Late Summer Break in Champagny

We were delighted with your apartment in Champagny, which we visited the last week in August/beg September. The village is charming and the views from the apartment are amazing. We had breakfast on the balcony nearly every day, overlooking the village with its beautiful Baroque church and Courchevel across the valley. We used the last few days of the lifts being open to walk in Meribel, Courchevel and Pralognan - fantastic views and good, well-marked walking paths. We also walked in the beautiful valleys of Champagny-le-Haut and Pralognan, where we saw marmots, ibex and eagles.
The apartment was clean and very comfortable and we'll certainly be back next year in the summer and may even try a skiing holiday as well!
Thanks again for a lovely holiday in Champagny!

Great little apartment in a perfect location

A lovely apartment that really makes the most of a fairly small space thanks. Comfy furniture, ample cupboard space and attention to detail throughout contribute to a very comfortable stay and the owners evidently go to a great deal of trouble. Breathtaking mountain view through the big picture windows - breakfast and post-ski tea on the balcony is a joy. Very conveniently positioned a 5 minute walk from the main lift. Champagny is a charming and unpretentious real village with decent amenities that avoids the 'industrial' big resort feel - in particular appreciated by the non skier in the group. It's also perfectly placed to ski the whole La Plagne/Les Arcs Paradiski area in one direction with access to the whole Trois Vallées from Courchevel only a 20 minute drive in the other direction. My family has already been twice and hope to go again!

Le Chardonnet is in a superb location as it as only a 5 minute walk to the centre of this pretty, traditional village and the gondola that takes you up to the ski fields. The apartment was clean and extremely well- equiped and was ideal for our family of 2 adults and 2 children. It would be a bit snug for 6 adults. It was warm and cosy and lovely to come back to at the end of a morning or afternoon skiing. We found it so easy to get back to for lunch which was great as it meant that the children had a good rest before heading out again in the afternoon.
The owner Anne was extremely helpful and sent us lots of information on the apartment as well as the surrounding area and amenities.
We travelled to France on the Eurostar ski train which was a fantastic way to travel and so easy. The train stops at Moutiers and there are local , inexpensive buses that take you straight to the village centre.
I would thoroughly recommend the apartment and the area as a great place to stay for a week's skiing.

Fabulous apartment and resort

We stayed in the apartment over the February half term, and we were delighted with it, the village and the skiing.

The apartment is really well equipped, has great views and is superbly located with an easy stroll to the lift and the shops, restaurants and bars.

The village is beautiful, and even during half term there weren't any school trips staying. If you're looking for a truly French experience, I would really recommend it. There aren't loads of bars and restaurants but all the ones that we tried were excellent!

We were also very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the runs on this side of the mountain, and with such easy access to La Plagne there is more than enough for a week! And if you like off piste, there's plenty off it. I was also lucky enough to experience the local emergency services, who were all really pleasant and helpful, despite my pigeon French!

All in all, I would thoroughly recommend the apartment, village and resort to anyone!

The location of the apartment was fantastic and the village was stunning. It was much nicer to be located here than in the concrete jungle that was La Plagne. The apartment itself was brilliant, with masses of storage and everything you could want in the kitchen, including a dishwasher! The snow was fantastic and the resort was extensive, we found no need to go for the more expensive duel resort lift pass. I would fully recommend this apartment and resort.

Thank you so much for the use of a delightful cosy apartment in the most beautiful ski resort we have seen.
Our son's partner Sam & the 2 girls Maddison & Alana all started ski-ing successfully. Allana had her 4th birthday there.
The girls loved sledging at Champagny le Haut - what a beautiful village!
We loved eating out in Champagny village & shopping in the classic Savoire shops & boulangarie.
Great holiday - would love to see it in the summer.

Very well equipped, high standard apartment in a great location less than 5 mins easy walk to the ski lift and centre of this small traditional village. Champagny is a great location for people who are seeking a peaceful location set in stunning scenery. Fair journey from Geneva - took us about 2 and a half hours but it was well worth it! The adjoining national park area is stunning - great toboggan slope and opportunities for walks, ice climbing and cross country skiing. Had great tuition from the ski school, limited easy blue runs but great access to adjoining La Plagne for those who want to venture further afield, We would definately recommend the apartment and hope to return. We were a group of 5 and our teenage children thoroughly enjoyed themselves - DVD player helped to entertain! Taxi transfers would work well given the easy access to the ski lift. Owners extreemely helpful and informative answering e-mail enquiries and sending info pack prior to holiday.

Having fun in Champagny

Date Submitted: January 20, 2008   Date of Stay: December 2007
The instructions were excellent. We only saw or spoke to Aurore on arrival & everything was fine.
The apartment was great!
We loved the village, ski facilities and the proximity of the apartment to the gondola.
The only thing I think you can improve on is access to the storage cupboards in the bunk beds room and it was a little difficult to cook for 6 people with the pots, pans and utensils there were (especially for things such as pasta).
Many thanks for allowing us to stay at your beautiful apartment. If (when) we decide to return to la Plagne we would almost certainly like to use it again.
Good Luck.

Comments from Owner Guestbook

Our last-minute October holiday in Champagny was refreshingly uncomplicated and very relaxing! Your easy to follow information and directions were brilliant. We were amazed at the beautiful scenery and autumnal colours. The village out of season was pretty but rather quiet at that time. The tourist information office was open every weekday and they had an internet facility there, which was very useful.
The apartment definitely lived up to expectations, with the amazing view and large balcony soaking up the autumn sun. We had breakfast on the balcony every day.
We needed two double beds and were apprehensive initially about the bed-settee, we were pleasantly surprised however as it was very comfortable and had the added bonus of a beautiful view to wake up to!
We walked for miles - there are many local walks to choose from including Champagny Le Haut, a very old and rustic village higher up the mountain.
Thank you for a lovely holiday in a very traditional part of The Alps.
