Although we were pretty shattered after the journey, the weather was warm and dry and the birds were singing at the top of their voices and we could relax on the balcony with a drink. We were really taken with Port Douglas; the first place we went to was the Central Hotel, where we soaked up the Australian atmosphere. On your recommendation we went to On the Inlet for a meal to celebrate our daughter's and son's birthdays. It was a little bit of heaven, with the sunshine, the blue sea, the mangroves and the mountains. We also went on Wave Dancer to the Low Isles as you recommended and went snorkelling for the first time, went crocodile spotting on the Daintree River, sat on the beach, cycled to and from town and mostly didn't do much, which we badly needed.
We went to re:hab on Macrossan Street for coffee rather too much, but loved it, and had a few breakfasts at Beaches Cafe on the Esplanade.
The staff at Ray White were very helpful with the few minor problems we had. It was great having the bikes to cycle in to town, as it was a good 15 minute walk but five minutes on the bikes.
