Britons to snap up French holiday homesFrance: 5 June 2008France's close proximity to the UK could help it to stay popular with second home buyers from Britain, according to analysts. ShelterOffshore.com has predicted that rising fuel costs could force many budget airlines to hike up the price of flights to other countries. However, France is easily accessible from the UK by various other modes of transport, including Channel Tunnel rail links and ferry services. Therefore, it believes that it could be a good option for people who wish to avoid spending large sums on flying to their foreign property. ShelterOffshore.com said: "France is already a hugely popular country with Britons seeking a holiday home. "It is going to remain very favourable indeed with those of us who want to own a property abroad." The website added that property markets which have been boosted by the so-called Ryanair effect could suffer as a result of rising aviation costs.
