Majorca, or Mallorca, is the largest island in the Balearic Island group, and one of the most popular. It lies in the Mediterranean Sea off the southeast coast of mainland Spain, alongside its sister islands of Minorca (or Menorca) and Ibiza. With a sparkling coastline that spans 550 km and a rich and lively culture, it is no wonder that holidays in Majorca are so popular.

Accomodation in Majorca, Spain

Although resorts are abundant here, you can get away from the bustle of people by renting villas in Majorca. Majorca villas are modern yet traditional, and have everything a resort would offer and more. Quiet and private holidays in Majorca are obtainable and popular.

Pollensa (Pollenca) - Located in the north of Majorca, this peaceful old Roman town of Pollensa is still a largely unaffected by the Majorca tourism wave. Today the port has grown into a popular destination for holidaymakers. Some of Pollensa’s medieval centre remains around the Plaça Major, the main square, and a small chapel. Perched on a hill just south of Pollensa is a peaceful and serene 18th-century monastery. The breathtaking view from the top is worth the one hour walk from town.

Alcudia - Alcudia is the capital of Majorca. The original old town of Alcudia is 2 miles inland from the coastal development that has surfaced as a tourist destination over the past four decades. The coastal development lies mostly at the western end of the magnificent Bay of Alcudia, in the east of Majorca. The waters of the Bay of Alcudia are warm and shallow, helping make Majorca holidays very popular with families.

Santa Ponsa – Santa Posa Beach is quite large, and this coastline has been growing with the addition of imported sand. The waters are fairly shallow and currents generally mild. Boat trips in Santa Posa out to swim in the sea are very popular and relatively cheap in this area. Santa Ponsa is slightly laidback compared to the other parts of Majorca although it has an abundance of bars, restaurants, live music venues, also catering for families with children.

Soller - The municipal district of Soller lies deep within the heart of the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range. Soller is dominated by the highest mountain in Majorca, Puig Mayor. The village of Puerto de Soller is the only village along the rugged west coast of Majorca, and is flanked by a horseshoe bay enclosed by two headlands. Like Alcudia, the original old town of Soller is located inland and is best for walking and scenery.
