It was a real pleasure to stay in this house. It has all the comfort you need and is a very quiet place in a nice little village in the middle of a beautiful landscape. It's ideal for sportsmen (a lot of options for jogging, biking or walking-tours). The only disatvantage is that guests should have a car - otherwise tit could be a little exhausting to go shopping. We would come to this place again anytime.

We had the most wonderful experience in this lovely home! It is in a very quiet hamlet with a beautiful countryside around it. Bill and Jenny were very helpful with letting us know what there was to see and do in the area. They had all kinds of information in the home for us to check out. There is so many beautiful little villages to see in the area which we truly enjoyed. Lots of good restaurants not too far away. I would love to go back and stay in this lovely place. Such a restful place to stay. Judy & Gary

Our winter holiday at the Tivauche cottage was a delightful experience for so many reasons! Located far enough into the countryside for peace and quiet, yet still within a cluster of houses to not feel too isolated and then so close to Semur en Auxois and Epoisses - it suited us wonderfully. We were very pleased to take easy day trips to Dijon, Beaune, Alisé, Flavigny and many quick visits to the magnificent Semur (which was our favourite of all).
The house itself is a joy, beautiful living, dining room and kitchen area with a cute cottage atmosphere and cottage feel; both upstairs and downstairs bedrooms beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Both bathroom were magnificent for different reasons, the bathtub downstairs set within a spacious room with a view on the garden, the lightfilled upstairs bathroom with an incredibly good shower and wooden flooring.
Bill and Jenny are very kind and helpful and have obviously put a lot of thought into the decoration of the cottage. There were many films to watch, magazines, guidebooks and great novels to read, heaps of brochures about the region to browse.
We would certainly stay again and very much enjoyed our week.

My wife and I stayed for a mini break in November 2006, looking for a relaxing get away from it all.
We found the gite to be the perfect place to relax. Easy to find (sat nav took us to the door), welcoming and courteous hosts in Bill and Jenny, large open, clean and warm rooms, fabulous views, local amenities. All abound.
We truly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return again in future.
We would certainly recommend this gite to our friends and family, and every reader on this website too. You are unlikely to find a better place :o)

What a fantastic visit to Burgundy! The gite was far above all our expectations. The setting is perfect and the house is beautifully restored. We visited between Christmas and New Year and had fantastic evenings in front of the open fireplace. Tivauche was an excellent base - we visited many place incuding Chablis and Flavigny. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. We would recommend this property to anyone. If we had such a fantastic time during winter, I can just imagine how great it would be in the summer!

We spent a wonderful week in Tivauche in the middle of winter. We come from Australia and organised our stay over the internet. The house, the location and our hosts exceeded our expectations. We especially loved the comfortable beds and the decor. The location and views were superb and waking up to a snow covered landscape was such a thrill for the children. We travel extensively and we can honestly say that the description on the website does not do justice to this property; a rare phenomenon indeed!

We visited TIvauche in October 2007 and are returning in 2008 after a simply faultless and wonderful holiday.
It is a fantastic property in an idyllic setting. The house itself is full of character and beautifully presented and well equipped. The host, Jenny (Bill was away) was most helpful and attentive when we needed it and although she lives next door she was quite unobtrusive.
There is plenty to see and do in the area, with many excellent local restaurants to sample the delights of burgundy food. Despite there being no local shop, they are only a short car ride way and the rural setting more than copensates for this.
Our two dogs were also made to feel very welcome and introduced themselves to the hosts' dogs and enjoyed long walks in the surrounding fields.
Fine burgundy wine and weather was enjoyed on the patio on many a balmy evening looking across the rolling farmland. This is an ideal holiday fror anyone wanting to escape for a while in the beautiful french countryside.

The property details give an accurate description of the house. It is a spacious, particularly well-equipped and comfortable house, clean and well maintained. The owners were frequently around the large courtyard - without being in the least obtrusive - but easily available if required, and we found them to be friendly and helpful.
The rear garden has open views across the Auxois valley and you cannot fail to feel relaxed when sitting there. There is ample garden furniture for eating outside or simply sitting.
The surrounding landscape is very pleasant rather than spectacular, but it is quiet and has a relaxing atmosphere. Travelling a little further there is a surprising variety of scenery. There are many very attractive villages and small towns within easy reach, Noyers and the hilltop village of Chateauneuf were particular favourites of ours, but there are many more.
We were not aware of any restaurants within walking distance, but a short drive provides a very wide selection of restaurants..... and also several supermarkets.
Driving is a pleasure, we found the roads (in August) very quiet and parking was never a problem even in larger places such as Dijion, Auxerre and Beaune. The motorway is within easy reach and was never busy during our stay.
Tivauche is an excellent centre for those wishing to visit a variety of towns and villages within a drive of an hour or so.......and a delightful place to return to in the evening.

House was very spacious with all the mod cons but still exuded a real country feel. 2 large bedrooms, best equipped kitchen I've ever seen in a holiday home, extra fridge in the laundry and well sourced furniture just added to our pleasure . The gite is located atop a hill in the hamlet of Tivauche-le-haut. Panoramic views of the surrounding farmland and woods from the back garden only added to our enjoyment. Numerous pamphlets provided by our hosts allowed us to plan our daily trips at leisure. Would love to retire here! Congrats Jenny and Bill!

The farmhouse is stunning - great for families with young kids, but would be equally good for people wanting to experience a holiday away from it all.
Within easy driving distance to Dijon and other really beautiful villages. We also went on a lot of walks around the local countryside.
This farmhouse is well described. It has a great layout (good sized rooms, fabulous chairs, and the bathroom is simply stunning), and all the amenities that you need for a self-contained holiday.
Bill and Jenny were fantastic, and we really enjoyed meeting them. Would thoroughly recommend this .

A lovingly restored and maintained home, with attractive furnishings and features. Extremely comfortable, charming and filled with anything you could need for a restful stay. Beautiful bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas, and a patio just made for sitting with a glass of wine, plate of cheese, and a book. A short drive away are fantastic villages and towns to visit, amazing food and wines, and lovely countryside. There is no shortage of things to do--castles, historic churches, vibrant cities and towns, and great markets all around. We had a fantastic week, and would return in a heartbeat!

We have recently spent a wonderful week at a beautiful farmhouse at Tivauche le Haut with great views over the rolling Burgundian countryside. The oldest part of the house dates back to 1800 and there is a huge open plan kitchen/ dining/ living room with a beautiful flagstone floor and exposed beams throughout. The furniture is lovely and the kitchen is well equipped. The farmhouse has two spacious bedrooms and the two full bathrooms are modern and very comfortable.
Our hosts, Bill and Jenny were very welcoming, and were happy to make reservations at nearby restaurants for us. We enjoyed many pleasant walks to the nearby villages of Corsaint and Moutier St Jean.
Epoisses, Semur and Chablis are within easy reach, as is Beaune and the Cote d'Or.
We would like to return and would recommend the property to one or two couples who want a lovely farmhouse in a quiet location. It is a pity that there are not more good restaurants nearby, but the produce available at the market at Semur and nearby supermarkets is very good. Le Syracuse at Chablis is especially recommended.

We were overwhelmed by the character, location and sheer quality of Bill and Jenny Higg's lovely property. As our first stop on our three week expedition it set the tone and could not be matched. We had a wonderful stay with our two children and all enjoyed the beauty of the countryside and all the region had to offer. It was the house itself though that drew us back. It was so easy to rest and relax there and we felt as if we were staying in a five star hotel that we were lucky enough to stumble across. The attention to detail, the fittings and fixtures, the tasteful and characterful conversion all ensured we felt at home in our surroundings. Although Bill and Jenny were not there in person, they ensured that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They were the perfect hosts. I have no hesitation in recommending this property as being suitable to all age groups. We had two small children who loved it, from the roll top bath to the lovely day bed upstairs.
I only hope the above has gone some way to doing justice to such a lovely, comfortable property.

This was a remarkable place to stay to absorb the French country side. The house was immaculate and provided all we could want for a quiet, leisurely week in Burgundy. Bill and Jenny are friendly, helpful hosts who are there when needed, but never intrusive. The house was far better than even the wonderful pictures suggested. The open, large, airy house provided the perfect setting to travel, cook in the open kitchen, drink wine and take in the beautiful view from the back porch. Places to visit abound within very reasonable driving distances. The rondenee paths make great treks for walking. This is a place where one can do as little or as much as you wish. It is a perfect retreat and tonic from a hectic visit to Paris. We fully intend to return and have already recommended it to several friends.

This is truly a beautiful, relaxing place to stay in the picturesque countryside of Burgundy. The farmhouse has everything you could need for a great holiday and is lovingly presented. From the open fireplace to the outdoor seating area where we had afternoon drinks while soaking up the views of the surrounding countryside, it was a pleasure to arrive"home" after a day's sightseeing.
The cottage accommodated 2 couples in comfort and Bill and Jenny were close by with advice about what to do in the area. Probably the only thing we missed was that in the tiny village of Tivauche le Haut there was no bakery to get our morning pastry. However the historic town of Semur en Auxois was just a short drive away and there we could find everything we required. My friend and I had a ball trying to describe to the hairdresser what we wanted in the way of haircut and colouring with very little French and them with no English. However, it all worked out beautifully and we had lots of laughs.
I would recommend this farmhouse accommodation unreservedly especially for 2 couples travelling together, as we were, or for a family. You do need a car to get around and we hired one in Dijon.

We have stayed in the house in Tivauche twice, and we hope to visit again in 2009. Jenny and Bill have furnished the house with everything a visitor might need - it is full of personality and very comfortable, spotlessly clean and attractively furnished. The little hamlet is charming and there are numerous lovely walks for those who are so inclined.
