Great Place to stay

Date Submitted: August 23, 2009   Date of Stay: June 2009
Having looked for ages for a suitable place for 5 adults to spend a week in New York i came across Grace and Tonys' ad - i am so glad that i booked this place! It was everything and more - its bright, clean, spacious and well equiped and having Tony around to give advice and info on all the best places to go locally was a definate bonus- the closeness to manhatten was a pleasant suprise - and the neighbourhood is lovely - it has a real laid back family vibe - it felt very safe and gave us a real taste of new york living.

I would definately recommend a stay here - in fact i would not hesitate to re-book if we ever make it back to new york

Tony, you are an absolute star and thank you for helping to make our stay in New York such a memorable experience

Thank's for a great stay. We was 5 people who stayed in unit A from 29.06 to 08.07.09. We had a great time in Woodside. It was lovely to stay there because it was quit.
We needed that after all the people and noise in Manhatten. We used about 15 min. with the subway in to Manhatten. The appartment was big and clean.
We will stay there again when we are going to New York.

Wonderful home in the real New York!

Grace and Tony,
Thank you both for the use of your beautiful house in Woodside. John, the children (all 5 of them!), and I had the most fabulous time in New York. We got a slice of authentic New York living, thanks to the location of the house, it was so easy to shop, eat out and travel in and out of Manhatten. What a friendly neighbourhood, our kids even played ball on the street! We got to taste the famous Donovans Burger!! , just around the corner. We could not have asked for a better home from home during our stay in NY, and will definitely be returning next Summer. Thanks again to you both,
Mary

City break to NYC with grumpy teenagers

Our first visit as a family to NYC and the apartment was fab- clean, comfortable and loads of space. We mastered the subway and loved our trip and enjoyed coming back to the tranquility of Woodside.

Apart from all the touristy bits in Manhatten We enjoyed breakfast at the bagel shop at the end of the road, and dinner at Donovans in woodside- great value. We also loved the chinese supermarket on Rossevelt Avenue. It really was a home away from home

Family Trip for Brother's Birthday Celebration

Bajans   Bridgetown, Barbados.
Date Submitted: February 04, 2009   Date of Stay: January 2008
Meant to post a review but time did not permit and it has been a year already. Wow time flies.
My family and I (husband, son, cousin from Barbados and my brother and wife from England) stayed for one week at this lovely 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apt in Queens. My nephew and his wife (from DC) stayed the weekend in the studio. I must admit I was a tad skeptical at first with booking a home away from home place online, first time, but I was totally satisfied once I arrived. We all were. Clean, modern, comfortable, spacious, great location. What we loved the most was the commute to Manhattan and the little stores near by. You know what - all six of us were under one roof without feeling too crowded for me that is a plus. My husband liked the idea that he could make breakfast every morning instead of eating out.
What can I say about Super Mike except as his title states - he was extremely helpful and having the same name as my husband and son made him extra special to the family :).
Grace and by extension Tony thanks for allowing us to stay at your beautiful place. Will surely return again and strongly recommend it to others. All the best for the New Year. Jesse and Family

One week in Woodside, Queens on our trip to NYC

Dear Grace, dear Tony,

Just to tell that we enjoyed our stay very much and that we got home well. The residence was really what we hoped to find and the neighbourhood was also very cozy and friendly. A good place to rest after long days in Manhattan.

Supermike, the taxi you ordered, the comfort in the appartment, the silence in the rooms at night and also of course the good idea from Tony to send us to the Italian restaurant on 57th Street. It was really fantastic and the food was terrific.
Thanks again for everything and we will surely make publicity to friends and family eventually planning a visit to New York.

Regards and take care!

We`ve just returned from a week in New York and we were so happy to stay at Grace`s and Tony`s unit B.
After we met Tony we were informed about everything that was going on in the Woodside neighbourhood, we found delicious restaurants and had a lot of laughs with him.
It was a very good idea to rent this apartment. Where else in New York could you find an 3 bedroom-apartment for this price?!
We are a family of 4, you can fix your own breakfast, our teenage-kids loved the privacy of an own bedroom and after the busy days in Manhattan we were thankful for this quiet place.
It´s really nice furnished and we slept so good, thanks a lot for the wonderful beds.
We recommend Grace and Tony´s townhouse to everyone who is looking for some space, comfort and a place away from the madness in midtown. And the subway is really cool and easy to catch, for a short ride into the city.
This is really a great place to stay.
Next time we will come to New York, we´ll surly look for this unit again! Thanks a lot from Germany,
Iris, Zoe, Leif and Ralf :-))

A week in Woodside

FrankTinaLucasDon   Mansfield UK.
Date Submitted: June 04, 2008   Date of Stay: May 2007
Stayed at Grace and Tony's using it as a base for doing the 5 Boros Bike Ride in May. The apartment is great the neighbourhood is fine. You're safer in this area than most in the UK. No problems wandering about late in the evening. Plenty of local pubs bars and shops locally. Locals are curious to see nutcases on bikes all the way from the UK, but thats it. Wouldn't hesitate to take my wife and kids there again. To get there catch the Air train, monorail out of JFK, then the Long Island rail road to Woodside. Forget that Taxi and Limo nonsense.

Great stay in NYC

Marie-Hélene   Nantes FRANCE.
Date Submitted: June 01, 2008   Date of Stay: April 2008

We passed 10 days at Grace and Tony.
It is a great very recent, very big, very brilliant apartment, equipped well with nice furniture.
Attention: in every house there are 2 superimposed apartments : choose rather upstairs because the floor is not very well soundproofed.
We were 5 (2 adults and 3 teenagers of 18, 17 and 13 years): there was no problem of sleeping around.
Every room is very big: it is really pleasant to live.
The accommodation is situated 5 mn of shops and especially of the subway station. The subway station is a rather important station and all the trains stop there. It is approximately 20 mn to go to Grand Central.
Finally, the reception was great. We met Tony and especially Super Mike who takes charge of all the apartments: they are really kind, friendly and very arrangeants. As soon as there is one concerns or a question, they are here, they take charge of luggage and of the taxi to leave, …
To end, it is a great address for a great accommodation, super well situated to Manhattant and with a great Grace, Tony and Super Mike.
If we return to New York City or if we send friends of us: it will be necessarily at Grace's and Tony.
Bye Bye (excuses for our bad English !!!)

Staying "Woodside"

LDR   Holly Springs, NC.
Date Submitted: May 27, 2008   Date of Stay: May 2008
Wanted to let you know that we enjoyed our time in Unit D and suite. Accomodation was perfect for us and we enjoyed the extra spaciousness, the big beds and the living -room/ kitchen was just the ticket for our group.
Woodside neigherborhood was delightful : markets with good and cheap produce, butchers, bakeshops and pubs...and an amazing variety of peoples and goods. La Flor restaurant was bohemian and delightful. Food was excellent (I recommend the lamb shank). Bakery too. Had time for beer and lunch at Saint & Sinners and Donovan's. First rate. The easy access to the No. 7 subway from 61st or 52nd was perfect and we always felt comfortable and 'at home' coming back to Woodside and 56th. Even the roar of the L train seemed charming....tho maybe not forever. Nice neighborhood. Super Mike really was super.
Thank you. We would recommend your townhomes to anyone...and hope to come again.

Our week in NY

Hetty   Holland.
Date Submitted: May 25, 2008   Date of Stay: May 2008
Dear Grace and Tony,
In every way we had a wonderful week in your appartment. We were with six persons, had thought of a hotel but this was so much better. The neighbourhood, quiet, the little shops that were open whenever you came, the sound of the subway and within 15 minutes you were at Times Square. We also went to the Yankees, what an experience. Thanks for everything, I sure will recommend it and who knows we'll come again. All the best, Hetty from the Netherlands.

New York at your own pace!

helen&ian   wolverhampton, uk.
Date Submitted: February 18, 2008   Date of Stay: February 2008
This accommodation is highly recommended. If you thought you couldn't afford to rent space and comfort this close to the Big Apple think again!

Our family consists of myself, wife Helen and our 3 boys aged 15, 14 and 10 and we've just returned from a fantastic week in New York staying in one of Grace and Tony's apartments (although apartment doesn't really do it justice!).

Our accommodation (apartment C) comprised of a huge loft style beautifully furnished modern lounge/kitchen/diner, a family bathroom, 2 bedrooms with king and queen size beds respectively and a third en-suite room with 2 large double beds. The lounge had a TV and dvd player and the kitchen was complete with a full range cooker, fridge freezer and dishwasher. We didn't need laundry equipment but there was a washer and dryer in the garage had we wanted them!

Everything was spotlessly clean and well maintained and everything worked!

Communication via email was excellent and every message we sent was responded to immediately. Grace and Tony made sure we had all the information we needed to get the most out of our holiday.

The apartment is is Woodside (a district of Queens with plenty of shops and restaurants) and is easy to reach. Upon arrival at JFK you simply follow the signs to the Airtrain which takes you to Jamaica station. from there you can either take the Subway (1 change required - there are elevators to assist with cases etc) or the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) - both take you to Woodside station. From Woodside it's literally a 5 minute walk to the apartment.

I'd advise buying a Metrocard to get in and out of the city. The Subway is clean, fast and feels very safe (even when travelling in the evening) and it's good fun working out the various ways to get around the city by hopping on and off here and there. A 7 day adult ticket cost just 24 dollars and gives access to every Subway line and all the New York buses too. If you take the 7 train from 61st St, Woodside it's 15 - 20 minutes to Times Square.

We also bought the New York Pass for everyone in our party - it gives free entry to most of the cities main attractions and discounts off shopping and dining (we ate at Planet Hollywood most days and saved 40 dollars off each bill with our youngest eating for free!)

If you want all the excitement and sightseeing that New York has to offer followed by a private oasis away from all the hustle and bustle to unwind at the end of each day this is the place for you.

Comments from Owner Guestbook

Exceaded all our expectations. Was closer to everything than we had thought (via.. subways) wich are very user friendly to those who have not used them before. Very close to the best restaraunt I have ever ate at , a diamond in the rough very much how I would describe this place. Very clean and well maintained would highly recomend this place. we will be going back as much as possible. Fell in love with the place, and maid some new friends for life.
