An oasis of calm

This riad is an oasis of calm just seconds from the center of the Marrakech Medina. The living areas are serene, the beds are comfortable and the rooftop terrace is exquisite. I can't recommend the riad highly enough. Make sure to have Fatima cook at least one meal for you. Her cooking rivals the finest restaurants in Morocco.

Beautifully decorated riad, great position

Tabasco London.
Date Submitted: October 30, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
The riad is conveniently situated 1 minute from the main square. Beautifully decorated with lovely roof terrace to eat meals. Fatima prepared wonderful breakfasts and will cook an evening meal if you want ( she cooks a great tagine) and she kept the place immaculately. It advertises a pool under facilities, which is misleading, as this is only available through another riad, not at Dar Yaoumi.
The main bedroom has its own bathroom and toilet, but the second smaller bedroom, while having a shower, does not have a toilet and you have to go downstairs for this, which can be inconvenient.. This bedroom is situated over the street, so can be a bit noisy - take your earplugs if you are a light sleeper. A mobile phone is provided to call the manager for any advice or information.
Yes I would recommend it.

A wonderdul stay in a wonderful traditional dar rigth in the heart of Marrakech. We were delighted by the house settings. Beautiful decoration and so confortable, which is essential after a day out walking around the medina. All this was made even more delightful thanks to the warm welcome of Fatima and her excellent cooking. In short a stay in Dar Yaoumi not to be missed.

Hi Pierre,

I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you and to let you know we had a wonderful holiday at the riad. It is so beautiful and we loved the tranquility of being in there and hearing all the craziness of Marrakech outside! Fatima was amazing - please pass our thanks again to her. Her food was beautiful and she was wonderfully helpful - even with our broken French! It was all just perfect.

Many thanks and kind regards,
Jo

We had a nice time staying at this riad, the place is spotless and Fatima is very friendly. She makes lovely chocolate pancakes!
The riad is in a great location for the sights. The decor is lovely but the fountain was broken when we were there.
The only problem we had was it was quite noisy outside, which could be heard from the front bedroom, my friend was woken up in the night by cats fighting, and I was woken up by a VERY loud bird!! Of course this can't be helped and i'd definately recommend this riad to friends.

The best place to stay when visiting Marrakech

Last week we visited Marrakech and stayed in this wonderful Riad, indeed a paradise right in the middle of the medina and next door to the hammam. We can really recommend this place, its all that you can dream of and more! Fatima is a very good cook, a caring and pleasant person, who made our stay even better. I even got her family reicpy for making the chicken Tahin. The atmosphere in the Riad is very relaxing and trendy furnished, a mixture of tradition and design. The rooftop is romantic, overall this Riad is value for money, we hope to come back and will certainly recommend it to all our friends.

Dear Pierre, Greg and Fatima

Thank you for an excellent break at Dar Yaoumi in Marrakech. The accommodation was first class and beautifully maintained with all the comfort that one could wish for. The communication with us was excellent throughout the trip which started off with the booking and continued to arranging transfers etc.
The home was ideally situated to explore the Jemaa el Fna and the souks but located off the main square for some privacy and quiet.

Fatima worked tirelessly making the home feel our own and the breakfast on the roof terrace was a wonderful experience.

We will let others know that there is this oasis is available and at such a good price! My children, who are the most demanding customers, really enjoyed the Riad too. We will certainly be back for future holidays.

BW

Shafi, Farzana, Usmaan and Zarina

We had a fab time in Marrakech and we loved the riad, its absolutely beautiful! Fatima was also so kind and sweet, we felt so well looked after, it was a really good break for us.

We loved the main square and the fact that we were so near to it - and also found that when we were ready for a rest we could easily drift back to the tranquillity of the riad. A perfect balance of excitement and relaxation.

Hello Pierre,

Thank you and "the Team" for a wonderful visit to Marrakech. The riad was absolutely beautiful and charming and spacious and the hospitality was wonderful - roses in the master bedroom, and floating rose petals and incense, the tea and little pastries served upon arrival - such elegant touches. We especially loved the wall of water and sparkling lights, the birds flying in and out, the lovely decor, the absolutely sumptuous bedding and linens, and the delightful roof top terrace. It was a real refuge of peace and tranquility after spending time outside in the heat, dodging vehicles of all sorts, and taking in all the sights and sounds.

We thought Marrakech was an amazing place to visit; and my husband turned out to be a great shopper - several of the shopkeepers called him a "Berber Man" and had fun bargaining with him. The colorful chaos in the Place was otherworldly, exciting, and a real sensory experience which we all loved ! And you were right when you told me it was a "massively" different culture; and we truly enjoyed "Planet Marrakech", as my daughter affectionately calls it.

We were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed Fatima's cooking and service and her especially sweet, thoughtful, and caring nature. She was so kind to us all. I had fun speaking to her in my very rusty, high school French - she was very patient and helpful. I also commend her for working even though she had a bad toothache, which she had tended to while we were there. She just kept smiling and quietly going about her work, even though I knew she was in pain.

Thank you for asking for me. I had a bit of a rough time, and felt badly that we had to miss the trip to Seti Fatma that Greg had arranged for us, but after a couple of rounds of antibiotics, I am feeling fine. We arrived back in the US on Monday the 18th after spending the rest of our vacation in Madrid, Marbella, Seville, and the final week at my mother-in-law's in the Algarve, Portugal. Dar Yaoumi was our favorite apartment.

We heard about your mother's accident and I hope she is recovering and feeling much better.

Thank you again for a delightful stay at Dar Yaoumi. We would definitely recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Marrakech.

Wishing you the best, always,
Susan, Fernando, Abby and Nick

Something Special

billandie Manchester UK.

From booking the property, being welcomed by the local manager, to being returned to the airport for our flight home this was the way to visit a foreign location!

This superb accomadation in Marrakech provided an unforgetable experience. The house was wonderful and the owner, Pierre, must be congratulated on the way in which he has restored this wonderful property, a real oasis amongst the mayhem of this extraordinary part of North Africa! Located in the centre of the Old City you are not just a tourist but experience the atmosphere in a way that is just not possible when based in a hotel or shared riad.

Fatima - what a wondeful hostess, looked after our every need. Her cuisine was fantastic and she really played a major part in making our visit so enjoyable.

I would be pleased to recommend Dar Youami to any visitor to Marrakech seeking something special.
