I live in Cardiff (Wales) and mum lives in Bilbao (Basque country). I thought it would be nice to meet up somewhere warm and relaxing. The weather in both Cardiff and Bilbao are similar ie.cold. So we came here. Good price and had all we needed. Nice to spend time on the beach. Steep hill which was hard for mum on the way up but she managed it alright. Quiet and nice. Market on Thursday was good. Easy access into Alicante on the bus. Weather was good all week, brill!! Thank you

Nice and Tidy

Nice and tidy when we got here. Met up with Tracey, nice lady. Very sleepy town in the winter but nice. Spent evening in the Square Internet cafe and had a steak meal. Went on the beach every day at siesta time, Sea cold but children did go in. Market on Thursday in Gran Alacant, Santa Pola market on Monday and Saturday and Alicante market on Friday. Christmas evening meal in the Dragon restaurant. Christmas day meal cooking in the oven whilst we spent time on the beach. Time at pool (cold) was lovely - got a nice glow. A very good Christmas - just what the boys and I needed - time out.

Very good place and hot even at christmas

Great place perfect location clean and tidy, and still warm at CHRISTMAS,and bar s and shops just up the road. I would recommend to friends or relatives, the square is a good place to go bar s and good restaurants.
Owners Response: Still warm at Christmas sounds great, just what we need to get through the rest of this winter in England.
If you stay for New Year make sure you follow the Spanish tradition and eat the 12 grapes at midnight.
It is also well worth staying to see the Three Kings Day in Spain on January 6 - Dia de Los Reyes in Spanish. It is virtually as important as Christmas itself, especially for kids, as this is the day when they get their presents! The fun starts the evening before, when the three kings lead their procession through the streets, throwing sweets to the children. The next morning, the children wake up to find their presents have been left overnight .Both Santa Pola and Alicante host these processions on the 5th of January. It makes for an amazing night out.

Beautiful house, clean and tidy. Just what we needed with a wonderful terraced area! However the incredible view completed the package WOW! Great location close to the shops, bars and beach. We even managed to walk back up the hill each day. Alicante was worth a visit and only 1.40 euros each way. Aqualandia was great fun too. The beach at night was also well worth a visit. All in all a great week. Thank you

We had the loveliest week in this gorgeous house. Tracey made us feel very welcome and secure from the onset. The house is perfectly situated, close to everything you could need for a week's break. The beach is fantastic, never crowded and you do get used to the climb up the hill after. Thank you Linda, Gordon, Tracey and the lovely neighbours.

Had a great week in Gran Alacant. The house had everything that you needed, with a lovely balcony. The house was very clean and comfortably fit the 4 of us. We spent several days on the beach - the beach is lovely and only a short walk down the hill. A pretty steep walk back up to the house, but we managed it each time. Lots of restaurants to choose from, we recommend Claudia's Steak House! Overall, a great pad for a relaxing holiday, thanks!

Owners Response: I think everyone loves this beach and the views on the walk down are amazing. Having good restaurants close by in the evening are a bonus.
Thank you

Fabulous Getaway

Date Submitted: August 08, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
We stayed in the apartment in July 2011 for a week. The villa had everything we needed and more! excellent decor and fabulous large bathroom - for 3 x girls - it was a must!!! We sat outdoors most evenings in the lovely warm breeze and drank sangria. We found the local supermarket very reasonably priced, as were the local restaurants "in the square" at the top of the hill. The walk to the beach was refreshing even in the midday heat as there was a lovely sea breeze and wonderful views. The walk back up the hill was daunting, but we kept thinking about the calories we were burning off! I would definitely return to this villa...without a doubt one of the best week's holidays i have experienced. Many thanks to the owner, who has great taste in decor - and provides something for any eventuality! Thanks for a great holiday. Kirsten, Anita and Briony. x

Alicante Villa

Date Submitted: May 04, 2011 Date of Stay: March 2011
This was one of the best holidays we have had. The location was ideal and once we sorted out the road train even the walk to the beach was fun because we knew we didn't have the uphill slog to get back! Everything was in easy reach and enough eateries to chose from. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, again with everything we needed. For the more adventurous there are lots of places to visit within a reasonable taxi ride. The buses were easy to use and everyone very friendly and offered help/advice when asked.

My husband and I have just spent a lovely week in Gran Alcant. The location was perfect just a short walk to the beautiful beach but if you were feeling lazy there was the little train or bus that would take you down. The accommodation was like home from home very comfortable and well equipped with everything to make your stay perfect. We found some very nice restaurants within walking distance and enjoyed the weekly market where things are so cheap. The town of Alicanti is within easy reach with some interesting shops and harbour with lots of boats where we spent an enjoyable day. I would really recommend this to my friends and family and will certainly be going back.

Fantastic Holiday

Date Submitted: June 16, 2010 Date of Stay: May 2010
We arrived on the 30th May for one week and had a really good holiday.
Tracey the agent was there to meet us and provided us with all the information we needed about the area.
House was fantastic very clean and tidy, neighbours were lovely and was close to shops and resturants. The beach was fantastic and if you can't make it up the hill on the way back the buses come every hour.
Went into Santa Pola for the evening but it was very quiet and did not enjoy it as not much there.

Great beach holiday just what we wanted and would book to go again.

Recommended for: Romantic Getaway, Families with Young Children

Owners Response: Santa Pola may not be as busy in the evenings unless of course there is a fiesta in which case the streets are buzzing with life and a great atmosphere. It is quite busy during the daytime too unless it is Siesta time. Another interesting point about Santa Pola is the amazing fish which are bought in from the many fishing boats....this happens about 4pm each day and it's great to buy some and take home for your tea.

"Recharging batteries"

syklosofen Bergen, Norway.
Date Submitted: March 09, 2010 Date of Stay: February 2010
After a hard winter in Norway we were looking for an early spring. We found your house on Internet, and what fascinated us was "the seaview" it promised. From the livingroom and the bedrooms we enjoyed the fantastic view of the beach. We did much walking on the endless beach, tasting the silence, practising thinking and conversations - we did have quality time! We also walked to the lighthouse that had a very perfect location. The bus service to Alicante was good, and climbing the castle is a must. We were really surprised by all the very good restaurants close to the house - not to forget the excellent tablewines, either included or almost free! The house in itself is lovely, nice rooms and colours - a good kitchenpart and a very nice bathroom. Tracey does a very good job to keep it tidy! Soft towels and good beds. If we will be planning to visit Alicante once more, we will take contact! The payment, security cheque etc is well organized by Linda and Gordon - nothing to worry about!
Back in Norway w feel fine, ready to fight the rst of the winter!
Thanks for a lovely week-

Inger and Svein
Bergen, Norway

Recommended for: Romantic Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Age 55+

Owners Response: What better review can we have to assure future renters our property is as advertised. "Tasting the silence" is a good way to describe the local area during the winter months. During the summer Gran Alacant has a different feel when things are a bit more lively and the welcome sea breezes make it possible to take walks on the beach even on the hottest days.

I was looking for a quiet, peaceful holiday with plenty of sun, sand and sangria - that's just what I got. The villa was an excellent base to the nearby beach/seafront. The pool was underused to was virtually ours the whole week. There's a number of excellent restaurants nearby and easy access to the main town of Alicante if you can be bothered!

Overall, a great holiday and I'm already thinking about next year.
Owners Response: Lots of sun in an October holiday is such a bonus to set you up for the British winter. Lots of guests comment on the pool being empty so yet another bonus.
For anyone re-booking we offer a 10% discount.

June holiday at Blue Sky House

Date Submitted: July 07, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Had a great time and want to go again already! House had everything we could have needed. This holiday was all about relaxing, and we did, very easily. It was even nice to have an evening meal on the terrace and not feel the need to go out if you didn't want to make the effort. Plenty of places to eat if you do go out, and very convenient for shops. We hired a car, but if you are fit enough, the hill from the beach would be good exercise. Used the communal pool every day too, and it was nearly always just us in it. Nice neighbours too. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed it and have already recommended it to others. Thanks Linda and Gordon.

Owners Response: Most people do comment on the hill....that's why there are such fantastic views! What a good way to get fit though by walking up and down the hill next to the beach. Evening meals on the terrace are very appealing especially during these credit crunch times
Thank you.

I stayed a week with family at the above address for what I thought would be a nice, cheap, relaxing holiday away!! This is what I got. The apartment was lovely, clean and homely. The only let down for me was the size of the single beds (im 6'2 inches) and the beds are small. Other than this I was very comfortable.

I really enjoyed walking to the beach which isn't very far away at all. 10 minutes walk which is just the exercise I needed to keep me fit without going to a gym.

The resturants were very close and very nice. Two in perticular were great value for money. A local stake house and chinese. Eat as much as you like for 10 Euros. The food was cooked to perfection.

Alicante was very near by for shopping and had some nice stores to look at and is a nice day out.

The beach is lovely and the water is great for swimming in. Its ideal for walks. Also, there are graet masseurs if you'd like an all over massage.

I would definately consider going back for a holiday there again if I wanted to just get away and relax in the sun.

we have just returned from this fantastic holiday, (hubby and kids 9 and 11), and had a brilliant time. the accomodation was perfect and very clean on our arrival. lots of details given by the owners and john, who picked us up from the airport. The kids had such a great time, in the swimming pool, lots of things to entertain the children both at villa and in surrounding area, i think they spent most of the time in the water at one beach or another, no two days were the same, the shops around the property were well stocked, and very friendly staff, and the neighbours were a great hit with the children, including Carmilla the dog, who my daughter wanted to bring home with her, they even made us a spanish omelette for our last meal, on the last day to save us cooking which was wonderful. i would certainly recommend and already have done, to my friends and family. The only thing i would recommend if you have young children, try to take some dvds, for them to watch early in morning or at night, as the owners supply lots of videos or dvds, but none really for my childrens age group or younger.......was certainly the best holiday we have had in a long time, and looking forward to next one, from beginning the booking to being dropped of at the airport, the owners and john in alicante itself, couldnt have been more helpful

sue, john, alex and katie-may

The property is close to shops, restaurants and local market. The beach is just down the hill, it's steep but a bus or the tourist train will get you there. The house was very clean and really well equipped, if you are cooking in then you should find all the utensils you require. Gran Alacant is a good base if you are wanting to drive around the Costa Blanca, the motorway being close by although personally i like to come across villages as I get lost on the small roads.
I have to thank Linda and Gordon for the for the excellent communications before and after the holiday, will certainly keep Blue Sky House on my list of places to stay.

Owners Response: Thank you very much for the positive feedback, very useful for future guests.Yes it's great having the extra "road train" now for transport up and down the hill for those of you who do not wish to walk, even though it is good exercise! Positioned at the top of the hill it means we have the advantage of the wonderful views with the shops and restaurants very close by and now the easy access to the beach.

This holiday home is ideal for couples, the house is very clean and comfortable, perhaps could be improved by adding another seat or sofa to sit on, if you are not very mobile it could be a problem, the beach is quite a way away down a hill known locally as Cardiac Hill but it can be overcome because there is a bus service that will take you there for 1euro 20. which runs every hour and the bus stop is approx 150 yrds away. There isn't much for children to do but there is a very good communal pool. The restaurants are within walking distance and we enjoyed each one we visited. We would certainly recommend this holiday to our friends for a relaxing break.

Owners Response: Thank you for your useful comments. Extra seats will now be provided for extra comfort when we visit in December or before if we can arrange it.
As well as the local bus there is also (new this year) a road "train" which tours Gran Alacant picking up and putting down at various restaurants and shopping areas and also the beach area.
*Now offering returning guests a 10% DISCOUNT of all published tarifs - contact for price when re-booking*

I have returned for the 2nd time this year also having stayed in previous years. This time with my partner and our 4 yr old son. Best weather experienced so far. The hill as ever remains challenging but we were definitely fitter by the end of the holiday. The buggy provided by Linda and Gordon proved a God send especially up the hill from the beach. As usual good accommodation, good food and sangria, friendly people (especially neighbours). Local agents also extremely knowlegable and helpful. Back in May next year.

Owners Response: Thank you Anita. Glad you all enjoyed it and got fit into the bargain.
Yes we are lucky to have such friendly neighbours and I am sure they would have made a big fuss of your son.
Thank you for booking with us yet again.
Gordon and Linda

Great holiday in Gran Alacant

I really enjoyed a week in Gran Alacant with my girlfriend. We found it a good escape and enjoyed spending time at the beach and generally relaxing around the local area. During the evenings we went to many of the local bars and restaurants, we also walked into Araneles and enjoyed many lunches in some of the new and upcoming bars.
You could always venture into the city on the bus for the day, we spent the whole day in Alicante shopping then staying to eat in the evening before getting the bus back.
There is a lot to keep you entertained in Gran Alicant but if thats not your thing then you don't have far to go to find a quiet relaxing spot.

Owners Response: Thank you Gareth and Anna. It's so good to get such positive feed back and this time from a young couple. As you say lots to do, good restaurants and bars but good for relaxing as well especially in Gran Alacant itself.

My fantastic holiday!

I have recently returned from a fantastic holiday in which I stayed in this lovely property with three of my friends. The property itself was beautifully clean and spacious and its interior had a traditional spanish feel. It was lovely on waking to see the sea from the bedroom window each morning - a view which is also greatly appreciated from the patio downstairs from which we dined alfresco many a times!
Its location is both very handy for the beach and restaurants, and although Grand Alicant is quite a quiet place there is still plenty to do! Alicante itself is also an easy bus journey for the nights we did want to party!
This was my third time in booking properties via Linda and Gordon and each time I've had a amazing time and can't wait to return next year.

Owners Response: It's always good to get such good reviews and very encouraging to see repeat bookings. Holiday makers often comment about the fantastic views and idea location. We always appreciate and of course look forward to positive reviews.

A one week stay at Blue Sky House- Fantastic!

J-L United Kingdom.
Date Submitted: January 14, 2008 Date of Stay: January 2008
We stayed at Blue Sky House for a week over NY 2008 and it was wonderful. We love the sea/beach and this was easily accessible and a beautiful beach to relax and enjoy! It was quiet at this time of the year in Gran Alicant, but we imagined it would be very busy in the Summer. Besides a holiday by the sea in a quiet town, the location offers the opportunity to travel to nearby towns and cities without hassle. Elx/Elche is a wonderful city and only a 20 minute drive away. There is also Alicante and Santa Pola which are even closer and many more places to visit. We also went into the mountains and beautiful countryside, which is only an hour away. Gran Alacant is a great place to spend a week (or more) especially if you have a car to get around! Blue Sky house has everything you need and is ideally situated in Gran Alicant itself.
Dealing with Linda and Gordon (owners) was a pleasure.
We highly recommend this property.

Owners Response: A big thank you to Jen-Lin for the very positive feedback after their recent stay in our property. This has been particularly welcome as we are quite new to the holiay-rentals web site and it has even given us ideas of different places to visit when we are there ourselves.
Gordon and I really love Blue Sky House but of course we are biased so it really is encouraging to have someone else agree.
Thank you once again.
Linda and Gordon
