My wife and I had a Whitsun break here. Marie picked us up at the airport and it was all positive from this moment. It was a bit cloudy and rained more than we would have liked but we enjoyed visiting the area and Marie and Luciano were marvellous hosts. And very good value for money

Stevie and i would like to thank you both for
the second best holiday of our lives ( the first was when we got married in St
Lucia ) we never expected it to be as good as it was, we enjoyed every part of our holiday. The property was much bigger than we imagined and very relaxing. Luciano and yourself are the nicest hosts anyone could have. you
made us feel like we were part of your family and at the same time pointed us in the right direction when we needed help. We hold a special place for you both
in our hearts and we will return again next year if not before. we hope to keep in touch with you both and we will only tell those who deserve to know about
your wonderful home and hospitality. hope to speak to you soon

Annette & Stevie

For anyone who finds this gem on their own, if you get a chance try and get to the markets in the local towns, you will need a car when staying at this property, but as with anything Marie can book this for you. I challenge anyone to stay here and not say they had a great time

My friend Sue & myself wanted a sunny relaxing holiday.Marie kindly met us @ the airport & whisked us to our villa. It was perfect, and exceeded all our expectations. From day 1 we felt totally thrilled with our very homely and spotlessly clean surroundings. After a large food shop at the nearby supermarket in Faro we settled in to days by the pool & cool drinks on our patio of an evening, and cooking on the BBQ.next to our villa.Outside Casa Ventura there was lots to see and do,but we chose to stay local,as we had no car.If you want to go further afield a car is a must.Marie & Luciano were the perfect hosts and forever helpful, making our stay so easy to enjoy.Big thanks to you both.We plan to holiday again with you next year.Carol August 2009

What a fantastic holiday! Thoroughly relaxing and refreshing. The apartments are extremely well equipped and comfortable. The gardens are beautiful and the pool is very welcome on a hot day. The beauty of Casa Ventura is never having to compete for loungers, never having noisy children to contend with, never having to fit in with holiday reps or tour operators and being able to please yourselves. Marie and Luciano were very welcoming and Marie was attentive to our needs without ever being intrusive. We felt thoroughly at home, especially with Lolly the dog and Mischka the cat. We didn't even feel the need to do much exploring because the atmosphere was so relaxed. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Casa Ventura to family and friends. We sincerely hope to return very soon! Thank you Marie and Luciano.

We came to Casa Ventura in July 2009 for the first time and we knew straight away that we would be returning again in the future.
Marie and Luciano are perfect hosts, they picked us up from the airport and within 10 minutes we arrived at the villa. What a lovely surprise, a nice bottle of wine, some cold beers and provisions waited for us in the fridge.
The rooms were spaceous, clean, tidy and very cosy. We fell in love with the beautiful garden and the pool was great too.
Marie helped us with directions to place and recommended restaurants.
There is also a small shop right next door to the villa which is very handy if you don't hire a car.
We had everything we needed and couldn't ask for more.
Perfect place and lovely owners.
Thank you so much for a brilliant holiday!

What a find! Have just come back from Villa Ventura after a fabulous 2 weeks. The cottages are lovely and very well equipped, the garden is magnificent and the pool is well-maintained. It's situated just outside the village of Santa Barbara de Nexe, which is very picturesque with lots of little bars and cafes.

It's advisable to rent a car, beaches are 20 minutes away and there are many good restaurants and golf courses within a short drive.

Marie and Luciano did so much to make our stay enjoyable and hassle-free and are the perfect hosts, I cannot thank them enough.

Highly recommended - we have already booked for next year !!

Holiday bliss in June 2009

Ross & Theresa   Glasgow / Scotland.
Date Submitted: June 13, 2009   Date of Stay: June 2009
This holiday accommodation is certainly the place for plenty of peaceful rest. Having spent 10 nights and many days of sunshine in a peacful setting we have enjoyed the time we had there tremendously. The website photos don't give a sense of scale - the gardens are huge with lots of room to find a shady spot, very well manicured and beautifully landscaped, just like a 5* hotel. The pool which is lit at night, is big as well, about 30 feet long. The hosts, Marie and Luciano are great - very knowledgable and helpful - always ready with suggestions and booking retaurants etc if needed - but not intrusive at all. Spacious accomodation, Sky TV, DVD with MP3/CD/USB compatability, air-con in bedroom, all you could need - a microwave/grill so no heated oven, but there is an open charcoal oven/ bbq. We took the car rental offered by the hosts, this was well priced and waiting for us at the villa cottage when we arrived, after we were collected from the airport - how good is that !!!! Small bar and s/market next door, bigger shop in village 5 mins drive, 2 hypermarkets about 20 mins away. We would recommend for couples who want to relax, go sightseeing, experience a quite stunning beach - 15 mins drive - maybe do a BBQ either at your terrace or at the summerhouse, eat in some very good restaurants - 40-60 euro inc wine - but less expensive are available nearby - and maybe relax with the late sun at the summerhouse with a glass of chilled white port.
3 other cottage villas in grounds and other guests seemed to all do their own thing - never a fight for the sun loungers either at the poolside or on your own terrace!! To close, a final reflection on our hosts - they were truly great - could not have been more helpful or friendly, comprehensive introductory tour, informative and if (like us) you are lucky enough to help them launch their boat for the summer season, you may get to cruise in the open ocean and spend a fantastic day on a deserted white beach with bright sun and a clear blue horizon !!!
What more could be asked for ?

We had a lovely relaxing week at Casa Ventura. The cottages are clean, tidy and well equiped. The grounds are beautiful - the swimming pool is a good size and the summer house is a delight. You will need a car as it is quite remote but there are good restaurants within a few minutes drive. Good base for golf lovers. The owners Marie and Luciano are so kind and helpful. We would highly recommend this for a relaxing break.

Easter Break

Semaj   Bristol.
Date Submitted: April 22, 2009   Date of Stay: April 2009
What a wonderful place to relax in the sun.
Following a really manic and stressful year of looking after my very ill parents, and the subsequent death of my father we needed a real break.
What a lovely welcome we received from Marie when we were picked up at the airport. (No hassle trying to find the hire car and sort out complicated insurances) The car was ready for us at the villa and cheap fully comp with no "extras" tagged onto the price (like so many)

The villa was more like a mansion with its beautiful landscaped gardens, rolling lawns, flowered beds and discretely designed layout for those who wanted some time for privacy. The pool was quietly set into a niche of carefully planned natural flora with a backdrop of sweeping palms almond trees and grasses. The garden was very well maintained.
When we weren't off exploring the restaurants and beaches then many hours were spent alongside the pool just reading and enjoying cool drinks.
Nina couldnt resist the temptation of the pool and I was the lazy one who watched her as she swam at the end of warm day, and I sipped my cool beer.

The accommodation was excellent with very light spacious rooms and comfortable furniture to relax in. (I've never seen such a lovely large bed ). Loads of storage place, and for those who would want to waste their time washing clothes (can there be such people?) there is a utilities room fully equipped with washing machines and irons and things..

Marie and Luciano were the perfect hosts, very friendly and always ready to give advice on which places to eat at or visit and how to get there. although we were self catering we chose to eat out in the evenings since the food was always so tasty (esp the steaks).

Wherever we went we always found the Portugese people friendly and all spoke very good English. There were many English people living there too some had retired there and others had bought properties for holidays.
It was not difficult to see why people had moved there since the local beaches (Faro island) were so clean and unspoiled.

We spent some of our holiday exploring and walking in the hills and forests where the Eucalyptus Conifers and Cork trees grow. A forest of strong perfumes and of bright wild colours followed us we meandered in the sunlight alongside the streams and rivers.

Many thanks Marie and Luciano for such a warm welcome Such a beautiful place to enjoy our holiday .

Jim and Nina

This was a superb villa and the owners could not be more hospitable and was in a good location, though a car is essential. We would whole-heartedly recommend the villa to friends. The pool and grounds are excellent and are nice in themselves and we came back very relaxed after a very pleasant, relaxing and totally problem-free holiday.
The villa is safe, secure and very quiet and there are plenty of good restaurants within a short drive and it's easy to get in and out of town or go further afield.
We would definitely go back and may well do so in the future.

What can we say? Well, firstly, Marie and Luciano could not do enough for us, from picking us up at the airport to getting in some groceries (including a lovely bottle of wine). The garden was great for relaxing in and fantastically maintained. The location was ideal for visiting the local attractions around Faro (you will need a car to stay here though). Lots of nice restaurants within a 10-15 minute drive.

Highly recommended.

We'd been to Casa Ventura once before and it was every bit as lovely as we remembered. From the lift at the airport, to the shopping on our arrival, to books, wine and DVDs, nothing is too much trouble for Marie and Luciano. Marie, in particular, braved a downpour to direct us to her favourite local restaurant. It's a very special place - and we hope to return soon.

Tranquil retreat

Claire and Simon   Edinburgh, Scotland.
Date Submitted: September 25, 2008   Date of Stay: September 2008
Loved Casa Ventura! Short flight to Faro from Edinburgh, then short drive in our rental car to Santa Barbara de Nexe and our holiday began! Marie welcomed us immediately and showed us around. Great cottage (we stayed in the Olive just a few steps from the pool) with lots of space, well equipped and also immaculate. The grounds are pretty with mature trees and flora with a lovely pool area and sunhouse where we sat and had our sundowners in the evening. Nearly every night we had a bbq on our patio whilst enjoying the tranquility of our surroundings. However there are several places to eat traditional Portuguese food nearby. We used Casa Ventura as a place to relax and retreat although we went out most mornings to small towns to see the sights. Just loved it and although we always love to see new places we know we will come back to stay here again. Marie and Luciano are hosts who have it down to a fine art and are helpful & friendly without being overbearing.

A great holiday location

Captain Slow   Northamptonshire, UK.
Date Submitted: August 29, 2008   Date of Stay: August 2008
Casa Ventura is a perfect holiday hide-away for anybody wishing to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of every day life. The owners are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them - be it arranging transfers to/from Faro, sorting hire cars or even getting some basic groceries in for your arrival.

I arrived around 8pm was shown round the villa and gardens (which are beautiful) and also recommended a local restaurant to have some great Portugese food. Not only that but they rang ahead for me and let the owner know we were coming so a table was ready.

The villa itself was very well proportioned, clean and tidy. Ample storage space and for those who preferred to cook, a perfectly adequate kitchen and supply of utensils and cookwear was provided. Air conditioning in the bedroom ensured the heat of the day didn't outstay its welcome through the night.

If you like hustle, bustle, noise and lots of people where you stay, Casa Ventura isn't likely to be your cup of tea. If it's tranquility in beautiful surroundings that are lovingly and painstakingly looked after by the owners then I couldn't recommend it enough. There is ample shade for those wishing to be out the full blaze of the sun and the pool is crystal clear and very refreshing.

Time doesn't simply just pass by at Casa Ventura, it glides gracefully by with the minimum of fuss and effort, leaving you in no doubt that you'll want to go back time and again.

Not only have I found a perfect jewel in the crown that is the Algarve I have found 2 new friends and I am looking forward to being able to visit again.

Thanks again to both of you for making my holiday a fantastic one.

Casa venturer

Date Submitted: August 19, 2008   Date of Stay: July 2008
You can never be certain where you will end up when you take a risk and book accommodation over the internet. However, Marie was very helpful when we phoned her and everything slotted into place. Marie met us at the airport and 10 minutes later we were in the beautiful sanctuary of her home Casa Venturer. Marie had organised car hire for us and a very new Punto was waiting, including a bottle of wine a 2 cold beers, courtesy of our host. She had also offered to buy in a few essentials, a service we did not take advantage of, but would certainly do next time. Our apartment was very pleasant and equipped with all the things necessary to make our stay comfortable. Most impressive was the setting, a beautiful garden with swimming pool and BBQ area. Facilities we really enjoyed and used daily. Marie and her husband made use feel very welcome and provided the space for exploration of the local area and but were also readily on hand to advise on places of interest and local restaurants. Casa Venturer is ideally suited for touring the eastern Algarve, with plenty of villages, museums, churches, beaches and night life to fill 2 weeks. In our opinion a car is essential. We loved the boat trips out to the beaches, grilled sardines and crisp white wine for lunch, a dip in the pool and sampling all the local cuisine. The latter is superb. We also found a fantastic market in Loule, bought fresh fish and grilled them in the setting sun with a few glasses of local wine. A real tonic! Thank you Marie

We stayed at Casa Ventura a few weeks ago, july 17th for 5 days.We came for the Moto Faro Rally[which was brilliant]
On Arrival Marie picked us up from the airport and she was very pleasant. When we arrived Marie showed us to our villas and our friends had a villa next to us.We stayed in Fig villa and they had Almond villa.
The villas have plenty of room and sky tv ,with decent sized bathroom and bedrooms.
The pool is big enough to share and it is in the right spot for the sun[if you are a sun worshipper]!
Local shop and bar which is very portugese and the locals are friendly.
Make sure you hire a car if you want to sight see.
All in all Marie and Luciano were great and their if you ever needed help.

We have visited now 5 times. That should say it all. We love the place, the location and such a friendly atmosphere. Marie & Luciano are so friendly and welcoming. The pool is cold but refrsehing. The apartments are always clean and everything you need for self catering is available. We play golf every time we come and the location is great for either the Vilamoura or Quinta course, all within 15 mins. The Vilamoura beach is just 10 mins away and is clean and the sea very clear. Vilamoura Marina is a nice place to visit in the evening to walk round and look at the boats and have a beer (or two!) It is a nice walk along the seafront. The Faro Jumbo shopping centre will have all you need with enough shops for everyone to browse in.
Overall, this is a super place for golfing, walking, relaxing and shopping. Easy to find and great for the airport. The hire car we use is all organised via Marie and there is no hassle.

We love everything here, especially having access to the pool with at most only 3 other occupants to share. It's peaceful, private, and everything is well-maintained. The owners being both English/Portuguese will collect you from the airport if required, and can help with anything including very reasonably priced hire cars (any driver/insurance fully inclusive) delivered to the property. Driving is not a problem and the location is easy to find. There are plenty of excellent restaurants within easy reach. You can holiday with friends and be close enough to enjoy the company but still have your own privacy.

The cottage, as always, was immaculate and welcoming on our arrival. The grounds were stunning and very well kept and a mass of colours and scents from the various plants/shrubs especially the jasmine!!!
Marie and Luciano as always made us very welcome and were very sympathetic of any needs that we had.

We have been coming out to the Algarve and staying at Casa Ventura Twice and sometimes three time a year since finding it in 2003.We always find the accommodation, gardens and the swimming pool area immaculate. The owners,Marie and Luciano are so helpful and available if you need help or information. The Santa Barbara de nexe area whilst only a short drive to Faro and the local towns and beaches is in a rural location with lots of small villages and hamlets.
A good range of restaurants are within easy reach. It is a great retreat if you want a relaxing and chill out holiday
We have no reservations about recommending it to our friends and their families. Two of our Daughters and their families have also stayed at Casa ventura and have booked to visit again in Sept this year.

A SECRET GEM

Date Submitted: May 14, 2008   Date of Stay: August 2007
Having decided on taking our first trip to Portugal we surfed the net and came across this "secret gem" and decided this is where we would like to go. We booked a 10 day stay for August 07 and 20 mins after landing at Faro airport we arrived at Casa Ventura. We were greeted by Marie and shown to our lovely spacious accommodation, it was spotless clean and had all the amenities you will ever need. Our patio openend out onto the beautiful gardens and was just a few short strides to the very appealing large swimming pool. The peace and tranquility of Casa Ventura was delightful and "mine hosts" Marie and Luciano are the most helpful informative and courteous people you will ever meet, nothing is too much trouble and they attend to your every need, their knowledge of all things Portugal is invaluable and they certainly can direct you to some mouth watering restaurants. You are a short drive from the beaches, main shopping malls and some beautiful little towns and villages.
I am reluctant to reccomend Casa Ventura as I don't want anyone else to find it......but that would be unfair so without any reservations I advise you to go there and try it for yourself. We are returning in July 2008 and i am counting the days.
