Based in London and founded in January 1996, Holiday-Rentals.co.uk was acquired in 2005 by U.S.-based HomeAway, Inc., the world leader of the private holiday rentals market. Together with the HomeAway websites in the U.S. and Europe, Holiday-Rentals.co.uk provides holiday home owners with the most efficient method for generating bookings, and travellers with the largest and most trusted source for finding a holiday rental. Advertising over 50,000 properties worldwide, the site receives over 45,000 visits every day.

Senior Developer - Java/J2EE/Spring/SOA

Opportunity:
We are looking for two very strong Java developers to build out a new enterprise-wide development. The SOA architecture, primarily based on an open source Java stack, will be made up of leading technologies to include Capistrano, Cruise Control, Maven, Spring, Spring MVC, Site Mesh, Resin, Gears, xDoclet, Emma, JUnit, JMock, Atom, RelaxNG, XML and REST based webservices. Experience of some of these, although not necessary all would be beneficial.

Position Description:
We need a flexible, self-starting team player with a solid, proven track record of large, complex internet projects. You'll ideally have a computer science background and will be able to showcase a portfolio of sites you have been involved in designing and building. You'll have developed content-managed, multi-lingual, high-availability systems and designed applications for production-strength architectures. You'll understand how to optimise relational databases, write fast queries and solve data processing problems elegantly.
You'll be happy working within a small international team of capable and enthusiastic developers with practical processes and to high standards. You'll have a keen eye for detail and a desire to maintain exemplary output. You'll be experienced in taking ownership and responsibility for functional sections from conception through design to implementation and support. You will also receive training as necessary to develop your technical skills further.
Skills required:
Production-strength internet development skills:- 5 yrs Java/J2EE object oriented development
- 1 yr Spring Framework experience
- Service-oriented architectural experience
- Source control and configuration management (ideally Subversion,Gears,Cruise Control)
- Rabid advocate of unit-test-driven development and an Agile methodology
