An amazing week!

Had an amazing week here. All loved the apartment-so much space for all of us to spread out-read,relax,play games and music. Essaouira is a special place-wonderfulpeople and atmosphere. Found most interesting shops and artisan workshops down little side streets and alleys. Barber a few shops down on lefthand side gives a great shave! Had fun buying meat and veg on Avenue L'istiqlal and spices ets to experiment in the kitchen. Hope to come back one day.

A fantastic apartment!

My friends and I spent Christmas here and had the most wonderful time. It's situated right in the heart of Essaouira yet, when you shut the front door, you are in a gorgeous oasis of calm. The apartment is beautifully decorated and was wonderfully spacious for three people, and we found the outdoor terrace to be the perfect setting for toasting the festive season! The hosts are gracious and helpful, and Essaouria itself is a town I will return to again and again. We will be back!

Six of us travelled here from Marrakech and it did not disappoint. Amazing place with everything you could need and in an amazing location. Spent the days wandering around the Medina and beach and the nights cooking up food from the markets. Highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back again. Thanks Sarah

Fabulous, Excellent for our 2 small kids

Date Submitted: December 17, 2010 Date of Stay: November 2010
We stayed 10 days in November in the apartement and enjoyed it very much. Very spacious, everything you need is there, also equipment for a baby (chair, bed).
Perfect for our kids (1 and 3 yrs. old) They loved to play in all the rooms and on all the beds.
The location is amazing, we enjoyed the strolls throught the medina with all the little shops. You find everything on your doorstep, fresh bread, veggies, fish and also small restaurants and cafés.
There are several little shops where you can buy bread, milk, and other things. We walked often to the beach, where you can find some cafés and kids playground on the promenade. We loved the Ocean's restaurant at the end of the beacht promenade. Nice food, relaxed atmosphere and free sunchairs and sundbeds. Also equipped with a playground for the kids.
We loved the really relaxing atmosphere in Essaouira and the lovely people all around. All of them seemed to be very relaxed and there were really friendly.
Omar and Fatima were also very helpfull and friendly. We can hardly recommend this appartment, especially for families, the locations is awsome, the apartmen spacious and it's all one one floor.

Magical Essaouria

Kathy and Vic Hackney London.
Date Submitted: October 18, 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010
We had our best ever holiday in this lovely apartment. Situated in the heart of the kasbah you could soak up the sun on the terrace or watch the hustle and bustle below from the comfort of the day bed. It was fascinating watching the place come to life each day, and closing down at night,I loved the people watching. The beautiful uncrowded beach is only 5 minutes away, going to the ramparts and watching the sunset was magical. Shopping in the market was a new experience, I have never haggled before. We very quickly adapted to the laid back feel of the place and acquired the Essaouria Shuffle by day 2. We only ate out once in the fish stalls by the harbour. It was nice. But, the local market had wonderful fresh vegetables, meat and fish. We cooked delicious tagines with the yummy freshly baked bread. It was so easy to relax in this spacious apartment that we will have to return again to explore more of Essaouria with its friendly people. Loved every single second of our stay.

Nice place, great holiday

Date Submitted: September 08, 2010 Date of Stay: June 2010
The apartment was spacious and perfectly located. There was no shortage of towels, bed sheets and blankets which was greatly appreciated.
We found the terrace slightly disappointing since we had expected some privacy and were not aware that the windows of other apartments open to the same terrace.
During the Gnaoua festival we spent a few sleepless nights, due to the fact that there is a record store across from the apartment which blasted music for 24 hours, three days in a row. That was a bit nerve-wracking.
Other than that we had a great time and everything worked out perfectly.

Owners Response: I am glad that you enjoyed your stay in our apartment during the Gnoua Festival in June. The festival attracts a lot of visitors and Essaouira can be very busy and crowded for those few days. At any other time of year the shop closes at night and even in the daytime they are not noisy- they must have caught the festival spirit!.
Our friendly neighbours only visit their adjacent apartment twice a year and even when there they rarely open their (frosted) windows. Their occasional presence has never stopped us enjoying the terrace for barbecues and sunbathing.
I hope you return to enjoy Essaouira in it's usual peace!

A great place to spend New Years Eve

The apartment was just what we could have hoped for; clean, well equipped and very central. We certainly felt 'at home' as soon as we arrived, our taxi brought us to Essaouira late at night and it was a really nice touch that a meal had been prepared and left on the table for us. The apartment was modern and had most of what you would wish for in terms of mod-cons but retained enough features and quirky aspects that made you feel you were away from home. It was very easy to relax in the apartment, maybe sometimes too easy!. I would certainly recommend it to a couple or family looking to take a trip to this fascinating region of Morocco. Make sure you take a stroll along the old ramparts, climb a canon or two and watch the waves crashing in.

Didn't quite know what to expect but the apartment exceded all we could have hoped for by far!!! A beautiful place in a great location. Great to relax if the hustle and bustle of the medina became too much. What an experience to be right in the medina and only five minutes by foot from the beach! Apartment is very well equipped with everything you need to feel at home. Very clean and homely. Would love to come back one day!

Beautiful Apartment, great holiday

gcneet London.
Date Submitted: February 07, 2010 Date of Stay: September 2009
We had high expectations of this apartment after reading the reviews and talking to the owner, but our every expectations were met and more.

Double high ceilings create such a sense of space, together with the quintessential Moroccan architectural features and tasteful decoration throughout, we found ourselves looking at and marveling at little details throughout our stay. No wonder that a senior bureaucrat used to live in this apartment!

The apartment is very centrally located inside the medina, right next to one of the pedestrian arteries of the medina. This means that at night when you are sipping your mint tea or whiskey on the patio, you are engulfed with the sounds of talking and chatting of the old town right below you. You really feel that you are sitting in the lungs of the medina. Such atmosphere. We did not miss not seeing the sea from the apartment because the sea is everywhere with just a short walk.

The kitchen is sufficiently equipped so you could do as much self-catering as you want. If I was allowed to recommend only one of the many many restaurants in the medina, it would be Elizer.

The apartment is a bit on the pricey side (we thought at first) but we found it good value for money considering what it is and where it is.

Every aspect of our stay was perfect thanks to our local and foreign hostesses. Thanks to you again

A lovely week in Essaouira with our toddler

Date Submitted: June 02, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We had a fantastic week staying at Sarah and Majid's apartment in Essaouira. It was perfect with our 15 month old who was safe to toddle everywhere as the apartment is all on one level. He really enjoyed the terrace which was safely enclosed and we especially enjoyed being so close to the souks where we bought wonderful fresh fruit, vegetables and fish, and enjoyed cooking in the evenings. We had fantastic days on the beach and exploring the souks and even managed a bit of windsurfing at one of the local centres. All in all it was the perfect holiday and we hope to return soon! Thanks to your family in Essaouira who were friendly and helpful and welcoming. It was reassuring to have people we could contact if we needed anything.

This spacious and airy apartment was the perfect retreat for our family during our stay in Essaouira. Great location...right in the middle of the spice market and across from the internet cafe! Very clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast on the terrace (fresh bread and honey every morning from shop around corner) was a great way to start the day! Enjoyed wandering the alleys and streets of the medina, relaxing on the beautiful beach, and early morning walks to see the fishing boats come into the harbor. Fatima and Omar very helpful and available! A wonderful find and place to call home while in Essaouira!

Don't be put off by the entrance - a fabulous treat awaits you up the stairs. The apartment is very central and the local traders very helpful - local food markets and fresh bread right close by - you're right in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the souks and can throw open the window and take in all the sights and sounds - particularly thrilling, the call of the muezzin - and yet so quiet inside - especially peaceful at night when you need it.

Beautifully decorated with lots of interesting art, lamps, moroccan features. Very comfortable with lots of cushions and so spacious. Welcome roof terrace which catches the sun at various times of day.

Sarah and Majid's family very helpful in settling us in and giving us lots of hot tips on where to go and what to do.

Essaouira is a place to wander and chill. We loved it and would definitely recommend it for like-minded families with teenage girls who want local facilities on tap, a refuge to escape and generally just enjoy a laid back comfortable time.

This is an amazing place, full of light and right in the heart of the medina. It is really comfortable and a haven from the hustle and bustle of the adjoining street markets. Sarah and Majid are lovely and spent time making sure that we had all the inside track on the best places to visit in Essaouira.

The flat was immaculate and beautifully presented with quirky art and some funky 70s lights and furniture. Hot water on tap - bath and shower. We paid an extra £3 a day for the wonderful Habiba who came, washed up, did the washing and made the place sparkle every mornng. Luxury!!

It is one of the best holidays I've ever had. Thank you Sarah & Majid. We're definitely coming back.
