Hvar Town paintings cannot do the town justice. The ancient town is stunning, located on a sheltered harbour. The ancient monuments which make up the town appear at every turn, and although St Stephens Cathedral, the Theatre of Hvar and Groda Palace are the best known attractions in Hvar town, it is almost impossible to set any monuments apart from the rest of the town, such is the ancient beauty. There is plenty of walking from Hvar town, both into the unspoilt woodland and along the coved coastline that surround the town, and by night, the bars and restaurants of Hvar attract people from across the island.

Hvar has a magnificently mild climate, and is famous for its warm temperatures and remarkable lack of rain. During the warmest summer months, (July and August), monthly average temperatures hover around the 25˚C mark, with daily peaks routinely reaching up to 30˚C. The clear seas are easily warm enough for swimming from May until November as sea temperatures between these months remain above 20˚C too. In winter, a very special time for painters in Hvar villas, temperatures still average between 8 and 10˚C.

Cheap flights to Hvar, Croatia

In order to reach a self catering apartment in Hvar, you must first catch a flight to Split Airport (SPU), services to which are provided by EasyJet, Flybe and British Airways. The airport has excellent bus connections to Split ferry terminal, from which there are a large range of ferries, catamarans and boats waiting to take you across to Hvar and your Hvar holiday rental.
