August 2011

Our week in this property came at the end of our two and a half week, first ever, visit to BC. After a wonderful, though at times exhausting, whistle-stop tour around Vancouver and Victoria Island, Richard's home provided a relaxing and homely sanctuary. It was great to stay in a "real home" rather than a standard holiday-let as the amenities and facilities provided far exceeded our needs and expectations. Most importantly, the house was clean and beds were made up and ready for us. I had good contact with Richard prior to arrival and he telephoned us early on in our stay to ensure we were ok. The setting of the property was truly beautiful. My 11 year old son wasted no time in getting the canoe onto the lake as soon as we arrived and he had a paddle every day. My daughter and husband enjoyed swimming in the warm lake out to the diving platform whilst I sat and watched them from the comfort of the dock. The hot-tub was fun and great to sit and relax in after a hard day on the world-class down hill mountain bike course or kayaking in Whistler. Although I had initial concerns about the property being a 20 min drive from Whistler, these were soon dispelled as the house provided a perfect oasis from the hustle and bustle of Whistler. The estate is very quiet and family orientated. We would definitely return here if we are ever lucky enough to revisit this beautiful part of the world. To sum it all up, this is the first holiday where my 14 year old daughter has cried because she doesn't want to go home- what more can I say!

A fantastic holiday

Arrived at the house after over 26 hrs of travelling from the UK. The house was clean, warm and the beds were all made. The house had ample space for seven of us, all adults ranging from 17-83yrs. The kitchen had everything you need for cooking. The sitting room with the fire going in the evening was lovely. All the bedrooms are of a good size and I particularly enjoyed being able to look up at the stars at night while lying in bed. There is a good view onto the lake where we could watch ice hockey.

The instructons provided by Richard got us to the house without any mistakes. We all had a great stay and holiday and would certainly consider going back. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Ski-ing
We were ski-ing in Whistler, which is about 20-25 mins by car. Finding your way around Whistler Village can be a little difficult but go past the turn off to the village and take the next turning on the right and into lot 4, parking is free and there is a free bus that will take you to the lifts and ski hire places. I would advise that you book skis, and passes via the internet before you go.

Whistler Creekside is also good to ski from and there is an underground car park on the left as soon as you turn into Creekside, it is also free. At Creekside by the lift on the left as you look up the hill is a place called Dusty's. Great for lunch and lively.

The ski-ing is great. The slopes are much longer than Europe, steeper and faster but in January it is cold and although our jackets and trousers kept us warm our toes and fingers did get cold. Also get a helmet, our heads stayed warm with these and if you hire skis helmets come free.

We also spent a good afternoon in Vancouver. Visited the beeches near the University, had lunch at Tony's Fish and Oyster Cafe on Granville Island and a real must see the Steam Clock!!!

What a great family vacation spot

Our family gets together once a year and the Hunter's house in Whistler was excellent. Three bedrooms, no one complained about the beds. Kitchen had excellent quality and quantity of dishes, pots and pans, and glasses .We did bring an extra fry pan as there is just one and as we cooked for 9 it was handy. The deck was wonderful with table and chairs to sit and enjoy the view. Just a few steps to the lake with the dock right on the property. Fireplace made it cosy on one chilly evening. Lots of seating for everyone both in the living room and dining area. I highly reccomend this rental and we will be back for another visit. Not far from Whistler but quiet and serine just perfect for enjoying nature. The Stellar Blue jays were entertaining as well.

Perfect Mountain Home

Martin & Mia Burnaby, BC, Canada.
Date Submitted: June 09, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We recently spent a week at the "Whistler Lakefront Log Home" and will certainly be back.

The home was an ideal size for my wife and I along with may parents visiting the west coast. The area is very quiet with amazing views of the mountains and a very warm lake for swimming, first week of June!

Really everything you could need as long as your prepared to get away and leave the evening news behind (no cable).

The new highway to Whistler makes the drive up from Vancouver very fast (1.5 hours) and being 15 minutes from Whistler makes it close enough to enjoy the village but ensures a quiet and peaceful sleep.

The beds are very comfortable, 4 queen beds in 4 bedrooms, with top quality mattresses. The hot tub is very new and kept in top condition.

For those visiting in winter the Olympic nordic centre is just up the road with world class cross country skiing and the new Olympic ski jumps. A little further is access to Whistler skiing at Creekside.

Plenty of hiking and mountain biking areas.

The Lakefront Log Home is an ideal 4 season retreat in a safe gated estate.

Martin & Mia
Burnaby, B.C.

Beautiful and peaceful cabin location

Cart Seattle, Washington.
Date Submitted: May 27, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My husband, two dogs, and I stayed here for a week. We absolutely loved that it was away from the hustle and bustle of Whistler Village. The gated community is very quiet and serene. The loudest noises around were the birds in the treetops, and the buzzing of the local hummingbird whizzing back and forth in the backyard.

We (and our dogs) especially loved the private dock leading out to the lake. The water was a bit cold for us humans to go swimming, but the dogs had no problems jumping in and paddling around. The mountain views from the lake were also spectacular, especially when we paddled the canoe out to the middle of the lake.

The cabin itself was plenty big for us and provided just about everything we needed. The hot tub on the back patio has a perfect view of the lake peeking through the trees, and is great for stargazing at night. The kitchen was well equipped, though we did bring our favorite chef's knife and ended up buying a cheap little nonstick skillet to make cooking a little easier.

I'd highly recommend this cabin to people looking for a relaxing retreat away from the crowds, speeding cars, parking lots, and expensive shopping. We will definitely be coming back to stay at this cabin.

Week's stay in April for 8

skidave UK.
Date Submitted: April 25, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
The description of the propery was accurate, it was clean and functional, the owner provided a good service.

We were a group of 8 - 4 adults and 4 older children, we found the bedrooms a little small, with only 2 of the bedrooms having wardrobes available to the guest, the others were padlocked.

We found the interior a little dark, more lights would have been useful. We felt that the upstairs bathroom was dated and would benefit from having a proper shower installed. Our children were disappointed to find that there were no TV channels available on the TVs in the property.
The changes being made to Highway 99 need to be reflected in the directions provided to the property.
Very much enjoyed using the wood burner, surprisd how much heat it produced.

Scenic views with quiet relaxation

This was my third visit to the cabin and every time it gets more enjoyable. It's always clean and well-equipped and it just feels like the perfect size for a small group of people. It's cozy and comfy with the perfect amount of modern conveniences. The hot tub has beautiful views of the lake and woods and feels even more special when it's snowing. The owner is very accommodating and helpful. I highly recommend this place to everyone and will definitely come back for a fourth visit.

We stayed at this home for 1 week. We have 3 small children and this home was fully equipped with a crib, high chair, toys, games, puzzles and even life jackets! The kids loved the canoe and the ability to row over to the playground across the lake. The gated community is quiet and serene.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need to cook.

The owner provides quick response and good customer service.

Overlooking a pond

germancook southwest germany.
Date Submitted: July 15, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
we - 2 americans and 2 germans - stayed at this property over mid-summer and had a very pleasant time. the house is on a lovely little lake/pond and has a lover's seat. it is not really suited for small children, as the causeway to the water is rather shaky. as there are boats and things, larger children could have fun. the deck offers enough space for larger families.

the community is quiet and well taken care off, the house is in wilderness-like surroundings: though easy to access on paved road it is yet enough hidden to provide privacy for 2 elderly ladies to enjoy the hottub with a glass of champagne.

inside there is plenty of room for a large family and all the necessary equipment is provided, including such things as ice skates for winter guests! outside sitting is available around the house and we had practically no moscitos, though - all windows are screened - there must be moscitos some time during the year.

whistler is getting ready for the olympics - so being a bit away from the hub (15 min. to town) is going to be an asset in years to come. there were lots of easy walks for us grannies, but there are also some quite ambitious walks for those who want to do it especially towards pemberton (Joffre Lakes, glaciers).

our only complaint was the 'absence' of fishing. our friend had brought all his flyfishing equipment with him to take my husband on a lake or river, but we were unable to find options. maybe some information in the house could help - there must be fish somewhere.

it would be nice if the owner put in an extra shower as the upper shower is a 'sit-in-the-bath-tub' operation and was not very comfortable. at least for us.

shopping in squamish - on your way up - is an option, but the little supermarket in whistler (more likely your direction of outing) is quite well assorted and has fresh bread every day. no foreign newspapers though.

the house has all kinds of electronic equipment, which we did not use (we had no time for tv and the like), but also free internet access, which we did use.
