Britons 'looking abroad for property'

Many Britons are "seeking refuge abroad" and looking to buy homes in foreign countries, according to Peter Ellis, head of Foreign Currency Direct.

Reporting the comments, the Daily Express highlights a survey commissioned by Mr Ellis' company which shows two-thirds of the people buying holiday homes abroad are considering moving away permanently.

Mr Ellis remarked that more people are looking to foreign destinations for property due to "the rising cost of living" in the UK and "crime becoming a bigger concern for Brits".

"Buying property overseas is still an excellent investment and a great opportunity to have a better quality of life," he added.

A total of 400,000 people from Briton moved abroad last year, the research - which was undertaken by YouGov - also revealed.

Recent figures from Holidays-Direct.co.uk showed that Spain was top choice for people heading abroad on holiday
