A Week Wasn't Long Enough Here .............

Pep1 Bristol.
Date Submitted: July 22, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The apartment and strawberry icecream coloured building was beautifully equipped/restored/renovated/looked after etc - we've just returned from a wonderful week here. The owners have thought of absolutely EVERYTHING you could possibly need including a basket of lemons they had picked that morning left in the hallway for everyone to use. There's even a herb bed at the back of the Palazzo which we found invaluable for cooking with both inside or if we had sardines on the barbeque. (Fry onions and garlic with bacon plus the coiled Italian sausage and mix in a tomato sauce. Chuck in several torn leaves of sage from outside and pour over pasta).
The shop opposite was perfect and the owner even took a head of lettuce out of her own fridge at home to give to us when she didn't have any left to sell. Their dog spent hours outside the shop staring at ants fiddling around the cracks in the pavement. The shop owner was always giving us little gifts - a handful of basil and sweets for the children.
Our teenage boys enjoyed snorkling; they were never bored despite the lack of TV/computers.
Highlight foodwise was Riccardo's (see info pack in apartments) in a hillside village. We went twice which wasn't nearly enough. It's worth moving to Sardinia just to go to Riccardo's. He produced hand-made biscuits at the end of the meal which were in different shapes - a hand, a mushroom, a bird, a fish with an apricot jam eye etc. The fresh barbequed fish was incredible as was the cured meat which was shaved off a pig's trotter on a clamp sitting on the sideboard next to some dripping honey-comb from his own bees.
Too hot for touring about and visiting archeolgical places of interest but there is plenty to do if you choose to find it.
I've just opened the honey jar we brought back (produced by the Palazzo's owners' bees) which I packed wrapped in 4 pairs of shorts and 5 t-shirts in the suitcase to ensure its safe transit. How wonderful to taste this honey and remember the heavenly week we enjoyed in Bosa Marina.

Quiet and unspoilt seaside getaway

The running pair Cardiff, south Wales.
Date Submitted: June 27, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We stayed in Il Tramonto. We expected a spacious, well equipped apartment and that was exactly what we got, plus a welcoming chilled bottle of wine. It was nicely presented and it was obvious that the owners had given careful thought to providing modern facilities, with an eye on tradition. We were disappointed that the TV had no aerial, but there were sufficient DVDs available to keep us amused after dark. There was just enough preparation space and plenty of crockery etc.The bathroom was well laid out with a wonderful shower, and the bed extremely comfortable. Recycling is compulsory and a bit of a pain, but instructions as to what to do are very clear. Our favourite space was the sun terrace, where we ate most of our meals when we were ‘at home’. Having sunshine from dawn to dusk was a great bonus, as well as the dual view towards the beach. We had fun watching the narrow guage train being uncoupled and switched around. There’s a mini market opposite which is expensive, but very handy. We did some hiking, but wished we had bought a walking guide in GB, as the trails are hard to find. The apartment is very close to the beautifully clean, safe sandy beach. The sand can get too hot to walk on and umbrellas are a must. There are several bars accessible from the beach, which sell ice-creams, beer and coffee. We walked into Bosa town regularly; it takes 30-40 minutes along the riverside. The castle is currently undergoing renovation and much of it isn’t accessible – still worth a visit though. We walked out to San Pietro church – a bit of a trek, but again, worth the effort. We didn’t meet any British people staying in the area and found that the locals didn’t speak much English. A phrasebook is an absolute must. However, they’re very friendly and seemed to appreciate us having a go with our pigeon Italian. If all else failed, we pointed and smiled and that often did the trick. We had a hire car for the duration and although we didn’t use it every day, it was invaluable. We had a day trip over to the Goruppu Gorge walk near Dorgali and visited Alghero and Sassari. Going out to the Grotto Neptuno by boat from Alghero was lovely. Bosa didn’t offer much in the way of entertainment, but it was unspoilt and provided the perfect location for a relaxing fortnight. Should we return to Sardinia, we would definitely go back to Bosa and the Pink Palazzo. The owners live in the area and are very friendly and helpful.

Owners Response: It is lovely when we get positive feedback from customers. Not only did they enjoy the apartment but the surrounding area as well. As these clients say, we tried to get all the modern conveniences in, yet keeping the basics of this lovely old palazzo in tact. With reference to the TV aerial, we decided not to put one on the roof top terrace and spoil the beautiful building. It would also only give Italian TV which is basically rubbish and obviously you would have to be fluent Italian speakers to start to appreciate it!

Great holiday!

Scotsteve Blackpool, Lancashire, UK.
Date Submitted: June 22, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
This was one of the best holiday apartments we've stayed in.
In a well-maintained, clean, beautiful building, it was very well equipped with everything you should need for a holiday, including beach umbrellas!
The 'red book' was full of useful information and helpful recommendations for restaurants, shops, etc, many of which we tried and were delighted with.
We enjoyed breakfast on the roof terrace with views of the hills in one direction and the beach in the other.
The beach was less than five minutes stroll and the sea was crystal clear, shallow to a good distance and perfect for swimming or for kids to play in.
The apartment was easy to find and there was no problem in us arriving at 11pm!
There were many good restaurants... Trattoria di Riccardo's in Magomadas is a must (the best tuna steak I've ever had) and we were given a really friendly welcome and good food at Angelino's pizzeria near the same village. We also enjoyed an evening listening to a live band just round the corner from the apartment at Il Manilla bar, where we were also made very welcome.
The ruined ancient city of Tharros, to the south, however was a bit disappointing.
Driving in Sardinia in June was a dream, hardly any cars on the roads once you leave the towns... although you rarely get out of third gear because there are so many bends and hills!
Can't recommend this place highly enough. We're planning a return journey already.

A week in June in Sardinia

Date Submitted: June 18, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Having visited Baia Sardinia a few years ago we were really looking forward to returning to the Island and although we were in a different area we were not dissappointed at all. The description of the apartment/ villa was exteremely accurate plus how close it was to a fantastic family friendly beach. The appartment had everything in it that we needed for a stay. It was spotless when we arrived and the bottle of wine in the fridge slipped down a treat on our fisrt night. We read the information booklet and took the advice of drinking the house wine and it was great value. The resort of Bosa Marina was just perfect for us as we like quiet, unspoilt resorts and Bosa was a short car journey or 20 minute walk away. We ate out every night and all our meals were great value for money and delicous. We would love to return again in June next year. The Ryan Air flight to Alghero was really convenient for us as well. All in all it was a great relaxing week.

Bosa Marina: Pink Palace

Brighton family Brighton, UK.
Date Submitted: June 03, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We stayed for a week in ground floor apartment 'La Sabbia' of this stunning 'Pink Palace' in Bosa Marina. The apartment was bright, clean, spacious and well equipped for our family of four. The beach is very close by and safe enough for our teenagers to head off on their own for a swim, with us following on a little later. A twenty minute stroll into Bosa town is well worth it. I would recommend this apartment for all age ranges and family set ups.

we had a great stay at Sardina, near the beach, nice restaurants in the neighbourhood, minimarket across the street, unfortunately the tourist office is still closed this time of year, so we could't hike as we would have liked....but the rest was very good. The boys liked the terrace on the roof, so they went up and down the stairs quite a lot.... we also stayed there a while on the lovely deckchairs, this is what holiday should be.....we did see the flamingos and vultures and loving it!!!!

What a wonderful Pink Palace it was!

The property was every thing we had hoped for. Exceptionally well presented. The rooms, bathrooms and Kitchen are large! The terrace and roof terrace perfect. Lovely window with shutters. A welcome bottle of wine to begin the holiday and some home made honey delicious! The local shop for home baked bread every morning just on the corner. A really short walk to the beautiful Bosa beach perfect!

We would recommend the Pink Palace for any visitors be it couples, family ...we took my 80years young mother and she had a wonderful time in the Palace felt at home safe and secure whilst we went out for a late night cap!

Beacause the Palace is very well equipped with a super washing machine in all apartments it really is possible to go with the 1 hold baggage restriction required for the Easy Jet or Ryan Air flights.

We have just returned and our deposit for damage/breakages has already been credited into our account. Thank you Gill & David for a beautiful Pink Palace we will return. Lesleyanne & Douglas
