Airlines 'have boosted appeal of Spain'Property investment abroad: 19 December 2007The growth of the aviation sector has helped drive the popularity of Spain among second home owners, according to experts. Holiday Lettings stated that overseas property buyers from the UK were drawn to the country because it was well-served by low-cost carriers, making it an affordable place to visit. Britons were said to be very confident about different aspects of the Spanish market, which allowed it to occupy an "influential position" in the minds of investors. Ross Elder, managing director of Holiday Lettings, commented: "Spain is a prime example of the growth of low-cost carriers, easy access from the UK and confident tourists." Speaking to Homes Worldwide, he added that many holiday home owners tended to let their properties out while they were unoccupied in order to generate rental income. Mr Elder stated that investors in Spain were seeking lifestyle improvements more than capital appreciation.
