Alicante recommended to holidaymakers

Tourists who want to take a city break near the Mediterranean have been advised to visit Alicante.

The Spanish city was flagged up by the Guardian as a good destination for leisure travellers, as it offers a variety of attractions.

Holidaymakers were advised to look at the area's beaches, museums and historical attractions, as well as the cable car which offers a look over the whole area.

Alicante was also praised for offering a thriving nightlife, as well as an authentic Spanish environment.

The Guardian said: "It's a real town that doesn't just live for the tourist.

"Alicante has been transformed from rough-around-the-edges port to lively, arty hang-out."

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that leisure travellers in Norfolk will soon be able to benefit from direct flights to the region.

Services between Norwich International Airport and Alicante will be introduced by LTE International Airways during the summer.
