Britons rush to book holidaysDestination trends: 29 May 2008A travel website has revealed that there has been a surge in the number of holiday bookings in the last few days. According to Directholidaybookings.co.uk, this is largely because the UK experienced "dismal" weather conditions over the bank holiday weekend. As a result, consumers have been keen to make sure they have trips to places with guaranteed sunshine ready and waiting. The website revealed that countries such as Egypt are becoming more and more popular with Britons, along with Tunisia and Morocco. Commenting on this trend, Andrew Gibson of Directholidaybookings.co.uk said this could be due to the current strength of the euro. He remarked: "The cost of visiting traditional European locations such as the Greek Isles, Spain and France has significantly risen recently." Mr Gibson added that Mexico, Thailand and Florida are also attracting a large number of visitors. This comes after the CBI revealed that economic problems in the UK are not putting people off booking trips abroad. See our Tunisian featured properties
