This is a surprising place, and we had it all for just two of us! Who would think that you could be so close to everything, but still enjoy your own oasis of calm. The house has everything you need and is very well equipped. We enjoyed a very relaxing week, with daily breakfast provided by the wonderful Sadir. As we arrived in the evening Sadir provided us with a wonderful meal, which we washed down with duty free wine. We had sunshine, a bit of rain, and some windy conditions, but we always managed to enjoy ourselves. The sun moves round the house, so you can always find a sunny spot to relax and read your book.
Although we were on holiday we did appreciate keeping in touch with the rest of the world using the house wi-fi connection. The locals are very friendly and even understood our rusty french. We enjoyed shopping for fruit and other goodies, people-watching from street cafes, and visiting as many restaurants as we could.
The owners supplied us with lots of helpful information which we really appreciated. The local managers of the house were great and nothing was too much trouble for them. When can we go again?

A very nice property, nicely decorated, very well equipped and pleasant . Would highly recommend to anyone planning to go to Essaouira.

The kids have enjoyed it very much and everything was great.

Foued was pleasant and helpful. He arranged a quad bike excursion for us which I highly recommend. Hopefully we will make a return visit in the very near future.

Thank you for letting us stay in your charming house in Essaouira. We found it an oasis of peace and calm after the busy, bustling streets of the Medina. It was wonderful to open the door and leave the chaos behind. It was very easy to sit on the roof terrace and while away the hours reading & sitting in the sun.

We had been to Essaouira before and always thought it was a lovely place. Different enough to be interesting but quite manageable. Had good fun doing the shopping but drew the line at the butchers!. This is where Sadir came into her own as she provided the occasional ,, very good, meat/fish tagines.

Foued and Sadir was both very helpful and looked after us well.
Hopefully at some point we will make a return visit.

I've just spent 10 days at this house and I am most impressed.
The house is an oasis of calmness in a friendly but bustling craft community.
At night you can hear the waves crashing in the distance, in the morning you can hear the call to prayer and then the muffled noise of an industrious craft centre. When you leave the property you leave the quietness and become part of the hubbub.
The property is situated on a major artery so it is easy to locate.
There are many excellent restaurants in Essaouira.
There are plenty of shops selling various crafts and most of the sellers are not too pushy.
The house keeper (Sadir) can be asked to prepare breakfast and/or the evening meal, these are very good and very reasonably priced if you don't always want to eat out.
The house is very beautiful and in reasonably good repair, the water pressure for the showers can be a bit variable but I treated this as part of the charm.
I would be very happy to go back.

We just want to reiterate everything everyone else has said about their stay at Dar-Zette. We had a lovely 2 weeks in Essaouira and had the whole house to ourselves (just the 2 of us).

The people were welcoming, helpful and friendly, and we felt very safe in the medina.

Sadir is just as lovely as everyone says, and Nouredine was a charming young man who helped out while Foued awaited a new addition to his family.

Sun lovers will appreciate the rooftop terrace.

This was our first foray into booking a holiday without using a tourist agency and Ernie was very patient with us and was extremely helpful thoughout with our numerous queries! His replies were prompt and very much appreciated. He also provided several pages of recommended restaurants and we were glad of his advice as there were so many eateries it was quite mind-boggling!

Book Dar-Zette and you won't be disapppointed.

Artists stay at Dar Zette

As soon as we entered Dar Zette's enchanting courtyard I knew we were in for a treat. The websites photos although good didn't really convey its true charm. As a painter I saw plenty source material for paintings not only fom the various terraces but from the small roof terrace which overlooks a fascinating view of sky and roof top terraces.
We were well looked after by Foued who looked in on us occasionally to make sure everything was ok and Sadir provided us with splendid breakfasts which included moroccan crepes which I now really miss.I would also recommend Sadir's fish tagine - delish.
The house is ideally situated in the medina not far from the harbour or the seaside and a great place for artists ,photographers, cat lovers and holidaymakers young and old.
All in all our stay at Dar Zette was a most enjoyable and productive( started 8 paintings which I hope to finish at my studio)and left us all feeling like we could have done with another fortnight as we were just getting into the Moroccan flow of life.

Fantastic holiday home in wonderful Essaouria

We had a great stay in Dar Zette. The Riad is lovely and extremely well appointed - everything you need for a home from home holiday. The beds were probably the most comfortable I have ever slept in! We were there during December and it was a bit chilly at times but the log fire made it wonderful and cosy but would love to return again and experience the house in summer too.
Penny and Ernie, the owners were more than helpful with making the booking and giving advice.............a must is to eat at Villa Maroc which is lovely but the best experience ever was at the restaurant Elizir.....just amazing - crazy but amazing and excellent food too. Had a wonderful birthday there. Essaouria is also a great place to visit in Morocco - really impressed and sure we will return sometime. Thanks also to Foued who was always there if you needed any help. Love to you all and see you again - enshallah! Jill, Jack, Terry and Perri

Right in the heart of the medina

We spent 10 days here in March and enjoyed our stay. There were just the two of us and it was nice to have the space to ourselves.

The house is very well positioned for getting around town and near lots of nice restaurants as well as the souk.

The decor was nice and light, with some interesting pieces. We struggled to find a comfortable chair to read in - nothing quite worked for either of us.

The fireplace was a bit erratic and we often had to flee the sitting room because of the smoke.

Bedrooms and bathrooms not big but enough for our needs. Not sure of the loo roll etiquette - we seemed to go through a lot and ended up buying it ourselves as so little was put out for us!

Ground floor loo seems to have a bit of an odour problem, bit the others were fine. Plenty of hot water for showers but somehow not for the bath.

We had to ask to have laundry done rather than being able to do it ourselves, which was not so convenient.

It was very windy and quite cold much of the time so we went through a vast supply of firewood and had to have more delivered which Fouad did very willingly. he also came out one night when we had a power cut and sorted things out. Sadir, the maid, was lovely and cooked tagine for us a couple of times.

Due to lack of baggage allowance, we didn't have enough books with us so made use of the mini library and left our books behind to join it.

All in all we had a lovely stay and would go again one day.

The house is beautiful, an oasis of calm after the busy street. We had very good weather so made full use of the roof terrace.
Sadir was lovely and made us a wonderful Tagine on the night we arrived, this was the best we had all week. Fouad looked after us all week, arranged a camel ride and quad biking, both were very well organised and had better safety than I expected. (our son still managed to part company with the camel but it just created a lot of laughter)
The people of Essaouria were kind and welcoming, although the cultural difference is so great, we felt comfortable walking around the streets day and night.
I cannot think of anything negative to say. It was a lovely week and we all enjoyed it thoroughly.
We have rented accommodation independently over the last 7 years so have plenty to compare Dar-Zette to. The best compliment I can give you is that we felt more like your guests than renters !

G,K & Fam
