - thank you….. location perfect(quiet but central), refreshing pools (used by me 2xday first&before dinner to refresh), colourful blossoms in abundence and everything spotless & well maintained. You had supplied everything needed - books & CDs appreciated plus very comprehensive info folder from both you and other visitors.

We loved Kalkan - pretty, welcoming and although 99% English there it somehow remains totally Turkish. Hope it stays that way. We intended to try different eating places (I don’t cook at all on holiday), but liked Alternatif on lst night so went every evening - and as the days went by were made increasingly welcome with copious 'on the house' extras! Turkish food is lovely. We hired a jeep for the whole stay but did spend several days just pottering around Kalkan.
The other days we went up into the mountains exploring loads of ancient sites via the back roads, although the 400 gave quick access back at the end of the day. It was such a privilege to walk in the steps of thousands of years B.C. and each site was so different. The countryside was a surprise - green & lush with the springs and the locals very friendly. We were beckoned into several homes for lunch etc which was fascinating - no English of course but they seemed so pleased to see us. However if this appeals, would strongly recommend women not to go into country areas too scantily dressed - out of courtesy if nothing else…. Only mishap for us was that we both fell TWICE whilst negotiating a very fast running Saklikent Gorge and both our bags with cameras/video camera &mobile phones got saturated and are out of action. It was near the end of the holiday & surprisingly the photos are OK although all are not now working…
We will strongly recommend your apartment & Kalkan to everyone - a truly lovely place. However if wanting to explore & be active, we would find the summer months far too hot but I know many people do go for the sun. We intend to revisit other parts of Turkey armed with our Sunflower Guide (our bible on holidays) and in due course return to your apartment in Kalkan! One of the best places we have stayed at.

Once again

Truly delightfull in location - quiet spot but few mins. from Kalkan centre & magnificent views from balcony. Super pools - refreshing in hot weather (October perfect) - grounds immaculate with blossoms everywhere. Apartment well equipped (large fridge/freezer, books, radio/cds, hairdryer) & spotless - bins emptied daily(take small bin liners&toilet paper). Loads info. on KalKan.Owner in regular contact beforehand giving 5* customer service.Huge choice good value restaurants. We hired a jeep (trips expensive)& spent days exploring mountains & ancient sites -roads good&locals welcoming BUT no English. Wonderfully lush with springs gushing. Beware getting v wet if walking in Saklikent Gorge! Will appeal to those wanting to both relax in picturesque Kalkan&explore walking in the steps of 2000 B.C.! A lovely welcoming country as yet unspoilt. Strongly recommend.

KALKAN HEAVEN

2 Weeks of relaxation in sun at a price that currently is highly competitive to most European destinations.
Kalkan is a delightful postcard town with so many attractive restarants it could be renamed Restaurants - R - Us. Turkish cuisine everywhere is organically delightfully tasteful and cooked with imagination. The people are friendly and hospitable.
The property was perfect for access to the town being central but tucked aside in a quite side road. It was THE perfect spot. The apprtment was well maintained and eay for self catering if choosing a night in.
some days the pool was private and had the bonus of guaranteed sunbeds. No need to fight the Gernans for a sun bed here! The local sights and beaches were amazing and even the beach clubs locally were great. Boat trips, snorkelling in the clean turquoise waters, the diversity of interests means that all tastes are catered for.
The only small observation was that the sites gardeners have not pruned the lush flora and as a consequence the vegetation has grown and this means there is not the quote "uninterrupted views across the bay and out to sea, with views over Snake & Mouse Island". This is no longer possible without someone going in with a pair of secateurs.

Owners Response: It only takes a phone call and the gardener is there -has been done - problem solved.
It is nice to feel you are surrounded by flowers and now the view is perfect. Such a wonderful climate everything grows! (sometimes rapidly)

Lovely complex, just as described. Accomodation had all the facilities that you needed. Beautiful view from the balcony. The property was clean and well-maintained and cleaners visited for a mid-stay clean. Agents in Kalkan very helpful.
The owner provided excellent customer service, giving us useful information via email. He telephoned us on the morning of our departure and contacted us upon our arrival both at the airport in Turkey and at the property.
Kalkan is a lovely resort with a great atmosphere. The locals were very friendly. There are a wealth of restaurants to choose from - We particularly liked Doy-Doy. Our favourite beach was Patara, as it was unspoilt. We would recommend a trip to Saklikent Gorge, which was our favourite trip. It wasn't necessary to hire a car as a) the property is located within easy walking distance of the centre of the town, b) you can easily get to all of the attractions by dolmus. We often used the Kalkan cooperative opposite the taxi rank in the town.
My daughter and I would definately recommend this property and resort. It's a place we would certainly consider returning to.

Our Kalkan holiday

Marcus & Catherine   Manchester.
Date Submitted: July 04, 2009   Date of Stay: May 2009
We had a wonderful week in this apartment in May - a real home from home with all the mod cons that you could possibly need on a holiday abroad. It was our first time in Turkey, and we loved both the apartment and Kalkan. The weather was hot and sunny for the full week, and we had a fantastic time. The apartment’s many pools and surrounding area were beautifully kept and we often had a pool to ourselves. The balcony was a delight – the nicest setting for breakfast we have had on any holiday!

The apartment is ideally located and is only a short stroll into the centre of Kalkan. There are lots of places to eat and drink, and the town itself is nice to walk around with lots of little shops and interesting streets.

All the locals are very friendly and hospitable. We ate out every day whilst we were there at a different restaurant each night, and enjoyed freshly cooked local produce at great prices. We especially liked Olive Garden, but everywhere we ate was welcoming and good value. Free starters and deserts seem to be standard!

The setting of Kalkan itself was stunning; the town surrounded by mountains, leading down to a turquoise sea. We hope to be able to visit again soon!

Owners Response: What can I say?
Everyone thinks the apartment & Kalkan are super!
If you don't like good food & stunning scenery then it's not for you!

The best holiday I've ever been on!!!

This apartment comes exactly as described; great location (so close to the town, you feel sorry for the people in the apartments who are miles up the hillside!), really well kitted out, fabulous choice of pools, shops just around the corner, friendly people both on and off the complex, great food and exactly a 90mins transfer time! The town is beautiful and great viewed from a boat tour of the bay (this really emphasises how close you are to the town compared to everyone else!). The locals are extremely friendly and the better you treat them, the more you get in return! We didn't order a starter the whole time we were there (and we ate out for 7 nights straight!) as you get bread, olives and tapenade of some description in all places, but we also got free desserts, aperitifs and tea/coffee everywhere! Drink and food is cheap and great quality – our favourite restaurants were The Olive Garden (the friendliest service and great local Turkish dishes, try the chickpea stew!) and Aubergine (great fillet steak, prawns and sea bass!), with Trio a close 3rd! We made great friends with Durmus at Yali Bar, he has owned the bar for over 20 years and as it shows live sport (and there is free popcorn!) it is very successful! Durmus and his family took us up to a trout farm in the hills on our last day and we had lunch with them there and then went to visit his parents in Bezigren, the old village and had Turkish tea and nibbles before a very picturesque drive back down to Kalkan. This kind of generosity really made our holiday extra special! The fresh produce available at the shops and the market on a Thursday is outstanding, if you wanted to self cater and everything you could possibly need is in the apartment!
This is not a place for your typical “lads/girly holidays” as it is more catered to good food and drink than a wild nightlife, but this is exactly what we wanted (we’re 25 and 26 respectively). If you have any difficulty walking this is not the place for you as the town is on quite a steep hill and the path is quite slippy! Forget taking heels, you won’t use them!! If you don’t like dogs/cats, you might also be best staying away as they are numerous but exceptionally friendly!
We had the best holiday ever and we have both travelled far and wide and I have already recommended it to my friends and family who I know would appreciate the lifestyle! If we won the lottery, we would buy an apartment (or 2!) without a second thought! Thank you Andrew!

This lovely apartment combines 3 advantages of a great location, views over the harbour, plus a clean and comfortable base for our holiday in Kalkan.
We enjoyed an easy stroll to the Old Town, sitting on the balcony overlooking the harbour, or swimming in one of the 5 pools. The organisation was simply seamless, from the initial contact with Andrew, to the local team who were a delight to get to know.

Owners Response: What can I say everyone just loves the place, wish I could go myself but alas fully booked! It is super when people have a great holiday experience.

Late Booking Holiday First Time in Turkey

Dear Andrew

I hope you are well. The holiday was amazing - Kalkan magical, restaurants and people amazing. The apartment was perfect - lovely view, very handy location to the centre of the town and the apartment and grounds immaculately maintained. Many thanks also for the provisions - they came in handy especially after the flight. Rested up mainly around the pools which were so quiet after the bustle of London it was a god send. weather also warmer than expected and went to the local beach and some of the surrounding towns which were great. We had one bad experience in a place called Oz>>> (forgotten name but in visitor book.)Aubergine, Olive Garden, ISO all brilliant - liked Tomato also. lunches were smaller scale but all amazing. bars very friendly too.

many thanks Andrew for a great holiday - all went like clockwork which is unusual at the last minute. I have made many good friends here and will definitely come back!! what an amazing place!!

best wishes
Aaron

Our stay in Kalkan

Date Submitted: October 14, 2008   Date of Stay: October 2008
Visited October 08. The owner was very helpful and obliging and organised a welcome pack (wine, coffee, milk etc) and transport from Dalaman airport for us. This enabled us to settle in quickly which was good as our stay was only for 7 days. It all worked really well. Nice clean and comfortable apartment, very comfy bed, a few minutes walk from the centre of Kalkan. We liked Kalkan very much. Lots of great restaurants, the locals are friendly and there is plenty to see in the surrounding area. The weather in early October was also great. Nothing negative to say really.
Owners Response: I am just pleased that everyone likes the apartment and its location, and everyone seems to fall in love with Kalkan and its resturants.
