Trip to Paris

Date Submitted: November 18, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
Six of us visited Paris and stayed at the apartment for my daughter's 18th birthday. We loved the great central location and walked pretty well everywhere. When we needed to use the Metro it was minutes away. The shops and restaurants are so convenient you didn't have to walk far to find somewhere nice to eat after a long day sightseeing. By the end of our visit we had even got used to the stairs!
Sam was really helpful during our very smooth booking and stay. Thank you very much. We look forward to returning next year to try and see more of Paris. Debbie & Family, Birmingham

Review of 6th floor Paris appartment - 2eme Arrond

Mike and Sarah Sheffield.
Date Submitted: August 03, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Loads of good things to say about this place. Sam, the owner, communicates well and is very helpful. She lives locally and can provide lots of useful tips about how to get the best out of Paris. (best tip - get your Disney tickets from the Virgin store in town or at the Louvre centre 5 days before you visit, because they are half the price of tickets bought on the day). The extensive comments in the guests book are also most instructive, particularly about the immediate areas around the flat.
The flat is ideally place for exploring central Paris. There is no parking at the flat but I found the cheapest public car park in Paris was about 3 miles away at the junction of Rue Gaston Tessier and Rue de Crimee (web site of parkingsdeparis) . I dropped the family at the flat and ran back - each to his own, but the closer to the centre you are the more expensive parking becomes.
You can walk everywhere around Paris as we did - alternatively there are three different tube line stations within a 5 minute walk of the flat. Local shops are great and the pedestrianised Rue Montorgueil seems famous for its food shops. The flat is on the 6th floor, approx 100 steps up a beautiful and original wooden staircase. There are two separate bedroooms and a good double sofa bed in the living room. It sleeps 6 but it's a small flat with one bathroom so beware it'll be a tight fit. Kitchen is good with everything we wanted - bathroom is ok, although the shower drain blocked up too easilly and because the window was fixed closed it became very steamy. Comfy beds and pleasant features and fittings creating a good atmosphere and relaxing feeling. The only views are of the inner courtyard, but it means the place is incredibly quiet with no traffic noise at all. Free phone and internet access if you bring your own LT. We really enjoyed it and were happy to put up with the trek upstairs in lieu of travelling in from the suburbs daily. The Louvre is a 10 minute walk away, the Effiel tower is probably 45 minutes walk away - i ran there and back before breakfast one day. Having looked at web sites for many Paris appartments this one seemed good value to us and we would use it again.

Owners Response: Thank you for the review. Very impressed you ran to the Eiffel Tower! We are delighted you enjoyed the apartment and its location. It is très Parisienne and in a fabulous spot. Space: In terms of Paris center, 57m2 is above average and a good sized apartment. Most Paris apartments only have one bathroom. Shower works perfectly as we asked our cleaner to pour down a special product. Again merci beaucoup!

It’s fair to say we will always remember our far-too-short a sojourn in your lovely apartment in 2, Rue de Mulhouse...

Also we will never forget the wonderful Rue Montorgueil, which without exaggeration is a sublime secret of Arrondissement 2...

Thank you for allowing us the wonderfully life enhancing privilege of discovering and enjoying them both.....and by extrapolation, Paris herself... Nice apartment and great location :-)

Great little apartment. Very good location with a lot of good restaurants just down the street.

Recomended for two couples.

You have to like to climb stairs, but after all the good food and wine this is not a bad thing.

If you are going to Disneyland it is just a five minutes walk down the street to the Châtelet Métro Station. There RER A will take you straight to Disney in 40 minutes.

We will definitively come back :-)

Owners Response: Delighted you enjoyed Paris, the apartment and visiting Disney. Hope to see you back soon for some more croissants and good wine! Very best Sam

Perfect Paris Apartment!

familyabroad Idaho USA.
Date Submitted: May 11, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We just got back from Paris and loved every bit of our vacation, especially the wonderful apartment. The location was incredible and we were able to walk to almost everything. The transit system was just down the street for airport connections etc. We love being in the center of shopping and restaurants and being able to pick up fresh bread and pastries every morning for breakfast. We traveled with our 3 college students and loved the space in the apartment and the cooking and laundry facilities. Everything was even better than described. There are just over 100 steps up an amazing spiral staircase but we felt it helped burn of a few of the delicious pastries we ate every day. Sam was wonderful to work with in every aspect of the reservation process. My sons are talking about returning to Paris and to this apartment after they get married! Wonderful in every way!!

Owners Response: Thank you so much for the review. As always we are delighted you loved the apartment and Paris. What an inspirational family you are! I vividly remember our conversation about children and family time. I also believe in creating ‘memories’ and hope one day to go on that special ‘last’ family holiday before my children leave the nest! Good luck to you all and look forward to seeing you both and your sons back in Paris – this time with their new wives!

Fantastic little appartment

WOW -what a fantastic and wonderful little appartment. This appartment was just perfect for us (2adults and 2kids), we had everything there, the heaters were great since it was mid December. Perfectly clean, heaps of books/maps, love the little BLACK book that everyone signs in, everything you need in the kitchen, even a washing machine.Sam was our little Angel for us (my wife got very sick and Sam help us with Doctor Appointments etc.We can never THANK YOU enough for that). We got the REAL feeling of living in an appartment in the middle of Paris (no car needed). This appartment charm comes to life when you think that it was built in the 18th century just have to use your imagination. Just 2 mins walk away you have the trendy Montorgueil Rue area - love this place, PAULS bakery is great, my kids and wife loved the clothes/bag/food/shops just around the corner from the appartment. So very easy to walk around - my kids (two girls age 10 and 14) so just keen to get out and see everything, so walking was not a problem.Even walking to the metro was great cause we had two or three to choose from or the bus system. We used the "L Open Bus Tour" great for tourist. My youngest daugther still remembers the stair case and walking up and down (110 steps one way)not that we are complaining just the funny little things she remembers. Overall, this appartment (and Sam) were just wonderful, we highly recommend this appartment. Just the only problem was our stay there was not long enough - next time we shall stay for an month.

Wonderfully located apartment

The Auld Alliance Scotland.
Date Submitted: November 14, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
The great thing about this apartment is the location. It is so central that we could come back for a siesta and then sally forth again! The accommodation was fine for the four of us although it would have been cramped for 6. It was very clean and the beds are really comfortable. The welcome was good and the owner helpful. Only the cooking was a bit of a challenge - but then not every family likes to eat in as we do! The wireless broadband access was great. The whole of Paris is literally on your doorstep and the rue Montorgeuil is fantastic. We only used the metro twice since most things are within walking distance. We will be recommending it to our friends!

Owners Response: Delighted you enjoyed Paris and the apartment. Hope to see you back soon.

Kitchen:
The kitchen is beautifully designed not to deter from the charm of the apartment and building’s original 18th century features. The entire kitchen is new and constructed with panelled doors to recall the wall panelling so typically Parisian It is cleverly compact but way above average in terms of Parisian kitchen offerings. You have the luxury of a powerful dishwasher, washing wachine, a combined microwave/oven , good sized fridge, beautiful wooden work surface, two electric hobs, toaster, kettle for cups of tea and coffee and of course lots of neatly packed cupboards full of everything you need.

Fantastic apartment and owner help

university researcher Florence, Italy.
Date Submitted: September 19, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
The apartment is beautiful, full of character, original wood floors and beams, clean, with modern comforts, and perfectly located for seeing all the major sights of Paris. We walked everywhere- to the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe etc-and spent lots of evenings in the trendy Montorgueil area, only 2 mins walk away. The owner could not have been more helpful, full of essential information, tips for eating places, places of interest to visit off the beaten track, getting around with baby in tow. She knows Paris like the back of her hand and was always available if we needed anything. It was an extra bonus to know she was there in case we needed anything. Overall highly recommended and we will definitely be renting it again.

Excellent location-- lovely apartment

Lizzie68 Brighton, UK.
Date Submitted: August 12, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We stayed 3 days with our two children ages 4 and 6. The apartment was well equipped and suprisingly quiet. Even on a Saturday evening when we could hear people having guests over and music being played-- the laughter, clinking of glasses and jazz music streaming from the courtyard was not at all intrusive. It was a warm evening and we had the windows wide open. Even so, it was silent by 10PM. The other nights there was hardly a sound-- remarkably quiet. The nearby market is fantastic and we took the opportunity to buy bread, wine, cheese and meat at the local shop and indulge at home as opposed to eating out which gave a nice feel of Parisian life. But it is also so close to the Louvre and easy access to tour buses so we also played 'tourist' as well. My only concerns would be if my children were younger I would be worried about the open windows being that they are so high up. There are two bars that block the windows horizontally and potted plants as well. But some smaller children are more unpredictable. If you have a two year old who is 'into everything' and is difficult to keep track of, you might be worried. Also, I'm not sure I'd want to carry a toddler up the 6 flights of stairs. The childrens bedroom window was able to be closed with a higher portion able to let air in so was safe at night. Aside from that, I thought the apartment was delightful, clean, and charming. The ownder made it easily accessible and gave some great tips regarding the city. I highly recommend it as would my husband and kids!
