On the positive side, the apartment is in a good location: easy access from and to the airport; close to the beach, supermarket and much of the city centre. The welcoming bottle of champagne was appreciated, as was the provision of some beach equipment and towels and the provision of two sets of bathroom towels for each person. On departure, the owner’s representative arrived punctually to collect the keys.

<br/>However, the lift was prone to malfunctioning (there was notice highlighting this), making the stairs the only reliable method of going to and from the apartment. The apartment was cheaply furnished with a broken shutter to the kitchen window, a loose electrical socket in main room and exposed electrical wiring in the ceiling for two light fittings. There was no kettle, so water had to be boiled in saucepans. One hotplate light did not work, making it difficult to know when hotplate was in use. There was a problems gaining initial access to the apartment (the owner’s representative in Nice could not contacted on the phone number provided, necessitating a phone call to the owner’s UK phone and waiting for someone else to arrive with the keys so that we could gain access to the apartment).
