As soon as we chose villa Lavanta for our holiday villa, things were great, from keeping in touch with the owner about availability, payment etc. The owner is efficient and well organised. A copy of the villa handbook, discount cards and keys were sent to us before we set off for Turkey, it was brilliant that the owner had some great discount deals for a few restaurants, beach clubs and more. Our favourite was the taxi company that he had a discount deal with, we found the walk into town a wee bit far for our children 4yrs and 6yrs, when we headed out in the evening for a nice meal we would ring the taxi and they would arrive at the villa in 5 mins, so polite and friendly and also to our delight very cheap! When we arrived at the villa and looked around we thought 'wow', this place is lovely! While in Kalkan we had a hired car which abled us to see 2 beautiful beaches Patara & Kaputus. Kaputus is like a hidden cove of the most lovely turquoise green sea i have seen, well worth a visit, Patara is great for the children! Lovely sand and shallow waters. The facilities in the villa were Fabulous, everything thought of. Our children loved the pool, never could get them out! The pool was spotless with nice sunbeds and umbrellas. The villa was very clean and very well maintained. We had 2 favourite restaurants, 'Alternatif ' and the one with the magician guys, entertained us most of the night! Great Fun! All the restaurants are pretty good and look lovely in the evening, candlelit all along the cobbled streets.Waiters were very friendly and polite. The views from the villa were some of the best i have seen (breathtaking!) especially from the master bedroom balcony. We loved sitting on the kitchen balcony in the mornings and enjoying breakfast as a family, we would also have a nice lunch here with crusty bread, cheeses and salad. Our children loved the huge bean bags that you will find dotted around the pool and balconies, infact we all enjoyed a wee chill now and then on the bean bags. The view from the top floor is beautiful to relax and watch the sun set before getting ready to head out. We just wish we had stayed longer than a week in villa lavanta so we could have more time to enjoy the many lovely seating areas and balconies. We would definitely recommend this villa and kalkan to anyone and everyone that wish to visit Turkey. Its like the turkish riveria with a beautiful place to stay!

What a fabulous place to stay and relax. The villa is absolutely beautiful and caters for all needs - The roof terrace is so peaceful with wonderful views and sights - the owner of the villa helped organise the holiday and made booking so easy. The villa is situated in a quiet spot about 15 minutes walk away from the main town. The neighbours are so friendly helpful and make you feel so welcome, i absolutely loved Nina & Peter. All the restaurants in Kalkan were adilic with so much choice, the only one we were totally disappointed with was the Chinese - its was dreadful. The food was very very salty, luke warm and very small portions - our favouriate of all was Cafe Vita where they serve the best chips in the world!!! and Mustafa makes you feel so welcome. There were 8 of us staying in the villa and there was plenty of room for everyone. There is plenty to do and see in Kalkan. I would definetly recommend it to friends and family. Very modern, with all ammenities and a lush pool to chill out it in. We all feel well rested and re-charged after a wonderful week of sunshine in paradice. Many thanks to Simon xx

We found Villa Lavanta on ebay when wondering where to go for our holidays and it was the best discovery ever!! It is a gorgeous three bedroomed , spacious luxury villa. There are spectacular sea views. I loved the location, it is on a quiet palm tree lined road, with little traffic and no barking dogs. (unless they should be barking to warn of strangers) We explored other villas in and around Kalkan and were convinced that we had the best location to suit our needs. Yes, it is a fair treck into town but we hired a car very cheaply in Kalkan and it gave us the flexibility we needed to explore the mountains and Turkish villages.
The villa was spotlessly clean with everything one could possibly want except a dishwasher. OH promised he would do that but in reality he didn't! However it didn't really matter as the kitchen was so pleasent and one felt so relaxed it was a pleasure.
The villa had a huge verandas with eating area being one of my favourite spots to relax and enjoy the breeze. My OH's favourite spot was the shaded area and otterman by the pool.
Our 20 year old and his friend from uni used the self contained flat on the ground floor. This worked very well and they couldn't believe their luck at living in such luxury!
The owner of the villa Simon was incredibly efficient and helpful as was the agent Nina next door.
All in all we loved villa Lavanta and after hearing stories of other people renting nearer to town with problems of traffic noise, barking dogs and loud music we felt really blessed.

Owners Response: Really pleased to hear that not only your OH (other half) and yourself enjoyed the villa but also the kids of UNI age also had a great time too.
We made several inprovements for the 2009 season so there are now several different interia and exteria eating/drinking/relaxing areas around the villa. Sounds like you found your favorite ones.

(as we are 2 germans please excuse our English.)
The villa was exactly what we expected after seeing the fotos: fantastic. The furniture is beautiful and modern, the sea view is great. Also the surrounding is very nice: trees in the street, a lot of birds singing in the morning. The center of Kalkan is not to far away, we often walked there by foot. But if you are too tired to walk, you can take a taxi, it is not expensive.
As the weather was really hot and the villa and the swimming pool were so nice, we didn´t move very much, although there are many interesting places to visit near Kalkan. We visited the Patara beach, the Xanthos Ruins and Kas, we also walked a bit on the lykian way.
But most of the time we stayed near the pool and read a lot of novels and enjoyed ourselves.

About 15% of our bookings are from Germans and they always seem to have a great time just the same as our English guests.
I won't attempt demonstrate here but i can assure you that your English is much better than my German!
Hope to see you both next year.

2 adults and 2 sons aged 19 and 16 had a great holiday at Villa Lavanta. The villa is spacious and well equipped. It is a short walk down, and a short but harder, walk up from the sea, but you can drop into the pool to cool down when you return. Kalkan, and attached Kalamera, where the villa is, is friendly with great restaurants. We preferred to be in a quiter part of Kalkan, although the town itself was not roudy. Simon is very efficient and helpful with some good suggestions. The nearest pay beach is worth it and a trip on a boat from Kalkan is a must. You'll have a great time in Kalkan and at the great Villa Lavanta

Owners Response: Glad all went to plan. Reading between the lines it sounds like you made good use of the Villa Lavanta handbook which details many pages of local places/things to do & see plus day trip attractions, not to mention all the exclusive concession deals I have in place with local operators of restaurants, beach clubs, hotels and taxi hire etc

Stayed at Villa Lavanta with my teenage son/ daughters for two weeks in July and found it to be the best accommodation we'd ever stayed in. While there are always nagging worries about organising travel and accommodation independently Simon couldnt have been more helpful and all pre and post holiday communications / airport transfers etc went without a hitch. In addition Nina and Peter ( next door neighbours who help maintain the property ) were extremely friendly and helpful without intruding in any way. The villa is abolutely superb - clean, modern, spacious, well equipped with fabulous views of the sea/ bay and a quiet location - and the entrely self contained apartment at pool level was an absolute godsend in that it allowed the kids to achieve some level of independence from their parents and vice versa The weather was so hot that, apart from a couple of trips to the magnificent Patara Beach, most days were spent at the Beach Club located 2 mins from the apartment ( steeply downhill but free return taxis are provided by by the management ) or around the pool. In the evening we would generally walk 20 mins into Kalkan which is hilly but very pretty and has a host of excellent restaurants with v.friendly staff - the Alternatif, Kaya and Kaptan particularly recommended. However there is also a well stocked supermarket and the fantastic and good value Cafe Vita ( Trip Advisor no 1 restaurant ) within 5 mins walking distance of the villa. I would recommend this villla/ Kalkan without hesitation

We would highly recommend this lovely villa to anyone looking for a quality property in Kalkan.
Very well equipped with stunning views over Kalamar Bay, Villa Lavanta is ideal for couples or families. Kalkan centre is a 25 minute walk away which we managed easily during our 1st week but with temperatures rising well into the 30s , we did struggle a bit the 2nd week.
Simon has negotiated discounts with several restaurants and a local taxi driver. We did try a few of these restaurants and found them to be superb.
From the vast collection of DVDs to board games and even a playstation Simon has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Excellent organisation re airport transfers which went without a hitch.
All in all a really great holiday

If you want a beautiful place to stay in Kalkan look no further than Villa Lavanta, it was one of the best holiday villas we've rented. It provided everything we needed and more to make our stay most comfortable and enjoyable. The contemporary interior of the villa was to a high standard and the views from the master bedroom when you awake in the morning were to die for, as was the rooftop terrace - the perfect place to enjoy a sundowner! Kalkan is a beautiful old town with lots of lovely restaurants and cobbled streets. The people are all so friendly and you don't feel threatened anywhere you go. The only fault is you get hounded by the waiters to use their restaurants - although to be fair this may have been because it was early in the season. The weather was glorious with temps between 24-27 degrees everyday. There's lots of interesting places to visit and the nearby Kaputas beach and gorge is absolutely beautiful. Patara's lovely long sandy beach and ruins just a few miles away is well worth a visit - fascinating! We took a drive into the hills at sunset, it was stunning!
The service we received from Simon was excellent. It was our first time to Turkey and we hadn't realised what we were missing all these years. We would certainly recommend Villa Lavanta to anyone looking for something special in a beautiful location with stunning views of the sea and will be back ourselves soon!
Would suit both families and couples alike. Car essential.

Over the years we have rented many villas but Lavanta is the most comfortable we have ever experienced. Everything worked well and more than lived up to our expectations from the photos on the website. The views were stunning to wake up to in the morning whilst the sunsets from the roof top were also beautiful. The transfers to/from Antalya were excellent and the drive through the mountains was a pleasurable excursion in itself. The weather in early November was still very warm and although some establishments had closed for the winter, as we had been advised would be the case, there were still quite a few restaurants open. In addition the two supermarkets in town provided all we needed when we wanted to self-cater. In fact we prefer the relative calm of the slightly off-season. We also found the walk into town just right for a little exercise and the fact that the supermarket would give customers a lift back home with their heavy shopping is something we would appreciate here in the UK.
We also found the local agent was very approachable, not that we had any problems, but a close watchful eye clearly keeps standards high in terms of maintenance and cleaning.
Our thanks to Simon for letting us share his most comfortable holiday home and for arranging the transfers.

What an excellant choice we made for our holiday. Kalkan such a pretty place & Villa Lavanta superb. Location of villan so peacefull. The villa is situated a 15 minute walk from Halkan town, there are a few hills to encounter on your walk byt we did not mind them. our children and their partners ( 23 - 25 ) would have a taxi back to the villa and these were quite cheap. Kalkan is very hilly but it is one of the prettiest places we have been to and the peoples are so friendly & polite. Weate our every night in the many restaurents & would recommend the Alternatiff ( steak superb ) & the Trio. Would also recommenmd the Kaye where you are also entertained by a Majician.
Back to the villa the views from the roof terrace Amazing th watch the sunset in the evening with a glass of wine HEAVEN. The villa is everything you could wish for.tastefully furnished, plenty of space. On arrival fresh bread butter and milk. Everything went to plan the organisation by Simon is so efficient. Will recommend this villa and hope to return.

Villa Lavanta proved to be an excellent choice for our stay in Turkey, and I would happily recommend it to friends, especially those looking for somewhere quiet to stay and chill out for a week.
The Villa is a stunning 4 storey house, with a self-contained Apartment on the bottom floor (we joked we should have taken the mother in law and locked her in there!). The living floor and the sleeping floor's are both lovely and roomy, with nice decor and great views. But the view from the seating area on the roof is magical!
We loved sitting out each evening on the various balconies with a glass of booze or a meal, and the rest of the time was sat by the pool!
Town is a 10 minuite walk away, although it can be tiring in the heat. The local supermarket is well stocked, but a bit pricey (especially for alcohol!). Check out the local butchers and greengrocers if you intend cooking yourself though.
The only minor problem were found was that the satellite TV didn't show any UK channels.
The Villa owners have the organisation down to a tee, and everything went very smoothly in booking, getting the keys etc.
All in all I can happily recommend this place, although Kalkan is a pretty quiet location, so I would advise those looking for a 'happening' place to go somehwere else.

went to villa lavanta with my own family of 2 adults and 2 children along with my sister and her family - perfect for separate families to share! accomodation was 1st class - quite luxurious in fact. kids loved the pool and were delighted with the dvd player to watch during their afternoon nap! The roof top terrace at the villa was superb for evening drinks - lovely breeze. Kalkan town was gorgeous - quaint little cobbled streets with lovely shops, bars and roof top restaurants and the people were so friendly - especially towards the kids. Bit of a hilly walk into the main town but it was worth it - taxi home was cheap. Travel arrangements for transfers to and from the airport arranged by Simon were excellent - absolutely no problems. Would highly recommend the resort and especially the villa - we would all go back in a minute. Hope to book up again for next year

Nice Villa - beware your deposit |

I stayed here with friends recently and liked the villa and the area.
We had to leave the aircon on downstairs as there was a smell coming from the drains. The owner took money off our deposit because he felt we were using the aircon too much. He also took a paltry amount off our deposit for postage.
The villa is a long walk from town unless you go through an Olive grove which cannot be navigated at night. This walk is approx 15-20 mins which is considerable in the heat so car/scooter advisable.
There was also no grid for the barbecue and the cushions upstairs were rather dirty.
Lovely rocky seaside area within walking distance, try to avoid during hot summer months.

Owners Response: Under the terms of the booking contract I offer a fair usage policy where you are free to use as much air con as you wish subject to you being there whilst it is switched on.
In your circumstances I had to make a £35 surcharge for excessive air conditioning use because you switched the air con units on when you arrived and they remained on 24 hours a day for your entire holiday period and were not switched off when you vacated the villa.
A minimal charge was made to cover the cost of your unpaid postage for the return of the villa keys and the fine that was imposed upon me by Royal Mail.
The walk into town is 20 minutes and I would not recommend trying to navigate through an unlit olive grove in darkness. However, I would recommend using the road because it is a direct route and has street lights.
Kalkan is a stunning location with many beach clubs to choose from, with the ever popular Kalamar Beach Club being just 5 minutes walk away. I would highly recommend a holiday to Kalkan especially in the summer.

Villa Lavanta is a stunning villa with views that are take your breath away. The villa itself is perfect, for either a single family or in my case for three generations; the self contained pool level flat is ideal for a secound couple or an elderly relative as there are few stairs. Everything you need for that perfect holiday is provided, all you need to bring is yourself, and plenty of suntan lotion. There are local resterants, however, if you wish to go into the town centre you may need to use a taxi - they are quite cheep.
The only area I would warn other visitors is the hire of cars in Turkey, they do not cover tyres or glass - if you get a flat tyre they charge for a new tyre - be carefull. If you are thinking of renting the Villa Lavanta do it quickly before someone else beats you to it.

We had a fantastic week at Villa Laventa, the views were stunning, the villa just as beautiful as in the photos and Simon fantastically organised!!
Our party consisted of my sister and I, my three children aged from 11-19 and one extra teen. There was plenty to interest everyone and we very much hope to go back when it is a little cooler to see more of the amazing surroundings and history very soon.
We found the locals to be genuinely friendly and it was a real bonus to be able to dip in and out of the town as and when we pleased. The villa is just close enough to the town to be able to walk but far enough away to feel the peace of the area.
Everything went totally according to plan, especially the sun :o) and the kids can't wait to go back!!

Owners Response: You summed up one of the main reasons why I bought the villa - Close enough to walk to town but far enough away to be peaceful although I would also add that it just feels that little bit more exclusive being that little further from the town centre. The taxis are cheap enough if you are swaying a bit on the way back home!
October is a good time to explore as the temperature should be around 75 and this makes the Lycia Walk do able (although I wouldn't recommend the full 500 miles) you should also get nice weather in Nov/Dec and the villa is really cheap to rent too...
I'm so pleased you you found both Kalkan and Villa Lavanta an enjoyable experience - See you soon.........

it was brilliant, the villa itself was everything you could ask for, fully equipped to a very high standard with beautiful views from the roof terrace and a lovely swimming pool to cool off after enjoying a pleasant and restful day soaking up the sun. It is in a quiet area, within easy reach of the village of Kalkan with an abundance of restaurants to suit all tastes. We would highly recommend it as perfect setting for a relaxing holiday.

My daughter and I have just returned from staying at Villa Lavanta. The villa is unique and beautifully furnished. It has amazing views looking over Kalamar Bay and is about 20-25 min walk into Kalkan Town. The villa has everything you would need and is very relaxing, in fact I was so relaxed I forgot which day of the week it was..and nearly missed the flight.
The people of Kalkan are very friendly, as a single mum with her daughter, I never felt threatened as you can do sometimes abroad.
Simon was extremely helpful when booking his villa and also very informative about Kalkan. A trip to Saklikent Gorge is a must...it is a magnificent gorge where a torrent of water from the Xanhos river rushes in, walk up in the canyon and see the beautiful scenery.
There are many restaurants all superb quality and very friendly. I would recomment the Arena Restaurant for good food and reasonable prices. Salt & Pepper Restaurant was also very good.
For car rental, I would recommend Grace Rentals it is on the road into Kalkan and ask for Odette or Ferhat, very reasonable prices and friendly people.
Nothing is too much trouble for the people of Kalkan and I have visited many places in Turkey, but this is a unique beautiful place. Simon's villa just made the whole stay fantastic.

We stayed at Villa Lavanta at the beginning of May with our 7 month old son. The villa itself is very stylish with beautiful views across Kalamar Bay. It is perfect for a family holiday, with DVD's and games for evenings in. The bean bags around the pool are a really nice touch and kept the baby safe and entertained! The Turkish people are so friendly - our son had quite a fan club by the time we left. The walk into the old town takes approx 25 mins and is quite steep in places. We plan to return to Kalamar and would love to rent Villa Lavanta again next year.

We stayed at Villa Lavanta, whilst our own villa was being built. It was great. On arrival we whizzed around the whole place as you do, and were amazed by the fabulous roof terrace with spectacular views across the bay. The master bedroom is just lovely, very spacious and contemporary with loads of cupboard space (with loads of hangers inside-very important!) and a big balcony, again with stunning views. The kitchen was well kitted out (apart from a lack of Yorkshire Pudding tins - everyone needs those on a holiday in Turkey! Don't you just hate restauranteurs!)) and the inside and outside eating areas were very convenient and made self catering a friendly sort of thing to do.(Not always the case!). We were able to eat breakfast and lunch outside even though it was November, the weather was great every day.
Kalkan restaurants were fabulous and amazingly there were lots of them open in the Winter season. Also in Kas and Fethiye. It is a great time of year to visit.
We stayed in a lot of villas last year and this one was by far the best. Thanks Simon for all your help with all sorts of things,we wish you continued success with the villa, no wonder it is always so booked up. If we hadn't bought our own villa we would be back here every year with our monstrous children (average age 25! They love Kalkan)

Owners Response: Thanks so much for the lovely review June. It gives me an enormous sense of well being knowing that a fellow villa owner enjoyed their stay at Villa Lavanta so much! After spending many a sleepless night worrying that the lovely Villa Haziran has a greater baking capacity I have taken the decision to dispatch a large quantity of said tins!
Many thanks – Much appreciated!

This was our third visit to the area and we were delighted to find Villa Levante lived up to our expectations. Simon manages the property really well from providing information and making arrangements to keeping the villa well mantained. The villa was lovely and it was a pleasure to deal with Simon who is so efficient.
This is a lovely spot and one that I would prefer not too many people know about!

Modern, tasteful, comfortable furniture, air conditioning and the teenagers loved the pool, iPod docking and DVD selection. Kalkan is a lovely small town too. All helped the family relax - Essential R&R for me. A personal thank you for all that you did for us - flight details, airport shuttle, complimentary food basket and friendly welcome. The whole experience is one that the family would like to repeat!

We had the most fantastic and relaxing holiday. It was our first visit to Kalamar Bay and we would happily return. The villa was superb, as were the views, the pool and the weather! All the local restaurants in Kalkan were very good and worth revisiting and using a hire car meant we could visit the beautiful beach at Patara and spend time in Kas.We couldn't have asked for more.
