Girona apartment

We had a super week and all the group really enjoyed staying in the apartment and loved Girona and Barcelona. We had great weather all week.
We couldn't really fault the apartment in its facilities, location and modern decor. The only thing we thought of was perhaps adding a shower curtain or shower door to the bathroom with the bath in it.
The next door neighbours Marc and Laura were lovely too and invited us to her birthday party, which we gladly went to one evening!
One afternoon, being keen cyclists, we cycled towards Salt via the bike tracks in the woods, which was a lovely shaded route.
All the group liked the area and certainly my boyfriend and I are keen to return to further explore around Girona by bike and see more of Barcelona.
Thank you again to Yuki for her help and information regarding the booking, apartment facilities and area.

Something for everyone

We’re just back from a short break in Girona, and what a diverse 3 days we had! We hired a car from the airport for £9 a day, which gave us the option to explore the surroundings. The Flat itself was very comfortable, very well put together and a lesson on how to use wallpaper! Loved the decor, the 2 bathrooms and the views. It Had everything we needed, and somethings we didn’t, like... lots of books! Yuki (the owner), as always, very helpful and attentive to our questions.
Spent the first day in Girona, with its ancient history, the narrow alleyways, the rain, the food market in the park, where you can stock up on your Serrano, Manchego and ermm... bananas! Next it was a trip to the coast. A 45 minutes drive trough some old spanish towns, to the fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell, where lunch at the Tragamar restaurant (on the beach) is highly recommended.. not cheap , but well worth it! And lastly, a day skiing at the top of the Pyrenees. In just 2 hours, from door to door, we were at La Molina, one of the biggest ski resorts in Spain, with still loads of snow despite being late March/early April.
All in all, we thought it was a great place to spend a few days, as there are so many options of things to do, places to go, people to see...

Girona Apartment

We had a great holiday, found the apartment easily, suprisingly TomTom was on his best behaviour, and it was useful to have parking included.
I'm sure we got super-fit walking into the centre of Girona, thank goodness there were no hills.
Loved the quirky decor, the two budgies on the dining room light nearly came home with us!
It was fantastic to find a good library, hope our book exchange was acceptable, as a librarian it always makes my holiday to browse someone else's collection.
Would recommend the Irish pub for fantastic goat's cheese salad,as it's a bit difficult for a veggie in meat/sausage loving Catalunya.
Loved Cadaques, and would recommend a visit, even though the road is a bit tortuous, also Pals is worth a trip, although a bit twee.
Altogether plenty to do in a week, with a nice base to return to in the evenings.

A Great Week

We had a wonderful holiday in Girona. The apartment was exactly as described, we found it nicely furnished, very well equiped and clean. The owner, Yuki, was extremely helpful and provided all the info we needed. The apartment is within easy walking distance of the train and bus stations (10 mins) and only a little further into the old town, which has to be one of the most picturesque in Spain. The centre has a great selection of restaurants, we particularly liked the Breton Creperie - try one of their salads as well as a galette! Excellent value. For easy excursions by train or bus, the Dali Theatre-Museum at Figueras is an absolute must, obviously Barcelona and we found St.Filieu de Guixols on the coast worth a visit for a beachy day (try menu del dia at Cafe Hot Dog - don't be put off by the name! Great traditional food and very reasonable.) We would definitely recommend the apartment and Girona. Thanks, Yuki!

Hot, Hot, Hot

We chose a hot week in Spain when it was cooler in England to stay in this lovely apartment in the centre of Girona. Thanks to Yuki for the first class service and the excellent facilities.
We got horribly lost on the first evening, arriving on a late flight with the temperature close to 40 and an unfamiliar hire car, we found ourselves driving deep into the hills by mistake, so arrived at well after midnight.
The parking space was very helpful since we had already decided to hire a car, but having stayed there for 5 days we realise that a car is only really needed for accessing the coast and if we went again we would probably only hire a car for days when we wanted to explore further afield. However, on arrival we made an easy mistake and parked in the wrong bay - our apologies (in English) to the owner of that space!
The collection of Spanish tourist information was very useful as was the interesting collection of books which contributed to making this very much a home from home.
During our stay, we spent a day in Barcelona covering both routes of the guided bus tour, drove along the coast from Lloret de Mar to Sant Feliu one day and from Sant Feliu to Pallafrugel on another. We also made good use of the municipal swimming pool in Girona and spent evenings walking in the old town – quite a lot to pack into a 5 day stay.
A particular word of thanks to Yuki for the trouble she took to ensure we got the keys in time. Hopefully you will rent us the apartment again if we do decide to return another year.

Awesome Rental Opportunity!

We rented this apartment for four weeks in April of 2008. It offered easy access to the old city, and its proximity to the train and bus station (and car rental offices) was great. We loved the roof top option - what an amazing view of the mountains and surrounding countryside! We grew to appreciate its location in this more working class section of the city, with easy access to grocery stores and shops. The nearby internet "cafe" was a big hit with my children. Off street parking was also a huge asset. The apartment is stocked with a great array of local touring books and maps, which we relied on. The kitchen was small but quite workable for our family of 4. Being able to wash our laundry at "home" was important. A few more comfortable seating options in the living room would have been great with our size crew, but the view out the sliding glass door from the couch was always a treat. I was thankful for the absence of a television, and appreciated the CD player/radio option. Having 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms was important for our family & although not spacious, they were more than adequate. Yuki was always helpful - answering all questions (and I had many!) and accommodating our needs - something that was very important, as this was our first internet rental experience. We loved the size of Girona - a very safe city with remarkable history. It is a beautiful area - with easy access to mountains and ocean and many charming VERY old villages throughout the countryside. We spent much time exploring this diverse region. We will long remember our stay and this apartment - a treasured family experience.

Great base for exploring Girona and surroundings

Chilemama   California, USA.
Date Submitted: May 20, 2008   Date of Stay: May 2008
We spent 4 nights at the apartment and it was a perfect base for exploring the area. There's a supermarket and bakery nearby to stock the efficient kitchen. It's a short walk to the bus/train station, and having a reserved indoor parking space was a huge benefit. The apartment is clean, light and roomy and well stocked with necessary linens, dishes, and travel information. The owner was great to work with and we will definitely contact her again when we return to Girona.

While not originally in our travel plans, we found Girona a charming town with excellent restaurants and plenty to see. We made a day trip to the coast and another to Barcelona - both easily doable from the apartment.

Everything spotlessly clean, well equipped. Great location , next to two supermarkets and about 10- 15 minutes to old town. We hired a car and was grateful for parking, but you can enjoy this apartment without a car. Very easy to use bus from airport. Area seemed very safe. Roof terrace a bonus. Good selection of novels and local guide books. Would recommend.
