FUSSY, FUN FOLK   Windsor.
Date Submitted: May 03, 2009   Date of Stay: February 2009
Our first vacation at "Heaven" was so enjoyable we decided after looking at other properties to go again.

The time at this unique home was nothing less than
amazing, sunsets, lap pool, amenities, cleanliness, and ambience of the home are not the typical rental.

If you plan to have fun and frolic while enjoying all there is
to do, Sponge Docks, restaurants, etc...like us you will
not be disappointed...plan another trip back in two years!

The owners were just the best hosts, so very helpful !

Something for Everyone

Bikers& Bridge Players   Leesport, Pennsylvania, USA.
Date Submitted: April 15, 2009   Date of Stay: March 2009
We (3 couples) spent a week here in early March and found the property and location great for our varied interests. The weather was absolutely perfect the whole time. Individually some of us would spend time in the hot tub or pool while others took walks in the neighboring park watching the abundant wildlife. Together we enjoyed Tarpon Springs and the many excellent Greek restaurants. We also spent a good bit of time just relaxing by the pool and watching the unobstructed sunsets. All of us especially enjoyed having music available both inside and outside.
The location is just excellent for biking which some of us did every day and some just a couple of days. Besides riding around the quiet neighborhood, the house is close to the famous 43 mile Pinellas Trail and also the 42 mile Suncoast Trail (both paved and both flat). Nothing back home to compare to the trails in Florida!!
There were a couple of minor equipment problems during our stay which the owner could not have anticipated nor easily prevented. Her response to getting them corrected quickly without inconveniencing us was above and beyond the call of duty. THANKS and thanks for a great week.

Owners Response: Always worth the preparation to host nice folk like "bikers & bridge players"

They were so active and enjoyed our fabulous bike trails which are close by,
also they made good use of the hot tub which is a great alternative to the lap pool
should the temperatures drop.

When I met them, they were taking photos of the dolpins and birds (none of the inside of the home) and very pleased of their property choice .

We apologised that the sun umbrella had been broken by the previous renters and not
bought to our attention, however it was replaced within a few days, they were most understanding.

Thanks for sharing your interesting international travels with us,you sure know how to enjoy life.....look forward to hosting you all again in 2010.
Cheers!
Dianne

Not always heaven

nice folks   California and Pennsylvania.
Date Submitted: April 09, 2009   Date of Stay: February 2009
We have rented homes internationally. Not sure who voted this place 5* star... probably the owner. The view here is 5-star, but the house is not. The weather was cool, 40-70 F., avg. around 65-70 during the day. The owner only heated the pool to 78 F. (this in not warm!) about 4 days out of 14. Owner gave us a discount for staying 2 weeks, not for an unheated pool. We live in Calif. and Penn., and know that outdoor pools can be heated more than this. The interior of the house is borderline shabby. The couches and comfy chairs are worn and saggy, stained, and were covered in sheets, slip covers, and towels. The "oriental" bedroom had mold on the window sills, ripped, stained "Asian screens" held together with Scotch tape, and filthy rugs. The mattress pads were ripped and very old. I have the pictures to prove this. The 3rd bedroom had pillows behind it to brace it against the wall. Sheets and bedspreads (other than the master bedroom) were very old, thin, & worn. Mattresses are old. Many of the bath towels seem to have come from a local country club, where the owner sent us to use their heated pool. The throw rugs and white bedroom carpets were filthy. We tried to clean them. The kitchenware was old, mismatched, worn, and tired. The sink pads were disgusting. The kitchen chairs had black tape on the bottom, which caused black scrapes on the floor. The 2nd bathroom had mold around the shower doors. It appears that the owner moved out of the property 20 years ago and didn't bother to update, just rent it as is. The closets still had some of the owner's clothes inside. The pillows were smelly. The "fishing gear" provided was old and rusty. This property is not on a beach, as indicated in the"amenities."
We never saw "beach chairs" to take to the beach. The owner advertises this as a "low allergen environment".... this is certainly not the case. There was no cell phone service at the house unless you walked a 1/4 mile down the road. The ad for this property says that it is "in Clearwater Beach"...until you read the very fine print and find out that it is 15 miles north of CB. Location of the property to Anclote Marina, parks, fishing, Tarpon Springs, was good. I have never written a negative review, but felt that the truth needed to be told. The owner needs to spend some $$$ to replace linens, rugs, kitchen ware, couches, bedspreads, and interior design to make this place 5 star, inside AND out. It has that potential.

Owners Response: The week of the booking our weather was at it's worst with 40 mile winds blowing in off the gulf..overnight the pool would loose 20 degrees. this is noted in the lease that we cannot control the weather. we do not charge for pool heating. we did everything we could to try please them during the cold weather. they told us they are accustomed to swim in 87 degree water in california ....No one is going to get that temperature in winter in Florida.
Travellers would know this and are told when they book the weather is a roll of dice in the winter.
As for the other remarks I can assure my clients this isn't so as per other guests reviews.

Go! Then go again!

The Picky Brits   Kent, UK.
Date Submitted: February 15, 2009   Date of Stay: December 2008
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in December 2008, so were looking for something special. We're very experienced in self-catering rentals and have stayed at dozens of unique places, from lighthouses through stately homes right up to medieval castles. This time we wanted a luxurious and idyllic retreat with the right mixture of isolation and proximity to amenities, never an easy task.

We found what we were looking for at Piece of Heaven. The owner, Dianne, could not have been more helpful, both in accommodating our needs at the outset, and making herself available throughout our stay.

The gulf setting is truly mesmerising. We live in a crowded urban setting so the panoramic views from the dock were wonderfully invigorating. Sunsets were of course glorious but we were surprised at how tame the cranes and pelicans were. Dolphins were also frequent visitors.

It doesn't get much better than relaxing in a hot tub overlooking the spectacular Gulf of Mexico!

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and many restaurants in easy reach. Dianne has great contacts with local business people and gave us great advice on evenings out. The only problem with sightseeing is you might find it hard to tear yourself away from the house. We did!

We will definitely go again, this time with a bigger group!

What a wonderful location and a beautiful house, the setting, views and wildlife were all magnificent and we all had a fantastic time.

The kids loved the hot tub and pool and were particularly fascinated by the boat jetty complete with fishing and a 'crab pot .
Dianne was on hand at all times and was always helpful and very friendly.
We waited each evening for our heron to arrive and were fascinated by all the wildlife,we caught a glimpse of a dolphin which was lovely.
It most definately is 'a piece of heaven' .thank you for a wonderful week of relaxation.

We spent two weeks in this stunning location with our children aged 18 & 15. They said it was the best holiday they had ever had!! This holiday is all about relaxing and taking in the breathtaking sunsets and magnificent wildlife. We needed the camera at hand to photograph the dolphins that swam just feet away and the many unusual birds that flew past.
Dianne couldn't have been more helpful and recommended many restaurants to us. A beautiful home, full of Dianne's unique treasures. Thank you so much for sharing your
fantastic home with us. We have so many wonderful memories of our holiday in, 'A Piece Of Heaven'.

Date Submitted: September 28, 2008   Date of Stay: August 2008
Wait until you look out through the picture window - the view is truly amazing! Father and son had a great time fishing off the dock together and Mummy and young daughter loved playing in the pool. (The lap pool is fantastic for a dedicated swimmer too!) The sunsets over the bay are breathtaking. The variety of wildlife was something else from blue herons to dolphins who did come to play by the dock. WOW! The owner, Diane, is very kind and helpful and even returned my necklace for me. A great spot to stay where all the family will be happy. Thanks, Diane, you have a magical place.

Worse vacation of my life

jacquelyng   Boston.
Date Submitted: June 06, 2008   Date of Stay: April 2008
Owner was difficult to deal with (i.e., attempting to keep very large security deposit because she claims there was an extra car in driveway). We offered to leave if she was uncomfortable with having us there. Owner declined and said she "just wanted to let us know we were not getting deposit back". At time of rental, listing was advertised as being "handicapped accessible" and that shower had a 2" lip to maneuver". Unfortunately for us, one in our party was in a wheelchair and there was no way he was able to use the facilities. I should have insisted on seeing pics of washroom(s). Also, this rental is in Holiday, FL (not Clearwater Beach). You'll have a good 45 minute drive if that is where you want to go. Not sure why this listing is entered in the "Clearwater Beach" section, and, not - "Holiday, Fl" section. This is my 12th rental using homeaway/cyberrentals -- and, is the only negative experience we have had, so I have not given up on website, just this particular rental, as I am now pursuing further action to get my substantial deposit returned. Be very careful......
Owners Response: Unfortunately we had a very difficult time with this renter who violated the terms of the lease , which now places us in a very unpleasant situation.
The renter e mailed to say how pleased she was as her family lived in the neighbouring areas which would be most convenient for her to visit with them.

The problem arose the next day when one of my neighbours called to ask did I know there were 7 cars at the home and the renters were having a party...I phoned my immediate neighbour who confirmed and told me he was kept awake the previous evening from all their noise.
After hearing this I phoned ,then went to the home. The renter's explanation was that she had planned a party.

The lease specifically states the amount of guests staying or visiting, there were 6 people listed .

They asked if I would met them there the morning of their departure at 9.00 am and I agreed, when I arrived they were gone, so too was a most valuable hand painted Urn, there had been smoking in the home, it was left in a
very dirty state, the rugs were stained from wine and pizza.

Our family of 5 stayed at piece of heaven recently - what a beautiful view - sunsets, dolphins and more fish than you can imagine!!! Our kids had the time of their lives in the lap pool and exploring the gulf!! Seeing the dolphins swim by was really a dream come true. The property is well situated-close to amenities (groceries, restaurants) and is in a secluded neighbourhood. Everything is clean, tidy and well maintained. We can't wait to go again!!!!! thanks for the memories of a lifetime. GS and kids

Viewed the pictures, read the reviews, made the booking.

All reviews and details on the website are spot on, what more can I say that has not already been said. They are all accurate.

My family (3 Children included) stayed for a week in April, we did a week in Disney and then this great week in the Piece of Heaven to recharge the batteries. I would recomend to anybody wanting to have a Florida experience to do the same..

You can be as active or inactive as you want to be and the house is in a great location to explore the surrounding Gulf Coast area. Pool, Jacuzzi, Poolside / Outdoor area are all first class. Owners very helpful and available to assist as you require.

My wife and I have been to “Piece of Heaven” on more than one occasion. From your first visit to your last you will find cleanliness and luxury. You are as close to the crowds as you want to be yet as far away from them as you want. The sunsets are picture perfect while you enjoy the pool area for a late dinner or a nightcap. If it’s Greek food you’re after your five minuets from the best Greek food you will find outside of Greece at the Sponge Docks. Also your hosts Bruce and Dee are two of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Amenities fully in line with description, house ideally placed frontline to sea. Nice jacuzzi bath at sunshine.
Very friendly welcome from the owner, who gave good suggestion on restaurants, golf courses, shopping places.
A very quiet area, houses beautifully arranged, american fashion.
Central position for golfing, top class courses at short distance. A special mention for the Eagles Golf Course, outstanding. For adventure, i would recommend the Hillsborough river park, where you can rent a canoe for a trip in wild life, a great experience.
A highly pleasant stay, for family holidays.

My husband and I holiday in Florida a couple of times a year but this was the first time we have booked a house . The booking process was simple, the owners always returned my emails promptly and supplied me with all the information we needed.
The discription of the house was very accurate and we had every amenity at the property that we could want. The house, pool, jacuzzi and outside areas were very clean and we were provided with plenty of fluffy towels for the pool and jacuzzi.
We spent many an hour on the dock fishing and watching the birds we're not really sure what fish we caught but had great fun doing it! We took some fishing rods with us but there was no need to as these were also provided.
We visited the local town of Tarpon and ate at some of the nearby restaurants. We also drove to Clearwater Beach and St Petersburgh. We visited a Flea Market which was ten times the size of any at home! We visited a couple of the nearby nature parks which were perfect for picnics and just soaking up the sun.
All in all it was as close to a perfect week as you could wish for and I would defineately recommend it.

tropical haven in paradise

Date Submitted: February 15, 2008   Date of Stay: January 2008
Once a year we all sit down and decide where to spend our
vacation, we decided on this incredible home and must say
it is by far the best we've stayed at in all respects!

The magnificent orange/blue sunsets, heated lap pool, sun, sun and more sun. private dock, tiki bar, jacuzzi, comfortable beds, lots of beach towells, nothing to want for it was all here and the piano at night with a cocktail,
just sitting around playing and singing was a real treat!

The home is located in a very private area, saw only boats,
dolphins that swam by the dock, exotic birds, and no neighbours to peek. The Tourist attraction of the Sponge Docks just 5 mins away by car was lots of fun and
an education, watching sponge diving exhibitions and shark feeding at the Aquarium, eating delcious cuisine at
the waterside restaurants that line the docks, souvenier
and antique shops that were amazing.Soap /wine factories.
casual clothing, unusual shoes, sandals filled the shops.

We hired a boat and went to the local Island, where we snorkelled over the reefs and walked the lovely white sand collecting shells and sand dollars, we even caught some Red fish and took it back to the bbq.

You have to experience this tropical paradise for yourself
We were so impressed wih the owners who made our stay
so welcoming, and we've booked fo 2009 to do it all again!

OUR VACATION IN HEAVEN !!!!

Date Submitted: February 01, 2008   Date of Stay: January 2008
We arrived at our destination in 85 degree Florida Sunshine, the spectacular sunset was just setting as we
arrived at this fabulous property.

Once inside we immediately felt at home, tasteful decorating, lovely furnishings , and a glow of pride filled the house, and thus began our incredible vacation.
We jumped into the awesome heated lap pool and then into the jacuzzi to relax after such a long airplane ride.
The beds were so comfortable we slept like logs! Next day
We layed in the chaise lounges and basked in the glorious
sunshine, the private dock was wonderful to watch the kids
catch fish and see the crabs, stingrays & dolphins swim by. We were amazed at the blue waters and the privacy
of the home, the boats, exotic birds were our company.

We toured the local Sponge Docks which are famous for
sponges, and saw sponge diving and shark feeding at the
aquarium, very exciting!! the waterside cafes, pastry shops were full of tourists from all over the world.. We took the trolley downtown to the antique shops and bought some old relics and paintings from the "old days"
to take home....we hired a pontoon boat and went to the
Anclote Island just five mins from the house, we fossicked
for shells and sand dollars, had a picnic on the white sandy beach and swam in the aqua blue waters, the kids
snorkelled over the reefs and saw amazing species of sealife. We also went to Busch Gardens and Adventure Island we had so much fun....everything is relatively close
to the home, grocery, movie theatre and shopping Malls.
After a few days of sightseing we were drawn like magnets
back to the home to spend the rest of our vacation just
relaxing and being amazed at how peaceful it was just to
see the blue skies , palm trees blowing in the soft breeze
and drifted of to sleep many times feeling the warm sun
on our backs......we didn't want to leave....the time was on
hold, but soon we had to depart.....we'll be back for sure
it was worth the long trip to spend a week in Paradise!
Thanks to the owners for providing this charming retreat!
See you later in 2008 ! Heartly recommended to the traveller who wants luxury, cleanliness and comfy beds!

We were recommended by our friends who had stayed at
A PIECE OF HEAVEN and never stopped raving about it!
We booked early and then started planning for our yearly vacation and was not disappointed when we arrived!

This stunning home with it's 360 degree views of the Gulf
of Mexico is a traveller's delight, by far the most stylishly
furnished and decorated than any other we stayed in and
for our $ got far more than we paid.

The 80ft lap pool with its crystal blue heated water was
just divine and so relaxing and refreshing, also we were
able to spend time in the waterfall jacuzzi which is seperate from the pool and often had a cold drink while
watching the spectacular sunsets! The Tiki bar was another great spot to sit and chat. The kids were in awe
as the Dolphins swam by the private dock. The owners supplied fishing poles so that was fun, we tried our luck and caught a few nice size redfish which went straight on
the bbq. Yummy ! Exotic birds flew in to visit , Pelicans, Cranes , Blue Herons , just to name a few.
The kids were so excited with all the wildlife.
All of the amenities in the home were very modern and
they had everything, the 60inch High Definition TV was
just wonderful for Movies and Sports not to mention the
theatre chairs where we'd often doze off after a busy day of
doing nothing, but soaking up the rays, reading, looking
at the boats, it is very private, we didn't see anybody,
however it is close to grocery shops, etc.
The Sponge Docks is a great Tourist town located 10 mins
by car from the home, and it is fascinating !! We saw sponge diving and shark feeding at the Aquarium, ate delicious food at the waterside cafes, browsed the gift and
souvenier shops, we couldn't resist the homemade greek
pastries and ice cream shops, we also loved buying gyros
and eating them as we strolled along the docks.
Everything is on time delay, no rushing, no clocks, just
Eutopia, warm sunshine and Tourists from all over the world, you could hear all the different accents ,it was fun!
We took the kids to Busch Gardens just 45 mins away
which we all had a blast!! Sorry that we had to leave,
but here's the best part...we've already booked for 2008!

Thanks again to the nice owners who were so helpful!

HEAVEN ON EARTH !!!

This "Unbelievable" home was the best we have ever stayed in, and we have travelled far around the World.
My wife gets all the Kudos on this booking!

The sunsets are magnificent, the Gulf of Mexico is right
at the back door, the lap pool is so crystal blue we jumped
in almost immediately on arrival. We also enjoyed the
jacuzzi after free games of tennis at the local park and the
many walks we took along the trails. We saw many dolphins swim past our private dock where we spent
many days catching redfish and trout. The BBQ was just
by the dock so very convenient to cook our catch.

Nestled in a secluded area, it is very private and quiet,
not too far from shops, waterside restaurants and lots of sight seeing at the fabulous Sponge Docks. Gyros a must!
Unique souvenier gift shops, sponge diving and shark feeding exhibitions at the Aquarium, it is a buzz of activity
as the Fishing boats pull into the wharfs to uinload their
catch. The kids were in awe !

The home is very tastefully furnished with a mixture of
African, Oriental and Tropical decor and is immaculately
clean. Big comfortable beds and lots of fluffy towells.
The 60" TV with the luxurious theatre chairs were a
favourite relaxing spot in the evenings, so too the Tiki Bar.
The Owner was most helpful to us with recommendations.
After leaving snow and spending 7days in 83deg sunshine we were so tanned and relaxed and wanted very much to
extend our stay, we wern't suprised that it was already booked by another astute lucky visitor. But...............
We've already booked for 2008, we didn't want to miss out!

We could not believe the view when we opened the front
door...the sunset was amazing ! Not to mention how
inviting the glimmering blue water of the 80ft heated lap pool was better than the photos....we were thrilled!
After our long journey, we opted for the 7 seater jacuzzi
with waterfall while we downed a few cold ones!!! and relaxed.taking in the magnificent views of sea and sky!
You can't get any closer to the water....the Gulf of Mexico
laps right up to the seawall by the pool, and the private
dock was perfect for fishing and watching the dolphins
swim by as all the fish were jumping out of the water to try
escape . The exotic birds roamed the yard , so peaceful!
The interior of the home is amazing with very contemporary
furniture and many themes, very tropical, we dozed off
many times in the theatre chairs while watching the
60 inch High Def TV......Folks, this home is THE REAL DEAL......we won't spend out money on anything else
our holiday time is special and we got far more than we
paid for .Very quiet, we saw no one. Clost to supermarket. The Owners were on hand to answer any questions and suggestions of attractions.
were fun and helpful. Sponge Docks unique, waterfront restaurants served fresh seafood staright off the boats.
We've already booked for 2008! Can't Wait !!!!!!!!!!
