Cyprus has "things that a lot of people look for"Cyprus: 23 May 2008Southern Cyprus is a popular destination among British holidaymakers and property investors because it has a number of features that are similar to the UK. At least this is what Paul Collins, BuyAssociation's property editor, has suggested. The expert claimed the similarities between the legal systems, the ability of most of the people to speak English and cars driving on the left "are things that a lot of people look for because […] they don't want to be somewhere that's completely different". Mr Collins also mentioned the availability of low-cost flights, "incredible" scenery and a long tradition of people holidaying in the Mediterranean island as other major pull factors. According to 4hoteliers, tourism figures for Cyprus could sky-rocket in the near future as Turkey looks to enter the European Union. It claimed that this may be the reason why the Turkish northern Cyprus is in talks with the south to open up the island, which will give extra incentives to holidaymakers to travel there.
