Lovely Villa in a delightful Setting |

We arrived for a weeks stay at the end of August to glorious sunshine and a villa that far exceeded our expectations. This fabulous villa is set into a beautiful hillside with spectacular views of the ocean.
The property was suited to our needs perfectly - we have three children aged 12, 9 and 9. The pool was spotless and well maintained also being equipped with coloured nightlights that the kids thought was amazing.
The villa itself is most tastefully decorated and had everything that we would have put on a 'wish list' with a well equipped kitchen and an impressive gas BBQ which was perfect for alfresco dining in the lovely garden. On our arrival the place was absolutely pristine. There was plenty of space within the villa to find a quiet place to read or relax and we particularly liked the two terraces that both overlook the pool. It meant that we could keep an eye on the kids splashing around whilst either sitting in full sun on the top tearrace or the alternative shadier lower terrace.
We can't really comment on local attractions as we only left the villa for one day during our stay!! There was no need to go anywhere else for what we were looking for in a holiday! On our 'day out' we drove to Figueres to the Salvidor Dali Museum which was a interesting if surreal day out. We did see some lovely beaches close by but we didn't visit them, preferring the privacy of the garden and pool.
We used a supermarket in Begur (2 miles drive if that) for our shopping. Upstairs in the shop is a fresh meat counter where a very friendly spanish lady serves a great selection of meats and fresh kebabs perfect for the BBQ. We tended to do this most days although on our last night we visited a very nice restaurant in nearby Sa Tuna where we were made to feel very welcome!
I would certainly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a family holiday where peace and relaxation are a priority.

We went with two kids (8 & 11) in June/July 09 at it was superb.Pool nice and clean, cosy garden, lots of beaches to choose. You will need a car to get the full value of the aerea.House was nice furnished and spacious, with a extra tv and playstation 2 for the kids in a separate room downstairs. Spacious terrace outside the living room with sea wievs.Lots of good snorkelling at the beach, we recommend "Sa Riera" if you have kids. We had no trouble finding our way to the house as the owner had made an informative describtion.

Perfect spot for our family of four. Many nearby beaches: Sa Riera was our favourite, with the breathtaking walk over to Sa Raco. The kids loved the heated pool and were in it all the time.
The location is amazing...you feel quite private from the neighbours and the views from the deck and garden are spectacular.
There is no internet access at this time but that offers you a perfect excuse to spend time at the nearby Hotel Vintage patio bar with its gorgeous setting (and free wifi).
John went above and beyond in answering any and all questions we had. The booklet they prepared was also very informative.
Highly recommended.

We can highly recommend this villa on the Costa Brava for its privacy, wonderful views, quality amenities, and beautiful rugged coastline just outside the door.
There are some wonderful walks to small fishing villages with nice restaurants along the costal walkway and if you want a sandy beach there are two (Sa Riera & Sa Tuna) just 30 mins walk away. The villa had everything we needed and the pool was especially great if we wanted a dip to cool off. We also liked to grill out. The bottle of wine in the refrigerator was much appreciated and there were plenty of books to read.
Begur had a good supermarket plus there were some quaint shops in the old center and of course plenty of gelato stops. Nearby there are some small inland villages as well as coastal resorts, depending on your preference. The Dali museum in Figueres was less than an hour away.
P.S. John was always responsive to our questions when we were planning and the booklet the owners have prepared covers every question you may have about the villa.

The villa was just as wonderful as the pictures and description - well decorated, amazing sea views, great facilties, clean and the bonus of a fabulous heated pool. The owners provided excellent information prior to our stay and also during our stay in a well put together welcome folder. I would definately recommend the property and the great area in where it is situated to anyone that is looking for a relaxing break. There are many beautiful beaches in the area to visit and by the end of the week we had visited nearly all of them. The only comment I would add if you are taking children under the age of 5 is the pool has no railings (which we were well aware of prior to our stay) around it and at times it was hard when our 1.5 year old wanted to run straight into the pool - we just had to be extra vigilent but this didn't detract from the wonderful stay we had.

Last year we had such a good experience with Les Tres Oliveres that we've decided to come back! Something we normally don't do. And it was just as we remembered. A perfect house, not too big, but is has everything you need, with all the comfort and a beautiful garden and terraces. The pool is fantastic and heated, which is an advantage in the beginning of May. Stunning views. A very accomodating and friendly owner and the same for the couple that take an eye on the property. John, Sian we'd love to come back again.

The villa was great, fully equiped, clean. It has everythin we could wish for on our holiday. The view from the villa was stunning, overlooking the sea.
We enjoyed a very tranquil week in October in a beautiful (green) surrounding. We had a lot of sun, the weather was still very nice and especially the heated swimmingpool was a great succes! We also enjoyed our visit to Barcelona which was very nice to do during our stay in the villa.
The service provided by the owners and their friends in Spain was very good, and made us feel very welcome.
I will definitely come back her again and would recommended the villa to my friends.
Thank you John and Sian for a wonderful villa an holiday!

The villa is very well maintained, and the decor is classic and stylish. There's a lovely view of the sea from the lounge/balcony, and their contact Neil let us know that he was on hand if we had any questions at all which was a bonus.
Very relaxing and lovely surroundings. Was quite windy on some days, and pool too cold to swim in, but was to be expected in November anyway.

Owners Response: Thanks for the kind comments Louise and Jon. Yes the pool will be cold in November as we only heat it between April and October.
The Tramuntana can pick up out of season which is one of the reasons that the Catalans call it 'the wild coast'.
Even when it is very windy around the house we are lucky in that you can usually sit out on the balcony and watch the sea turning white and the trees swaying across the valley. If it is too rough, you can always sit on the outside sofa under the arches which still has the view and is always sheltered.
This part of the coast is fortunate because if the wind is blowing here you can drive 15 minutes around the headland of Cap de Begur to Calella where it will be protected and if it is windy there, it will be sheltered at the house!
Thanks and come and stay with us again.

The villa exceeded expectations. The views from the balcony were superb and far better than could be grasped from the photos. The garden and pool were private, unoverlooked and peaceful. The area around was beautiful but in the end we could not tear oursleves away from the villa much.
The villa itself was well equipped and had the benefit of feeling very much like a home. The beds were comfortable and unusually for holiday accommodation the sofas were of good quality. The kids were very happy with the den with the large TV and playstation and it was conveniently situated so that the noise from it could not be heard elsewhere.
A little more information in the welcome pack on supermarkets would have been helpful (general opening times & specific locations)
Thank you for a great week

Renting direct can be a risky business … will my booking be honoured? Is the property as good as it sounds and looks? Will everything work as it should? These were the thoughts in our minds when we first took the plunge to book a villa direct.
We needn’t have worried. The owners John & Sian were very reassuring and provided a quick and friendly response to our emails – they were happy to chat on the phone too. As well as the detailed website information, a superb Welcome Book is provided in advance with a load of useful information about the villa and location.
‘Les Tres Oliveres’ is a superb villa in excellent condition – it is obvious that the owners use it themselves and it is everything you could want for a great holiday. The villa is in a quiet location, is not overlooked and has superb sea views. A lot of thought has gone into its design and layout. The villa is light and bright with comfortable furniture and beds. There is plenty of equipment in the kitchen; a well equipped ‘den’ with large TV; Playstation and satellite TV to keep children amused if they tire of the pool. Meanwhile adults can enjoy the view; relax on the balcony or laze in the garden. A gas barbeque makes for easy outdoor cooking too!
We all liked the villa so much in 2006 we’re going back again in 2008 – need we say more??!! And this will be our fifth holiday in and around Begur – the area has everything we like for a great holiday. A car is needed to get around but there’s no need to drive far – the town centre is less than 10 minutes away. If you want to go further than the local beach, there’s plenty to choose from within 15-20 minutes drive.
Better than home? – yes, everything as you like it plus better weather than the UK!!

Early May 2008, we spent 2 weeks in this villa. It was really great. The villa consists of a upper floor with a little hall, a kitchen, not too big, but very complete, a living room with 2 comfortable sofa's and a sattelite TV, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Bedrooms are decorated in light colors, beds are good. Bathroom seems recently -tastefully- renovated. Shower and bath both worked perfect. Furthermore a separate litte room, in which the dining table was placed. Superb view of the sea from here. Lower floor has a room ('den') in which a second tv with a PS2. Very cosy in red and yellow with a carpet and a large sofabed with lots of cushions. Our kids loved it to be there. Then, the 3rd bedroom with twin beds, also in light colours and the 2nd bathroom with toilet and shower. The house is very well kept, the owners take good care of their property. In the garden a shed with a washing machine. The garden was at its best when we were there. Beautiful flowers, green lawn and a very nice heated swimmingpool. A terrace with a wooden table and chairs/benches for 6 and 2 big sun chairs on the upper floor and a covered terrace with table and benches on the lower floor. Here also an BBQ on gas. Easy to handle. Other sunchairs around the swimming pool. The villa has sun (in May) from early morning till about 6 PM. Quiet place, not too many houses surrounding. Splendid view. Located between the beatiful bays of Sa Riera and Sa Tuna. A car is needed. Owners provide a 'welcome book' with lots of details of the house and the surroundings. They make you feel welcome.

We had a great time at this villa, and found that it exceeded our expectations. It is extremely well appointed, and is clearly a home as opposed to a villa prepared for rental. The photos couldn't do the place justice, and the views were phenomenal!! Although our children are young (nearly 5, nearly 3, and 17 months) with a little care we were able to ensure they didn't stray near to the pool unattended. When we did use the pool, the boys had great fun, as did I!! I particularly enjoyed cooking on the barbeque! The 'split level' was very practical for my wife's parents to have their own living area downstairs to escape us when necessary! The Welcome Pack was very useful in giving us a headstart to the holiday, although we weren't able to enjoy many of the walks which sadly are not suitable for very young children and prams. We found many of the destinations listed in the welcome pack by car, which include beach fronts with promenades and cafes.
In short, this is a marvellous villa and would recommend it to anyone looking for luxury holiday accommodation, who want more from a holiday than sitting on a beach all day (though you could do this if you wanted!!).
A car is essential for occupying this villa, as amenities such as supermarkets are not within walking distance.

Owners Response: AAAARRGGHH! only 4/5 - that'll spoil our average!!!
Thanks for the great review John, and so glad that you had a good time - shame about the weather. The pool is now heated so that even if it is cloudy, at least the pool will be warm.
As the villa is close to the sea and Begur is at the top of the mountain, most of the restaurants are a drive especially out of season. The restaurants in Aiguafreda are less than15 mins walk, Sa Tuna 25 mins walk and the small Supermarket and restaurants and bars in Sa Riera are less than 30 mins walk. All are usually open from May to September inclusive - many are open longer.
I guess it is a compromise between the location of the town and peacefulness of the villa, but you are correct, we also recommend a car.

We found the villa very well equipped and perfect for our needs. The welcome booklet and information provided was excellent and extremely useful. We loved the area and would definitely return, although possibly when the weather is more predictable. There are beautiful beaches within walking distance or a short drive and there is a wide choice of quality local restaurants which we found to be good value whether we were after a quick snack or an evening meal. We have no hesitation in recommending the villa to others.

Tres Oliveres is a beautiful villa with stunning views and a great layout, especially as a family of 4 with Granny, enabling everyone to have their own space. Well appointed, furnished comfortably and simply, spotlessly clean, with superb outdoor seating both up on the balcony and downstairs with more shade, and welcome heating for chilly evenings. Nestled into the cliff between Sa Riera and Sa Tuna on the coast and Begur inland, with the stunning beaches of Aiguablava and Tamariu just a short drive away, it's position is superb to get away from it all. We loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone-it feels like a real home from home rather than a holiday home. I look forward to returning soon.

The owner was a pleasure to deal with and extremely accomodating. I highly reccommend this villa as a place to "get away".
We really enjoyed tasting the flavor of local catalonia and staying in the villa gave us the feel of being locals vs. staying in a hotel.
The views are better than any of the pictures show. There is shopping close by, but I reccommend car hire, as it gave us a great deal of freedon to move around the countryside at will.

We had a really wonderful family holiday in Les Tres Oliveres. The setting and views were absolutely idyllic and so tranquil. Having the grass around the pool was lovely for our 3 year old and so much safer than concrete. Unfortunately, also having a one year old crawler, we just had to keep a close eye on him all the time.
Our only request would be to have a sun shade/umbrella on the balcony so that we could sit with the children in the shade at breakfast, as it was so hot whilst we were there that sitting inside was a little uncomfortable.
That's just a tiny gripe but it really didn't dimish our enjoyment. Your welcome book was especially useful and we enjoyed some delicious meals in very picturesque settings.
We would definitely love to return one day as we so enjoyed the region too.

We also like to have breakfast on the balcony looking out at the sea and it can get hot in the summer.
We have actually had two parasols but both were damaged when caught by the wind, after being left up. We usually eat in the shaded area under the balcony, especially lunch and in the evening, where it is always cool, whatever the weather.
We think you are right though and will have another go - we'll try another parasol from Easter.

We were delighted with our stay at "Les Tres Olivers". It is a superbb property, spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Although the property can sleep six it is very compact. The swimming pool and garden are wonderful just not very suitable for a one year old.
The house is situated in a great location with wonderful sea views. A car though is essential as there is so much to see and do. We particulary loved trying out the restaurants that John mentioned in his welcome booklet. It is lovely also to take the walk along the cliffs to Se Reiera .
We would definetly recommend both the property and the area to others and hope to return again in the near future.

Owners Response: Thanks for taking the time to leave us feedback Karen and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay.
Yes, you have to be careful with very small children when there is a pool - there's always got to be a balance between how accessible one makes the pool area without making it too difficult for families with older children who want to play on the grass, and jump in the water.
As for being 'compact' the villa does sleep 6 people and the bedrooms are not small, one with a king size bed and two others with twin beds which are not at all squashed in!
The inside dining area easily seats 6 adults. There are two outside eating areas, the one on the upper veranda sits 6 comfortably - a great place to have breakfast and watch the boats sail by, and the lower shaded one has ample room for 8 adults when it gets too hot to be out in the sun.
Thanks again for the recommendation and hope to see you again.
