Los Milanos - 09/09

The following review should be read bearing in mind that we were a party of 2 + a dog and therefore the property was not occupied to its maximum, only one bedroom and bathroom were used and the top floor of the property was not used at all.
Description of property - accurate (one proviso which was probably the fault of our interpretation, was that we expected the garden to be completely walled and therefore secure to leave our dog to roam free in our absence, but this is not the case)
Facilities / Equipment / etc - well equipt
Comfort - kitchen / dining area / lounge were compact but comfortable; main bedroom - good size with a comfortable and truly super king size bed; 1st floor bathroom - ample for 2 people to use at the same time; terrace - good size with ample seating, nice views and private.
Access - easy to find, only 10 mins from autoroute
Owner support / help - very good; waiting for us on arrival; good explanation of property; lovely meal provided; quick response to ground floor toilet blockage; even obtained good seats for us for a football match at Racing Santander.
Local amenities - San Vicente offers the majority of what is required (small but good quality supermarket; restaurants; etc) with a larger selection not too far away.
Location - excellent - great views, very private, but not totally isolated.
Things to do / see - endless possibilities - beautiful small towns e.g. Santillana; larger towns and cities worth a visit (Santander, Gijon, Burgos); great walking in the picos and around the coast (this was the main reason we chose the location); surfing - if you have kids or are young enough to enjoy this yourself, it seemed very popular and the sea looked perfect for it.
Recommended - very simple - go down to the beach and walk into San Vicente, have lunch there and walk off the food and wine on the way back.

Los Milanos: A great family holiday

MatG Frankfurt.
Date Submitted: August 11, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We have only the highest praise for Los Milanos: the location is perfect (wonderful views of sea and mountains; large safe garden for children;close to beautiful beaches); the house itself is cosy and family-oriented; and the owners - Guido and Rosana - go out of their way to make the holiday special. We asked them if it might be possible to find someone to cook for us occasionally (as a large family with young children it is difficult to enjoy eating late - Spanish style - in restaurants. Rosana cooked wonderful food for us, from a list of main courses, snacks, soups and desserts. The food was tasty and plentiful and meant that all we had to do was take delivery and warm it up!
Los Milanos suits a wide variety of holiday needs. If you are looking for an active holiday there is terrific surfing at the local beaches (and very good surf schools). Our two older boys did a 5 day surf course and enjoyed it a lot. The beaches are also great for smaller children - wide and sandy and safe. The mountains are a short (20 minute) drive away. We only drove around them to sightsee but they are clearly a paradise for walkers, climbers and cyclists. If you want a quieter holiday you could just stay at Los Milanos and enjoy the view!
Overall, we highly recommend Los Milanos.

we have rented many beautiful homes through holiday-rentals, but this villa was exceptionally nice. not only the incredible views to beach and mountains in a bucolic setting , but the helpfullness of the hosts was wonderful, from tips on where to shop for groceries, to places to visit and than a welcome dinner and a delicious paella. the spanish countryside is breathtaking and the friendliness of the people overwhelming. we certainly would love to come back.

A house on an extraordinary place in Cantabria

Reint The Netherlands.
Date Submitted: June 09, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
It will be difficult to find a holyday villa with so much unobstructed view in Cantabria. The villa is fitted with most comforts. However, guests have to bring their own telephone and internet, if required.
Relating to shopping: Their could have been more information on the only shop (= restaurant) in La Revilla (not all days open) and San Vincente (opening hours?).
Relating to touristic information including restaurants: This could have been better organised and completed.

Panorama house

Date Submitted: November 05, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We were staying in Los Milanos during one week in October. With 4 adults and 2 young kids this house was probably the best choice we could make for this vacation. Close to nature and probably the best views you can get on sea and snowy mountains. The house is fully equipped, clean and we had great help and advice from the owner. It's most certain that we will return next year.

The place to relax and enjoy nature

TAAN Frankfut.
Date Submitted: June 16, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We enjoyed a week of tranquility and silence. The house is located on the top of a hill with wonderful views to the mountains and sea.

The house itself is very comfortable. Fully equpped kttchen and tasteful furniture. You will not miss anything.

The location is quiet, but close to plenty of nice spots to visit within a short time: Caves, nice spanisch towns and villages, sport acitvities. For an evening drink or dinner San Vicente can be reached within a very short drive (not more than 5 minutes). The north of Spain is worth a visit.

The owners are wonderful people. They can provide you with plenty of excursion tips and very good restaurant recommendations. Thanks for their help!

When you do want to fill up your batteries. This is the place to stay!!!
